This is not about my cat that stands on my pages when I'm trying to work. That is a whole other thread topic. I started the insect thread and then I reread the Christmas thread (stoat and skunk) and so this is the next topic: How often do you use animals when scrapbooking? What animals do you use? How do you use them? Does anyone actually use the sloths and llamas? I've used animals on lots of zoo pages, of course. And cats and dogs for pet pages. I had a photo of my cat laying on zebra sheets and I used a zebra and several times people ask me "why a zebra?". I have to point out the sheets. I'll admit to using a random llama. The page is cute but I'm not sure how I feel about it. I wish I had more goat stuff. One of my best friends is obsessed with goats and I always feel like I need to add a goat to his pages. It is hard to find good ones, though. Have you used any unusual animals? Is there an animal that you wish there more products for?

I use zebra items because of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I have also used marine animals for pages about the beach and aquariums we visit, sloths for the sloth encounter dd did, dolphins for the dolphin encounter, sea otters for the sea otter encounter, horses for dd's riding lessons and tournaments she used to do, dinosaurs for various museums and Cabazon, dogs for layouts about our 2 dogs...
That is all I can remember for now.

zoo znimals on Zoo pages and also Legoland pages with zoo animal models
aquarium critters on aquarium and Sea World pages
manatees on pages of manatees but also on pics of a stuffed manatee toy and on cards
cats on cat pages
horses on horse riding pages and rodeo pages
farm critters on farm pages
basically I use animals when they match the theme but not usually randomly

About the only animal I use without the layout being about an animal is if I'm using a frog for my sister or a giraffe for me. They're our favorite animals.

I don't... typically I'll use cat or dog things for pet pages, but sometimes not even then, if the cat or dog is obviously the wrong breed / color-- I wouldn't use a pug or German Shepard sticker on one of my Sheltie pages, for example. I sometimes use generic butterflies or generic birds in embellishment clusters, since those are kind of 'my' thing. But not obvious themed animal stuff.
eta: I take it back, on some of the Hawaii pages I did, I used tropical fish for 'beach' themed pages, or I will sometimes put a lizard on an AZ desert page.

I love sloths! Sometimes I'll embellish journal cards to fill up spaces in my 12x12 albums with divided sheet protectors. Add a saying and you're done.

My granddaughter and I wear faux animal prints so when I scrap those pics I use animal print paper. But specific animals are usually left to layouts about animals ie pets and zoo. Bunnies for Easter pages.
On baby layouts I do use animals of all kinds if they are baby oriented. I used lambs and bunnies recently on baby girl pages, and I've used fawns, birds etc on baby pages.
I also used owls on my college pages because our mascot is the Owls. Again very specific use.
I used some cute pandas on a page that took place at Panda Express. You probably won't find a more literal theme scrapper than me.

Cute animal embellishments are my scrapbooking weakness. I must bring all the critters home with me! Stickers, stamps, anything. I would say 85% of the stamps I own are just animal ones from Lawn Fawn, haha!
That being said, I do try and use them as often as I can. I use animal embellishments on layouts about the zoo, work (I used to work around animals), aquariums, and pets, but I also try to use them with unexpected photos as well. For example, the layout about my daughter getting her ears pierced has a large peacock embellishment on it.
Also, dinosaurs. I will put dinos on anything!

I don't know why this didn't occur to me but I just typed "goat stickers" and "goat rubber stamps" into Amazon and came up with a bunch. Now I'm trying to which ones to get...

I tend to use animals that stick with the theme--bears and rabbits and foxes for wilderness themed pages; lions and tigers and such for zoo pages, farm animals on the farm, horses on rodeo pages, dogs and cats on pet pages, elephants for the circus, fish for swimming pic's. Then deer at Christmas and bunnies at Easter. I used alot of P13 sweet curled up forest animals for Christmas cards one year.
Love images of foxes, but don't use them very often.

I don't even like animals in real life let alone in scrapbook form. I do put a butterfly on almost every single page I create, as not only a symbol/signature of me + a reminder of my surviving my PEs, but otherwise animals are only on animal-themed pages. I love when scrappers can randomly animal-up a page but tisn't me.

