I'm in the middle of planning a 4 day, 3 night mini scrapping getaway (fingers crossed it all goes as I hope and actually happens!) but have never scrapped away from home in this fashion, so I have no idea where to start as far as what to bring!
What is a "must bring" that is likely to be forgotten? What's something you might bring and then regret? It's several days, so I do have time to really "camp out" there and I'm driving, so there's room to pack what I wish.
What have y'all done when you've done this before? I've never even been to a crop, nevermind a days-long trip, so I'm a totally newbie in that regard. Help?! Thank you!

I go to a 3 day crop in another state twice a year. A must have for me is my Ott light. I like for my workspace to be well lit. If you are working on any type of theme album it helps to limit the supplies you bring with you. My crop is coming up in August and I made page kits. I have about 20 made up with photos, papers, and embellishments. That keeps me from feeling as if I need to bring every paper I own. I do bring my Big Sot and some dies, but I don’t have a ton of dies. It’s basic shapes and some alphabets. Always plenty of adhesive because I don’t want to run out of that. I bring inks and some stamps. My best advice is bring anything that you use frequently on a page, whatever that is.

One time I forgot my photos, so make sure those are packed!
I also like to make page kits or at least pick 1 or 2 themes of photos to bring, so I can pack accordingly. These kind of getaways are when I like to work on a trip album, or a large set of photos from the same event.

I used to go to crops, but I almost always forgot something crucial every time. Without fail. Then I sat there, frustrated. I hope your scrapbook getaway goes better for you than mine did.
When we were getting ready to move halfway across the country, I put my essentials in my crop bag, along with page kits that I had put together. That worked far better than how I had previously packed for crops (which I had usually done in a hurry and with far less planning). I actually got some decent pages done, and I wasn’t scrambling due to missing supplies.
Plan your layouts ahead of time, so you’ll know what you need. I put my kits together in 2+ gallon zip lock bags. Those went in one side of the bag, and my tools and supplies in the other side.
Enjoy your getaway!

I would bring 2 or 3 themes to work on,then pack for them. Pack some post it notes to place for embellishments you want to use, but didn't bring. That way you'll remember what you were thinking after you get home.
I try to pre-match cardstock to the PP I'm bringing.
Have fun!

Have a wonderful time on your getaway. Once in awhile I would take sb supplies with me on vacation so I could work on projects while my husband played golf. And, like cannmom, your OttLite (or extra lighting) is a welcome item to bring along. I didn't do this the first time and I really needed it. I limited myself to a couple of projects and pulled the papers and extras that I thought I'd use on those. Also, extra adhesive.

Never been to a crop so no advice to offer (except I've read multiple stories about scrapbookers like kmage forgetting their photos so double-check for sure!) just wanted to wish you loads of fun on your scrappy getaway! 🚗✂️😊

One time I forgot my photos, so make sure those are packed! And if you’re ordering them from Persnickety Prints, make sure to place your order early enough so the photos arrive to your house before you leave vs arriving at your house two hours after you left to drive across the state. Yeah. 🫤 Bring enough adhesive and refills! I use an ATG which usually has plenty unless it’s almost empty. It lasted three layouts. 🤦🏻♀️ I love finishing my layouts with Nuvo Drops but don’t bring them with me. I’m never quite sure how much space I’ll have so wet finishing touches happen at home. I put a post it note on the back with what I still need/want to do.

Post-it notes are my number one thing I always have and others always borrow. I prep for a retreat by matching my pattern paper and cardstock to my photos. I bring minimal embellishments and usually finish the layouts at home. If you are taking a Cricut/Silhouette don't forget your mats and spatula. If you have access to a Cricut/Silhouette at your crop location still take a mat with you to use. My group of friends have found that if we each have our own mat sharing the machine is easier and less waiting. Have fun!

