Was on the fence during Prime Day. Last week was in Target and they had it for $179. with three pints. Put it in my cart, walked around the store then chickened out. Figured I would wait until Black Friday, but....
At the moment it is sitting in my Costco online cart, deciding. I have a Cuisinart but never use it, too much work prepping the mixtures. In my quest for decent ice cream I just continue to spend a fortune buying Ben and Jerry's and Haagen Daz pints to appease my addiction.
Still on the fence but starting to fall in favor of this devise.
Thanks for the notice!

I've got a trip to Costco planned for Thursday (1.5 hour drive). I am going to call the store to see if they have them in stock. If not, I may bite the bullet and order online and pay the extra $10. This would make it the same price I would have paid for it on Prime Day if I bought the extra cups ($19.99). But at least with Costco, I have a much longer return window if I decide I don't like it.

elaine , you are SUCH a bad influence. I think I may really need this. I know, I know. elaine is such an enabler and I am weak. I’m hoping to get to Costco today or tomorrow to see if they have any in stock. If not, we’ll then it was not to be. Ha. In all seriousness, as a diabetic, I think this would be a lovely was to eat my fruit portions. I love blue berries. And Kroger has Dole® Diced Peaches in Sweetened Coconut Water Fruit Cups. They are only 60 calories and 13 carbs each. I’d like to try use one of those for controlled portion. Question -
Does the Creami work well if you freeze less than a full container? I’m thinking I may want to make single servings (4 to 6 oz) of different flavors to have on hand in the freezer.Thoughts? I don’t know the answer to your question. I imagine that 8 oz might be okay. But I don’t know how well it would blend only 4 oz/1/4 cup, much less how to scoop that out of the container. The containers are only 2 cups/1 pint, so they really aren’t that big. You’ll be surprised how quickly they fill up.

Now you’ve done it, Elaine. Is this the new Instantpot LOL? I had one ordered on Prime Day and cancelled before it shipped. I figured I could think about it more and get one when Sam’s or Costco had a sale. Well I guess this is my sign LOL! And I have iBotta earnings I can redeem for a Costco gift card, sooooo…. While I am enjoying this new toy, I don’t think it is the new InstantPot. 😀 That thing is/was a complete life changer for me and how I cook dinner and soup. ❤️ This is more fun for dessert, but won’t make a huge change in our life style. This really is a great ice cream maker though. The pint containers are small enough that I can squeeze them in in various spots in my freezer. When I had a cuisinart ice cream maker, the base was just so large and it took up too much freezer space. We always took the bowl out to make room for food and then would forget to put it back in when there was room, so we rarely used the machine. Here are some reviews on CNET: www.cnet.com/home/kitchen-and-household/ninja-creami-ice-cream-maker/

My kids are using the ninja cream I almost every day. I even left it out on the counter, the only other items we leave on the counter are a coffee pot and toaster. I wouldn’t say the creami has been life changing or a game changer, but it has been fun.

We have them in store - that’s why I got the email notice with the $139 price. 😀 I am glad they are showing up, I have been checking our two Costcos and they haven't had it yet or I would have bought it prior to Prime Day. We have several Costco stores close to us and 2 that are equal distance from our house and they carry different things. I have to rotate which ones I go to, but the one last week didn't have it yet. I cannot get over how much I love this thing. This week I am trying one of the chocolate ice creams with spinach. Ooh, please share this recipe or a link to it?

It was listed as $139 on the email they sent me, but the fine print - when I look at it - says that it may be more expensive with delivery. So, I guess you have to go pick it up to get the extra $10 off. Sorry! So we can order online but pick up in a store? I never knew that! lol at me... I live SO close to Pentagon City so that's what I'll do. I mean, IF I order one.... I don’t know if that’s an option for anything other than electronics. If you order online and have it shipped it will cost $10 more. If you go to the store yourself and buy it, it will be $139.

I’m going tomorrow in person to buy one. DH just bought himself an expen$ive motorcycle seat, so yeah. I deserve a new toy LOL. It will be perfect for the lake cabin. We have a local ice cream place there but they charge an arm and a leg for a one scoop cone and the gas station convenience store has a very sad ice cream selection. We also have more limited freezer space there so the smaller containers will be a better fit.

I caved. Should be here Wednesday. I caved too. We need a “I Caved” - 2Peas Refugees Badge. Or support group. I went to Costco today and picked one up. I actually was surprised to see that they still had so many in stock. What was flying of the shelves was an air fryer of some type. People were grabbing more than one. It was crazy. I didn’t have time to read the instruction book before I went to the grocery store. But I did grab some frozen fruit to try to make some kind of sorbets. I’m really looking forward to experimenting. I was really comfortable buying it from Costco because they have such a generous return policy. But I really don’t think this for going back if it works out as well for me as I hope. Thanks elaine !

Lol I just ordered two more containers (dh eats a lot I’d ice cream!). It is so easy and delicious, isn’t it? I love ice cream and am actually kind of a snob about it, but everything I have made has been so good. The recipes with the tablespoon of cream cheese have been my favorite. The texture is what really gets me, so smooth and creamy.

Now I have to hunt for a coffee/espresso flavor recipe For dh that will keep the same consistency.

I'm heading to Costco this morning to see if they have it in-store. If not I'll just suck up the $10 difference and order it online. I could drive out to Elaine's Costco which is about 20 miles from me. But with gas the price it is I'd probably use up a lot of that $10 difference, not to mention the wear and tear on my nerves with traffic.