Let someone create a binturong. I'm in!
That said... I've used enough deer and bears *for Christmas...* they don't speak to me any more.
Now.. squirrels. Show me the squirrel. Rabbits.. eh. Mouse maybe? Let me see.. I may be in. Trash pandas... Same.. Could go either way.
But what the hell in the camping lines lately. Theres 8 states MAYBE with moose and they are everrrrrrry where this year. Blah.

Like grammadee I also tend to use animals where they fit with theme, so unicorns and dragons are my nemesis. I once did an advent swap with a scrappy friend and she filled one of my envelopes with nothing but unicorns, so I made a page about there being so many damn unicorns in scrapping and used as many as I could on that one page.

I don't use many animal embellishments unless I am scrapping zoo photos. I will place the random animal embellishments from a kit in an envelope for my niece.

Artbabe, you come up with the best questions! I guess I don't really use animal stickers unless they somehow refer to the l/o. Like monkeys for a chaotic situation or bees for "busy as...". But I would like more otters. Just because.

I love using animals on pages, but I have so many nature photos that it doesn't seem like they don't fit.
We live in a wooded area, take trips to kayak much of the summer, have zoo passes (see the sloths every visit), and you can't drive too far in my city and NOT see a llama.
This weekend we were just outside of the Rocky Mountain National Park kayaking and we were back on a lake that doesn't allow motors on the lake or even bike riders on the trails. It is about 4 miles back from the main road. The water was like glass (until it turned into the opening of Gilligan's for a few minutes) and then back to glass. We paddled up to dam (human made) and saw a beaver swim across the dam area. Then she came back and I just watched her swim past with what I thought was a rat in her mouth. She went back and fourth four times. On the second pass, I realized she was taking her babies from one spot on the shore to another. It was actually pretty cool to see that momma working so hard. At another lake the next day, we watched a moose come down to the water for a quick bath and then shake. Sad I didn't get a good photo of that. On that same island there was a tiny baby deer hanging out by the shore. One of the pelicans flew about 5 feet above our kayaks as we rested in between islands. In the RMNP, we saw moose, elk, deer, marmots, eagles and various other smaller creatures.
Our kids and their spouses went with us, so I have a nice assortment of nature and people I love in the photos.

This deck is a good 15 feet tall and I watched him fly off the deck into the tree you can see behind him. He was the first squirrel I have seen on our deck. He might make it into the album. Awwww!!!
We call our back sliders our dogs TV. She’ll sit there for hours just watching the backyard and all the animals that go back there. But the squirrels! Those little kamikaze buggers, they’ll drop from the roof right down in front of her face and then run off and it drives her crazy. So yes, I don’t think I could ever have too many squirrel embellishments.
I adore your little squirrel photo! What a great capture! Totally belongs in the album!

I don't even like animals in real life let alone in scrapbook form. Oh my gosh, I love animals! I've always loved mammals but lately I've been getting into birds. I watch too many bird tiktoks. And now the algorithm, for some reason, is showing me bearded dragon videos. I have never been a reptile person but I'm starting to really love bearded dragons. I will put an animal on a layout every chance I get.

950nancy, those photos are incredible. I can think of so many good collections that would go with those. Those photos would be so fun to scrap. And there are moose! The new Simply Vintage Lakeside line would be perfect for this. But what the hell in the camping lines lately. Theres 8 states MAYBE with moose and they are everrrrrrry where this year. Blah. I thought that about the moose, too! I've already scrapped a page about the moose at the zoo so I'm not sure what to do with the rest. They are in a lot of Christmas lines, too, but I don't have a problem with using those.

I will use animals on outdoor nature photos. I haven't had zoo pages in forever, but I suppose if I had an appropriate animal I might stick that on too. Overall I don't use too many animal embellishments; however, my partner's oldest daughter's favourite animal is the tiger so her pages are sometimes blessed with a random Heidi Swapp tiger

This is our zoo moose, Atka. He was "rescued" as a baby in Alaska when his mom had to be put down for attacking humans in 2020. He has a really beautiful enclosure and I do have quite a few moose photos and videos. We see moose every time we go to the RMNP national park, and I guess I didn't realize that moose weren't more abundant in the US. ETA: I just Googled. Apparently there are 19 states with moose and Colorado has over 3,000 of them. I know we get them in our city now and then. Attachments:

Okay, I'll admit it I have created a Pinterest board with mostly animals (so many sections!) and sayings I can use with each one. Super cheesy I know, but I love a good pun. I want to do an entire album of favorite photos with this concept. 😁
