When do you declare a card kit "done"?
I bought an old Card Kit of the Month for $20 during a Spellbinders sale awhile back. I dug into it and made 17 cards using the contents (though a few things from my stash started creeping in around card #12). I still have a couple of cardstock sheets, about a dozen full pages from the 6x6 pad, and a decent amount of good stuff from the die cut packet (plus some stuff I probably won't ever use) and bling. Of the stickers and sentiments, I've mostly used up the things I like.
Part of me wants to toss everything but the stamps and dies. I'm sick of storing remnants of paper pads, and I don't think I'll ever use a die cut of a pink sofa... But the papers are still pretty, and some of the die cuts I might use one day...? If I pack it all up and take a break from it, will I find it beautiful and inspiring again in a few months? Then I imagine myself in a few years with shelves and shelves of half-eaten kits that I'm sick of...
Ugh.
What do you all do with card kit leftovers?

Once I’m done with kit I break it down and it put it in my general stash supplies for things I know I would use. Everything else I pass along to a crafty friend or trash, depending on the item & amount left.

If I make a card or two, I'm happy. Then I keep what I think I might use and pass on the rest to a local charity.
17 cards, I'm impressed! You did fantastic!

I agree with peasquared that 17 cards is an impressive number. If I like the leftover papers, I am likely to keep them. If you don’t think you will ever use them, I don’t think you should feel any guilt at tossing the remainders. You got 17 cards for about $20. You got your money’s worth. However, IF you are having trouble getting rid of the “useless” remnants, I will put in a reason for keeping them if any of the leftovers are papers and colors you like. I took a pile of leftover scraps that I normally would have dumped in the trash. I got out smaller dies and cut the scraps till there was truly nothing usable left. I got 247 die cuts (tags, banners, circles, flowers, hearts, stars, and other smaller shapes that are often used for card making) out of what I normally would have tossed as not worth keeping. I sorted them by color, and now they can easily be added to a card or layout. Yes, I counted them. If you aren’t that enthusiastic about the leftovers, though, give yourself permission to get rid of them. Keep only what you really like.

I have had great luck giving those types of things away on my Buy Nothing Group. I just do a flat lay and take a pic. I try and wait until I have a small stash and do them all at once.

Is Buy Nothing like Freecycle? I had a lot of trouble with no shows when I tried to give away stuff on Freecycle, but I would far prefer to give away things to someone who can use them, rather than throwing items away.

Yes...ours is specific to my half of our town (we have another one for the other side). It's a Facebook group. I often have folks from my own neighborhood of 100 homes that end up grabbing my items. I've gotten a few things for my kids as they setup their own apartments (dining room table, artificial Christmas tree, counter height bar stools, etc.). I haven't had issues with no shows. They ask that you keep things up for 24 hours and then draw a name (unless there is a sense of urgency and then you can do a "flash" give).

They are on Facebook - just search Buy Nothing and the name of your location - town or neighborhood - and if there's a group in the area you should be be able to join it. It's very location specific and being on Fbk means that there's some "accountability" because it's attached to your online profile. If people break the rules they get kicked out, if they are notorious for no-shows (which some of my people definitely are) you can refuse to give to them or block them. I've given away TONS of stuff through my local group and most people are great. It depends on the community but even in my town which has not been very friendly or community minded the group is full of great people.

Oh, and to answer the question, I tend to use up everything I possibly can and then RAK the rest here or on Buy Nothing. When I put it away until later I tend to feel pressured and frustrated so I would prefer to pass things on if I'm not going to use them up.

Wait we're supposed to actually use the items from kits??? Haha.
I have a bunch of SSS, HA and MFT kits that I've taken the stamp set and solid cardstock out of and the rest is in the box.