This appliance sounds really interesting, but considering that I got this one -
Cuisinart® Gelateria(TM) Gelato Frozen Yogurt Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker
for free from Air Miles Rewards, I think the Creami is a pass for me. I don't really have room to store any more small appliances, so I ended up giving the Cuisinart to my DGD, and she makes gorgeous ice cream and shares!

elaine I just got home..... the Creami is $179.00 at Pentagon City! I went to the member services and asked someone and she said each store can set prices how they want. I mentioned that it was $139 at Chantilly and $149 online. She said yeah that's the way it is sometimes. So I came home and ordered it online. It says it will be here tomorrow. The delivery people are probably going to Pentagon City to pick it up, then driving 5 minutes to deliver it to me. . Seems odd. lol.

Well, that *really* stinks - especially because you took the time and gas to drive to Costco. I can somewhat (not really) understand maybe not matching Chantilly’s price, but to not match Costco’s online price is absolutely nuts.

Just got home with mine too. Even picked up an extra half gallon of heavy cream to take to the lake to make ice cream out of. Now the trick will be getting DH to remember to pack the cream in the cooler the next time we head to the cabin! 🤣

oh gosh this sounds so tempting! It looks like my CC has it on sale for the lower price. I already texted DD as well, she has a 14 m/o who has food allergies so this would be fun for her to own too.
FYI if anyone needs heavy cream; Trader Joes sells heavy whipping cream in small shelf stable cartons. Look for it in the baking aisle. They keep for several months. The cartons are small, only 8 oz so they are great for recipes that only need small amounts.

We first saw this machine in Costco when we were visiting friends in Idaho. Since we were flying we couldn't buy it, so we decided to look for it at home. But it wasn't stocked at our local Costco store. This gave us time to do some research to try to talk us OUT of buying one. We watched enough reviews that called it an expensive blender, so we decided against buying one. After reading this thread I couldn't convince DH we needed one because he'd watched too many reviews. I started to write a post in this thread asking the peas if the Creami is really just a glorified blender. Instead, I caved when I read about the sale. Now there are two pints of vanilla and sorbet mix chillin' in the freezer. So I'll just join the "Thanks elaine " Club and hope to recruit DH tomorrow. There's a good chance since he put the pineapples in the container.

Mine is set to arrive August first—can’t wait!
Of course, my daughters are already trying to figure out what kind of frozen alcoholic drinks they can make with it LOL. They both think that would be awesome on pool days!
My disabled brother is diabetic, and he loves chocolate ice cream. Mom buys the Fairlife chocolate milk which he loves. I’m going to take my creami home for her to try with frozen chocolate milk to see if he likes that “ice cream” or milkshake. If he does, this might be something she would use a lot for him. He would probably like sorbets, too. Or anything with frozen bananas.

Mine just arrived yesterday so I haven't had a chance to do more than look at the first few pages of the booklet that came with it.
But I noticed one thing... it was talking about using canned fruit. And it specifically mentioned NOT to use the canned fruit in water, but to use only the juice or syrup kind.... Why is that?
I'm assuming we can also use fresh or already-frozen fruit, but I just wondered about that no-fruit-packed-in-water thing.

Another that used lemonade and frozen or fresh blueberries.

It says "canned fruit with no added sugar (fruit in water) cannot be processed by the unit." But it seems to indicate that you can use fruit in juice, but that also has no added sugar. And what's the difference actually between using canned peaches that are packed in water vs. a fresh peach? I guess it doesn't matter in the end because I plan to use more frozen fruit, but I have some cans of peaches that would taste yummy as sorbet but they're packed in water not juice.

Sugar changes the temperature at which water freezes. Sorbet made without sugar (naturally found in juice or in syrup) might become soupy quickly. www.exploratorium.edu/cooking/icooks/12-02-02.htmlSugar also changes the flavor, of course and Ninja probably wanted to put recipes in the booklet that are guaranteed to work. I bet that if you saved the water that the peaches were packed in and added some sugar or sugar substitute, it would turn out fine. Grapefruit sorbet made from those cups of grapefruit packed in juice with a tablespoon of Splenda monk fruit sweetener has been a HUGE hit in our household.

Okay, made my first pint and it was a bit weird, not terrible just weird.
Since there was no vanilla ice cream recipe I used the enclosed recipe for chocolate chip, but did not add the chips. I must have done something wrong.
First thing was the texture was okay, tad crumbly so did respin but still a bit crumbly but almost creamy. Maybe the freezer I used is too cold. Will use the other not so cold freezer for the next batch.
The weirdest thing was while eating the ice cream it left a disturbing gummy residue on the roof of my mouth. The recipe contained milk, heavy cream, a little cream cheese, vanilla paste and sugar. The roof of mouth residue thing was so odd and uncomfortable.
I am committed to liking this device and guess there is a learning curve. I am not much of a cook so have minimal experience in that area. Maybe I am missing something. Have tried to look up recipes but too impatient to weed through all the add nonsense on Pintrest and blogs so ordered a recipe book from Amazon.
How is everyone else doing? Where do you get your recipes?

Where do you get your recipes? I haven’t tried my Creami or the recipes that came with it yet, but will comment in general having made a lot of homemade ice cream in my regular Cuisinart ice cream maker. I think some of it boils down to personal preference. When I made my first batches of ice cream I followed those recipes to a T and most that I’ve used only called for heavy cream. I found that for me personally, if I only use heavy cream the texture of the resulting ice cream has an almost buttery mouthfeel that I don’t like for ice cream. After that I started using a little more than half heavy cream and the rest 1-2% milk and I like it so much better. It feels lighter and doesn’t have that same greasy mouthfeel that I didn’t like. Before this thread I have never heard of an ice cream recipe that calls for cream cheese. To me that seems like a weird ingredient for ice cream and I’m not sure I would like that. I like the taste of it just fine in other things but to me it doesn’t seem like it would combine very well with the other typical liquid ice cream ingredients because even softened it sits in a clump. I wonder if that is what is causing the texture you are describing.
