Michael's is having some amazing sale items right now!
Flexible seating is a big thing here - meaning that students can sit in places other than their desk at times during the day. The plastic lap trays/desks are on sale for $5.99 right now, so I picked up a few. Since our students all have laptops, a lap desk is helpful. Also, the book bins and other plastic bins are on sale.
Finally, the summer activity supplies are 75% off right now. I was able to buy the bubble containers with wands (long and skinny making large bubbles, yet not too messy because of the handle on the wand) for $0.50 a piece. Cheap enough that each child in my 3rd classroom will have their own bubble container and wand.
And, all the items that I purchased, even though they were already on sale still took off more for my military discount. It probably also works for teacher discounts too, although I can't attest to that.

Thanks for sharing, I wanted to stop by tomorrow to look for bone manipulatives because I always miss them and I saw they were out. Will definitely make sure I check out the clearance stuff as well. Prek goes through a LOT of bubbles!

Oh yes, I bought tons of book bins when Target cleared them out because we were still in lock down. They are vital! Did you notice if the bins that have one long side and 3 compartments on the other side with a handle in the middle or the 6 pack circle ones were on sale? I wanted to get a few of those for our different tables and I will have to go to a different Michaels to get those as mine never got them in. Thanks again,

I want to say for $2.99 each. The other ones you described were on sale too, but I held back on those.

Thank you for the info. I will share it w/ds. He is finally learning the joys of teacher discounts. I'm glad that so many stores recognize teachers.

This is probably my last year of teaching. I am not buying anything and I am going to work all year on getting rid of things. It's such a strange feeling.

I’m not buying anything…. Yet….
I’m moving from middle school (6-8) math & science (22 years!j to high school continuation (16-18 year olds) integrated 1 math/financial math/biology/chemistry.
All MY stuff is moved into my new classroom at my new school. The school is also moving sites so things are all over right now.
I was there Thursday… I have 3 conference tables, 20 something non matching office chairs for my students (15 kids so far per class), 4 complete class sets of history/Econ/gov books that need to be gone, an ancient iMac and assorted cables and keyboards that need to be gone, @ pile of trash that needs to be gone.
My principal has ordered 4 8’ long whiteboards for my room. I’m hoping that they’ll pull the old wall board with moulding and replace with regular wall board when they put up the new whiteboards, I need to go chat with my new principal tomorrow.
I have math meetings 8/1-8/2, district contract days 8/3-8/4 and kids show up 8/5. My room is not ready. My household is quarantined until Sunday next week. It’s gonna be interesting.

Another FYI - at Walmart crayola crayons are $0.50 per pack; the skin tone ones were $1.58. School glue was $0.54 a bottle. Crayola colored pencils were $0.94 along with the marker packs.

I hope you guys have a great school year! Remember a box of skin tone crayons won’t make your classroom inclusive or anti-racist Elaine.

If you have a Staples nearby they have notebooks for 35 cents, glue bottles 50 cents, crayola crayons for 50 cents (including skin tone ones) and crayola markers for 99 cents per package. There are deals on pencils, erasers, scissors, etc too. They used to change it up and offer new sales each week, but they've mainly stayed the same the past two years. I know I was there last week and picked up a bunch of things for my classroom and for my kids for cheaper than retail. Office Max used to have BTS ads too, but I haven't seen any this year. I'll have to look into that. I haven't been to Michael's in a long time, but apparently I need to stop in. I'll be in a different room this year - third room in 3 years due to Covid so I need to reconfigure a lot of things. I can't get into my room until August due to cleaning, although I have a lengthy list of things that will need to change since this room will be 1/2 the size of the room I used last year. Hoping this room doesn't change again for a bit since Covid protocols will be gone this year.

If you have a good Dollar Tree near you, they have a bunch of teaching/organizing things. Let's just say I spent more than I intended and it wasn't all due to the price increase. I saved a ton of money by shopping there though. I won't link everything I got there, but here are a few of the more versatile items that are a lot cheaper than Amazon or teacher supply stores and can be used with a lot of grades. They have these book bins again. I got them 2-3 years ago for each student due to Covid protocol rules and they're still working. I plan to transition them to storing books this year if I can make them work in my new/smaller space. They do work better if they're lined up together vs standing alone. When I got them they had primary colors, but seem to have pastel this year. My store had some, but not a huge amount left. www.dollartree.com/teaching-tree-colorful-plastic-book-bins/243439Also got some of these (awesome for marking papers up for practice): www.dollartree.com/teaching-tree-reusable-dry-erase-plastic-pockets/196807Got some of these (great for pointing to poems/spelling patterns/letters/etc) for myself and the kids: www.dollartree.com/plastic-classroom-finger-pointer-15-in/161178Dice (great for center time/customizing games/learning): www.dollartree.com/teaching-tree-dry-erase-foam-blocks/237440They also had the small circle incentive stickers, borders, a variety of storage containers and some certificate type items (behavior and birthday) and a bunch more useful items.

I agree about the book bins, I have a lot from the Dollarish Tree as well, but the ones from Target are a deeper which is nice for some oversize picture books. Even at 3.00 each they are cheaper then on Amazon and they are really sturdy. I love the Target clear pouches for dry erase markers as well. We use them for mazes and find the letter sheets in Pre-K as well as playdoh mats. I think I got 12 for 8.00 online at Target.