Photos!!! Choose a few themes you would like to scrap. Ideas! I print off sketches and the 2Peas Challenge list. Not all crop sites have good internet, so I will save or print any Pinterest inspiration I want to refer to. Tools & supplies: take the tools you know you will use. Your trimmer. A mat to work on--glass or self healing or... Pen, pencil, ruler. Scissors, Xacto knife, paper piercer, bone folder, whatever you use on a daily basis scrapping. Inks and brushes if you use them. Baby wipes and paper towels. If you are a Silhouette scrapper, ask your hosts if there will be accommodations for this, and if there will be, then take the machine, a laptop and extension cords. If you use dies, pack the ones you want to use and your Big Shot or other die cutter. If you don't think you need more than a couple of shapes cut, you can do those at home and pack them, but if you use this all the time, then take the machine. Papers & embellishments: I like options when I scrap, right up to the last decisions made as putting a page together. So I pack way too much stuff for the pages I come home with. But it gives me options when I want them. I have learned to decide early which stories I want to scrap, and to stick to a few themes. That lets me choose which supplies to pack. So if I am scrapping Christmas, then those are the supplies that go into the vehicle. Or last time I scrapped school and hockey and birthdays. I have tried doing page kits ahead of time, but that takes away all the fun of the creating process for me.
An album w page protectors to store your finished pages in to bring them home.

I'm going to a retreat this weekend so this is very timely! Just curious but are you in Texas? We have a new person coming to our retreat this week & her name starts with a G...
I don't think I've ever brought anything that I've "regretted" bringing - although I've brought too much stuff plenty of times! I usually like to work on a project that I know will be multiple pages but uses all the same "theme" of stuff (vacation/beach pages, Christmas, School, etc). I also have some page kits that I've already added photos too so I bring those as well.
I also like to make cards so I bring an assortment of stuff to make some cards if I get tired of making scrapbook pages.
A "must-have" item for me is a small TV tray size folding table that I keep beside me at my table. I use it to keep my sketch books, trimmer, etc on so they are close to me but not taking up table space.
I also bring my noise-cancelling headphones in case I just want to watch my own show on my ipad or listen to music. Also I bring a small fan that clips on my tool tote - it's summer & it's hot!

I have a friend that I admire SO much. She packs kits for each page that she plans on doing. Her mixed media is done ahead of time and she only brings what she needs. Sketches are printed out and filed with each kit. Die cutting is complete. I aspire to this level of organization and planning, but I always fail. Although, she does admit that she starts packing for a weekend crop two weeks in advance.
I definitely like being a collection scrapper for crops. I like to have options, but if I have a collection where I have bought papers and embellishments, etc. I feel like I have options within that collection. Then I can bring a few photos that work with that collection. Same thing with a "limited" theme. For example, I have only a few camping lines and supplies that are all mixed together. I have kitted them all together in a big zip top bag, so that is something easy for me to take without feeling like I have to pack everything but the kitchen sink.
Sometimes having a more limited selection makes me more creative--I use what I have. I once went to a weekend crop with only a Heidi Swapp paper pad and matching embellishments (and my photos). I was thrilled with how I made use of the paper pad and I still love all the pages I made.

Lots of good advice & ideas above. The only multi-day crops I've been to are close enough to home that I can run (ok, drive) back here if I forget something that turns out to be crucial. (One time I did forget the photos and DH surprised me by driving them out to me - he had noticed them still sitting there a couple of hours after I loaded the car and drove off. ) I will add a couple of things I didn't see mentioned: a comfortable chair pillow or seat insert for back support (IME, crop chairs are typically uncomfortable for long periods of sitting); and a water bottle or lidded cup with a straw (no one wants open cups of liquid anywhere near their projects). One thing of mine that usually gets borrowed by others is my adhesive remover. Mine is this EK Success one that has now been discontinued ( LINK), but I also have THIS ONE as a backup and it is good as well. It's one of those little things that you don't know you need until suddenly you need it urgently to save your layout...such as when you get distracted because it's a crop and you're having fun chatting and accidentally start adhering the backside of the page upside down...ask me how I know!

Just wanted to echo a chair cushion and good lighting. Amazon sells memory foam chair cushions that make any chair - folding chairs, hotel ballroom chairs etc more comfortable. Also, something to put your completed layouts in. An iris case or something like this?? I have a lightweight tote with pink handles but I'm not sure who makes it. www.scrapbook.com/store/cci-tt-sasc-pt12x12.html

I find that packing for scrapping in "waves" also helps. I'll pack what I think is a reasonable amount for the number of days and then pack another bag of stuff that I leave in the vehicle. I only bring in what I want to start with and rarely need to go to the additional bag of stuff. I do like knowing that I have it with me if I really need it.

