Well, the subject pretty much says it all! I'm trying to up my card-making a notch by adding sentiments to the inside of the cards and I'm discovering that Memento Tuxedo Black is my best bet. So, I'm looking for another ink pad. Short of ordering online, all I'm seeing around here is the Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black. Can anyone tell me if there is any difference between the two? Thanks!

Memento are dye inks, while Memento Luxe are pigment inks. See Imagine Crafts links for more info. HTH.

If you see Versafine Onxy Black ink around it is probably the most commonly used black ink for card sentiments. I love it. It dries slow enough to heat emboss if you want to but fast enough that you don't have to worry about heat setting it. I would be hesitant to use a pigment ink for inside sentiments - I would worry about slow dry time and smudging. I'm not sure if Versafine is commonly sold in big box/local stores.

I recently bought a Versafine Clair pigment ink pad and I can’t exactly say was I love about it, but I LOVE that ink pad! It is not mushy ink at all. And was pea recommended. I Bought the Nocturne color.

Thank you for the suggestions. I didn't realize the Luxe was a pigment ink and I definitely don't want that. I've tried several Versafine inks over the years and I've not been very successful with them for some reason. But, it was a number of years ago and I've gotten much better at stamping since I started making cards too. Maybe I should give it another try! Aren't we glad we've got so many different choices! (Said slightly with tongue in cheek!)

Note VersaFine & VersaFine Clair are both quick-drying (approximately 5 seconds, per the manufacturer website ), archival, pigment inks that yield crisp words, detailed images, & saturated color (& VF Clair is still embossable minutes later). Personally, I exclusively incorporate stamping into scrapping (mostly alphas, sentiments, icons) & use VF Clair inks available at online retailers & (select colors) locally (& included in weekly sales) at JoAnn & Hobby Lobby. VF Clair Nocturne is a deep black.

The Luxe definitely takes longer to dry, as I discovered yesterday. I’d forgotten that it was a pigment ink. I had to stamp a second banner because I managed to smear the ink before it was dry. However, if you want to heat emboss, then a pigment ink is preferable.
