I am not buying one right now, but am in the market to buy one when the weather turns. I was gifted one for my wedding 25 years ago, but got rid of it because it baked the mixing paddle into the middle of the bread and didn't make great bread in the first place.
Do you have a bread maker you love? And you are welcome to tell me to just bake my bread the normal way but I generally lack the will.

I have a Zojirushi and it's amazing - worlds better than the Oster I had years ago. My kids don't like bread baked in the oven anymore because of how soft the crust turns out in the Zo. It makes fairly normal sized bread slices too. That said.... it's so crazy expensive that I kind of have a hard time recommending it. I stalked FB marketplace until I found one for about 1/3 of the price.

Mine makes real sourdough without starter. It's a KBS large 17-in-one and it's on sale at Amazon right now for $150. ETA and right now there's an extra $20 off coupon.

I am waiting for my 18-ish year old bread maker to die so I have an excuse to buy a new one! Mine also has the shape of the paddle thingy baked into the bread, but I still love it. I don't have any recommendations for you, because I haven't looked at new ones yet. I'm interested to see what other Peas recommend.

I had one because when DH was alive he LOVED making bread. I hadn't used it since he passed so when COVID hit I gave it to my BFF (she has 4 kids) and she's made great use out of it. She's been using it a lot with the cost of groceries going up.

I love mine, but it also leaves the paddle in. I often use it to make cinnamon bread. It mixes, kneads, and lets it rise. Then I take the dough and roll/fill it with the cinnamon mixture and bake it in the regular oven.
Baking bread makes the house smell so good. When all I have to do is drop ingredients into the breadmaker, it's even better.

I have a bread man plus that’s about 25 years old. If it broke, I’d definitely replace it with another bread maker. We used it a lot when we had young kids, although I never found a wheat bead recipe we loved texture-wise, or we maybe would have continued to bake with it. What I’ve continued using it for is making dough for French bread and pizza crusts; very easy and saves time.
The grocery store bread we buy is now over $4/loaf, I could see justifying buying one!

I have an amazon basics one and so do my older kids. We tend to just make the dough in the breadmaker and then bake it in the oven because we prefer the shape of the oven loaves but it's always nice having the option of just setting it and letting it do it all. There is a paddle but unlike my previous (Oster) it slips out easily and doesn't leave a very big hole.

I have the Virtuoso Plus, but I think the Virtuoso and the Supreme are also good models. They do bake with the paddles in the loaf, but in my experience, the end result is less bothersome than most machines if that makes sense.

I just replaced mine as it had "walked" off the counter enough times that it was unusable.
However, I only use it to make dough and then freeze it for thawing on the day that I will use it. I hate the paddle baked in.

I found if you have a KitchenAid mixer with the dough hook, it’s just as easy to use a regular recipe and bake it in a regular oven. I never liked the bread from the bread maker.