I also don't leave the house without my photos, trimmer, ATG (and refills), and I also have at least 20 kits to choose from. Remembering these things will get me through any crop.

I've been to several weekend crops. I always bring a jacket or sweater. You never know what the temperature in the crop room will be. I've had friends forget their photos, trimmer, and adhesive (these three are the most common). Also, I can't sleep without a fan running, so I always bring a small fan if it's an overnight crop. I say make a list and check it twice. Go, enjoy, have loads of fun, and maybe make some memories. Don't forget to snap a few pics, just in case you want to scrap the even later.

Lots of good advice already, and I think there are some old threads on packing for crops if you search.
Extension cords chargers - phone, battery packs, etc wireless chargers headphones/earbuds snacks - candy wagon - if you have for loading/unloading stuff tool/cup holder for your table scotch tape (to tape garbage bag to table) tea bags/k cups
This thread is timely, I am going to Expo, first crop in over 3 years, so I need to revisit my lists/packing strategy...

I've forgotten my photos for one crop, my paper trimmer and scissors for another crop and adhesive for another so now I make sure I have a basic tool kit (paper trimmer/scissors, adhesive (tape runner and glue) and black and brown pens) and make sure I always have some photos. Most of the time back when I was going to crops it was either at a scrapbook expo or at a scrapbook store so if I forgot paper or embellishments I could always buy something. I usually page plan the month before the crop so I have all the kits ready to go.

The biggest must for me is to have stuff in some kind of kits. It is so convenient at a crop to pull out a bag that has matching paper and embellishments. It does take some time before crops to make them if you don't store stuff this way, but it is so handy. I don't add enamel dots, alphabets, washi, wood shapes, and things like that- I store those separate and make those kind of decisions at the crop. The big musts: Photos and underwear. I've forgotten both of those at weekend crops. Musts for me: Ott Light and extension cord Cushion for chair Something to put my little scrap trash in - I have a mini trash can but I've used a brown paper lunch bag, too. Adhesive! Bring loads and loads of adhesive - more than you'll ever need. Paper Cutter. I usually bring several because inevitably one of my friends forgets theirs. Scissors and ruler Pencil

Thanks everybody, this is so awesome and wicked helpful! I'm actually going on this trip solo - well, with my 3-month-old baby, too, but not meeting up with other scrappers (I wish! I don't know any in real life!) so what I bring is all I'll have access to. Is it totally bonkers for me to bring my printer? I print photos at home. I could certainly do a big print job before I go, but I generally "print as I go" so I don't know if/how that would affect my process. Thoughts?

I always bring my photo printer to retreats. It can be tricky printing wirelessly at hotels with the WiFi but I finally figured that out.

I finally got it to print, but I have no idea how I did it. I’m going again in a month, so any tips on this, Citygirl?

Scissors and ruler Pencil I once forgot pants. I do page kits also. I'll pick papers for my pictures, lettering, maybe some embellishments if I have something in mind, print out a sketch or scraplift inspiration and toss it all into a 2 gallon ziploc. I scrap slow & talk a lot so I plan for 10-12 pages per day knowing I won't get to all of them. It's nice having extras so I can still work on something I am in the mood for and it's nice having a few pages ready to go when I get home. Then separately, I'll have my tools, a couple of my favorite punches, and then basic embellishments like dots, inks, non-themed sticker sheets, a few sheets of cardstock, etc. I fly so I pack really light. It takes a bit of time for me to do this but I love it when I get there because I've made most of my decisions in advance, it takes 10 minutes to unpack & set up then 15 or to pack it up to go home. Have a great time!!!!!!!

I’m not a computer expert but I think it has something to do with the hotels router that interferes with your phone and printers ability to communicate. I do know my phone has to be off of the hotel wifi and on a “DIRECT” network in order for it to work. I think the printer has to be on wifi first and then that network comes up on my phone and I’m able to print wirelessly when I’m connected to it. It usually does mean my phone is offline tho so then you sometimes have to toggle back and forth between wifi and that to download photos from the cloud in order to print them. I think the Epson photo app also gives some decent trouble shooting ideas when you can’t locate the printer. I’ll have to actually write it down one of these times because I always waste about an hour farting around with it. I don’t give up tho because I would be completely sunk at a crop without being able to print wirelessly from my phone.
