One that I see here at least once per week, is “loose” when people mean “lose.” You do not, not will you ever, loose weight. You will lose weight and your clothes will become loose on you. Ugh. Since I've joined Weight Watchers I also joined a couple of Facebook groups. I see this one all the time.

I'm irrationally irritated by people who pronounce February with only one R and those who use 'less' for countable items. However, if you google "how do I pronounce February" you'll find that the first "r" is not pronounced. It's "feb-you-ary". And the "fewer/less" debacle will never end. That one makes me crazy.

I do not like the shortening of words. Is it really that much more effort, to write a word?
the three I dislike the most. Prolly (probably) Sup (what's up). Preggers (pregnant)
I do not like text conversations like this. hey r u goin tnite cuz i mite b lat k Are you going tonight, because I might be late, okay?

Misspellings are so common these days, I’ve learned to just roll my eyes and move on.
I’ll add confusing the words ‘sale’ and ‘sell’ to this thread. I see sentences like: “I made a sell and need to ship the item.” “Can you sale that to me?”
Ugh.

Me too! I appreciate this post so much, today. I was recently looking for a new place to get my hair cut. There is a FaceBook group for our area, so I asked the group for suggestions. One particular place is recommended by many people. The name is : Hair E mvy. It drives me nuts. I cannot determine if that is how the person that named the salon thought envy was spelled, or maybe her name is Emma or Emily..... I just can't deal with it! That’s awful. Do not get your hair cut there! Never! I feel like I would be asking for trouble! 😅

All of the above BUG me! I will add made up names to my list of words that but me. Anthem insurance has changed their name to the made up word Elevance. WTF?ALL of the above for me too (plus many others that I will not even try to list here)... Yes, ITA about your insurance company name. Along those lines, my bank changed from BB&T (not great, but it at least stood for something: "Branch Banking & Trust) to "Truist" (WTF???) when they merged with Sun Trust...ugh!

As in, "I should of not gone to the pool because of my crime scene period." My eyes!! I can barely read that sentence. Guilty as charged, madame! I'll go with "massacre" next time. 😗

Most of the things mentioned in this thread annoy me. I certainly don't have perfect grammar and spelling and yes I will use the occasional annoying slang word but what's really been noticeable to me lately is how hard it is to understand people when they speak. People cannot seem to articulate their thoughts in a way that gets across their point or question anymore. Often I am on the phone at work and I have to stop the caller and re-state to them what it is I think they have been trying to say. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong. Lately I've been just saying "I'm sorry, I don't understand your question." Because I am completely baffled by what they are getting at. It's a combination of the wrong word choices, inserting weird commentary, telling details that don't matter, and having poor diction.

Defiantly instead of definitely. The pronunciations of those two words are not even close to the same.
Overuse of "myself" in incorrect ways.
"If you have any questions, ask Barb or myself." (It hurt to write that. 🤢)
Worked with a guy at my last job who was trying to sound smarter than he is by using "myself" in all the wrong ways. Spoiler alert- it did not, in fact, make him sound smarter.

Thought of another one I've seen a few times recently. Rein vs Reign. You 'rein' in a horse, not 'reign' in. Queen Elizabeth does not 'rein'. She reigns. The only time she reins anything is with her horses, or perhaps a wayward child or grandchild.

It bugs me when people, usually a principal or elementary teacher, call the lower elementary kids “littles”. “Let me go get the littles from recess.” I don’t know why it bugs me but it does!

You do not barrow something, you borrow it. Ugh! I see that one frequently on Facebook. On YouTube someone I watch "borrows books to people." It's lend! I am not sure if it's a regional thing (she is from Wisconsin) or just this particular person... Just that particular person! I'm from Wisconsin and would never say it that way! My pet peeve is sediments instead of sentiments.

I remember a thread where a pea was saying she would never ever buy those laundry freshener things called Unstopables because the name was spelled wrong. I wonder who that was and if they have hopped on the Creami bandwagon. Well, I don't know if I was the pea but if not, I too despise the unstopables for their incorrect spelling. I do not have a creami.

I'm irrationally irritated by people who pronounce February with only one R and those who use 'less' for countable items. Same with library. Ok this is confusing me. Because February I pronounce with only one R. But library is pronounced with 2 Rs (and I’ve never heard it with only one).

Ok I’ll add one. The overuse of TLAs (three letter acronyms lol) - often I have no idea what they stand for - or it takes me a minute - including several above!
I also find the misuse of the word “literally” amusing. I’m one to talk though - I’m an atrocious speller and very prone to typos…
