That is a great price, I love mine so much! I had checked Costco before prime day, they didn’t have it yet, must be a new addition.

I checked it out before ordering on Prime day, it was $179 then so I went with Prime and ordered extra pints which made my total $149. This is a great deal

Okay, I will post my question here. That was so strange. The whole thing just disappeared.
I have severely reduced my sugar intake because I was entering the neighborhood of diabetes and it scared me. I have lost about 30 pounds so far with more to go. Since I have been monitoring my sugar daily, it has only been high 3 times, and all three times were after I had chocolate peanut butter ice cream. My downfall. I cannot just have 1/2 cup or whatever they think is a serving. I did switch to a small bowl so that I could not overdo it too badly, but apparently I still ate too much because the next morning my sugar was higher.
I love ice cream. I figured that I just need to stay away from it all together because I don’t seem capable of eating a serving small enough to not affect my blood sugar yet still satisfy me. Just recently I went to get some Rocky Road and my store was out of all flavors of chocolate other than something called Moose Tracks, something I have never tried, but with that swirl of what I think was caramel, basically pure sugar, I knew I would love it and eat too much.
I ended up with something called Mountain Huckleberry instead. It was kind of awful. I mean, it didn’t taste bad, but the huckleberry swirl was so thin and only in the very center of the container that it was just like eating plain vanilla ice cream. I ended up just tossing it out.
My question:
Have you made a chocolate based ice cream in this that was really good? That tasted like a quality store-bought brand? And if you are making a reduced sugar type, what are you using to make it a decent ice cream and still reduce the sugar in it?
I looked on their website and saw a doggie ice cream with banana, peanut butter, honey, strawberries, and dog treats. I would definitely make my boy some of that. When he was a little pup only 8 weeks old, I stopped at a Starbucks drive thru and got some sort of coffee drink. He was leashed to his car seat in the front. I parked and got into the back of my car for something and when I went back, he looked up at me with this white foam-covered muzzle. He had stuck his face into my drink and devoured the whipped cream on top just in the few seconds that I was at the back of the car. He loves sweets. But I know I cannot share chocolate ice cream with him. I would love to make him his own flavor.
Talk me onto getting this machine, fellow peas! Can you really make a delicious ice cream that is low in sugar?

I like ice cream, but I don't crave it. I also don't eat a lot of - it is fine, but I don't like all the sugar. I’d rather snack on salty items and use my calories that way. That said, I love sorbets and smoothies. I use the splendid monkfruit sugar substitute recommended in place of sugar and it works fine. For me, the issue with homemade ice cream is the calories involved in the fat content of whole milk, whipping cream and/or full fat coconut milk. That is why I am mostly making sorbets, although I got the ingredients to make sea salt caramel ice cream which I will try. For you, the since fat isn't the issue, but sugar, I think a sugar substitute will be fine.

Oh dear. I didn’t know I wanted this but now I do. And I don’t even LIKE ice cream that much! Lol however the rest of my family are huge ice cream fans. Dh will eat daily but wants to have less sugar so this could be good….
Can you dump things in and freeze for an ice cream recipe or do you have to cook a base with eggs and such? Dh would never do that.

Sigh. SIGH! I KNOW, RIGHT? I have a Cuisinart ice cream maker that I like and that we use pretty frequently but everybody talking about this thing has me really intrigued. I was on the fence on Prime Day but was able to resist. I saw some refurbished models for $109 & $119 again in the last day or so on Woot! and again resisted. But at Costco where I get another kickback in the form of my credit card rebate and executive membership rebate AND a manufacturer discount AND extra pint containers too? AAARRRGGGHHHH! I feel my resistance getting very, very weak.

elaine When I click on your link it shows up as $149. Did you mean that it's $139 in the warehouse? It was listed as $139 on the email they sent me, but the fine print - when I look at it - says that it may be more expensive with delivery. So, I guess you have to go pick it up to get the extra $10 off. Sorry!

Well the peas made me buy it today. I currently have a pint of peach strawberry sorbet in the freezer to try tomorrow night after the freezing period along with pints of vanilla and chocolate ice cream— with mix ins for those ready to go. I’m torn between wanting it to be good and NOT wanting it to be good if you know what I mean. My ice cream loving dh is really excited. 😂

For those that need to be further enabled there are tons of Creami cookbooks in the Kindle Unlimited section, I made the best triple chocolate gelato the other night. The flavor and texture were divine. My husband has been all about the fruit sorbets.
It is going to be over 100 all this week and I am seriously considering just making ice cream for diner every night this week. It is so easy to do. I got my mom one too and she just loves hers

I’d love to try one The ones I have made were just canned fruit with their juice and topped off with seltzer water, so those contain whatever sugar is in the syrup. He makes ones where he just mashed up berries in the container, he did not add any sugar to those, just berries. Hope that helps! There are a lot of recipes that are low on sugar or use monk fruit and things if you can have that.

Now you’ve done it, Elaine. Is this the new Instantpot LOL?
I had one ordered on Prime Day and cancelled before it shipped. I figured I could think about it more and get one when Sam’s or Costco had a sale. Well I guess this is my sign LOL!
And I have iBotta earnings I can redeem for a Costco gift card, sooooo….

Can someone tell me where exactly that you see this for $139? I only see $149 online. I don't see any option to ship it to a local Costco where I could pick it up. Is it actually in the warehouse?

elaine , you are SUCH a bad influence. I think I may really need this. I know, I know. elaine is such an enabler and I am weak. I’m hoping to get to Costco today or tomorrow to see if they have any in stock. If not, we’ll then it was not to be. Ha. In all seriousness, as a diabetic, I think this would be a lovely was to eat my fruit portions. I love blue berries. And Kroger has Dole® Diced Peaches in Sweetened Coconut Water Fruit Cups. They are only 60 calories and 13 carbs each. I’d like to try use one of those for controlled portion. Question -
Does the Creami work well if you freeze less than a full container? I’m thinking I may want to make single servings (4 to 6 oz) of different flavors to have on hand in the freezer.Thoughts?

I don't know, but we are not sitting around eating our full pints each night, we just put the lid on them and eat again the next couple of nights. Well, my husband eats his sorbet in 2 nights, I take longer. I would just get extra containers or scoop it out of the pint and store in something else.

I looked on Prime Day and they were not listed yet online, I think maybe they are a new product and just have not hit the stores yet. I bet they will be there at a later date. I know sometimes things are regionally more expensive, maybe that is the case here?

They are in the store in Chantilly. They have been for a while - because I showed one to dh a few months ago. We tend to get that kind of thing in our store early. They are in small appliance row.

We have several Costco stores close to us and 2 that are equal distance from our house and they carry different things. I have to rotate which ones I go to, but the one last week didn't have it yet. I cannot get over how much I love this thing. This week I am trying one of the chocolate ice creams with spinach.

I live across the river from Portland and sometimes their stores have slightly higher prices then mine. Not often, but sometimes it is cheaper to pay the tax then shop in a Portland store.
