This comes up a lot on this board, so let's dive in....
How often do you scrap with themes? Always, sometimes, never?
I was looking at my old scrapbooks and I noticed my old stuff isn't near as themed as my newer pages. I think this is partly because most scrapbook lines are heavily themed anymore. If I look at old lines like Chatterbox, KI Memories, and early Basic Grey there were a lot of lines that didn't have a theme.
I'll admit that even if I'm doing a page with no obviously themed paper I am probably going to add some kind of embellishment that matches my theme.
If you don't use themes, what do you use for embellishments? Hearts? Stars? Flowers? What else?
I'd love to see some pages without themes.

sometimes - if I have themed stuff that works, I usually reach for it. But if not, I'm fine making an unthemed page and letting colours and photographs be the focus.
embellishments - hearts, stars, flowers, banners, tags, circles, enamel dots... but I'm not a heavy embellisher anyway

Almost all of my layouts are themed related.
There are a couple-few layouts, that are individual photos of myself. One was a glamour shot photo years ago, the others were regular photos..... with them, I do a "me" layout.

I’m a fan of themes. However, sometimes the themed paper colors don’t match my photos, usually color intensity. In that case I use paper that works. I do try to avoid using a ton of icons that pull the attention away from the photos.

Pretty much theme related scrapbooker. I am doing two weddings with non wedding themed lines though. I don't really like most wedding themed paper, so I am going with what the setting of the wedding was rather than the theme of wedding.

Most of my pages are events and holidays. So, I use themes that match the photos.
My first pages weren't as themed, but I had a very small stash. It mostly consisted of DCWV paper packs and cardstock for many years.

It’s pretty rare that I use themes. I’m a pretty clean and simple scrapper.

Almost all of my layouts are themed related. Most of mine seem to be themed in some way, too. A holiday. A fall outing. Historical sites. Beach. Disney trip. Renaissance Fair. I almost never take a photo that isn’t or can’t become a theme in some way. I did find one layout that I did about my sister and I that I decorated with flowers (she’s a gardener, and has a yard full of various flowers), but we were at a historical site that had been turned into a very trendy collection of quaint and quirky shops. Most of our family activities either fit themes naturally, or I find a way to make it into a theme. I titled the page of the two of us simply as “Sisters” which I guess can be considered a theme, too, but that one seems to be less themed than most. Until you asked this question, I never realized that I tend to do this. I did one layout of my dad that had no theme. I really wanted the photo to stand out. I used embossed papers and enlarged the photo to take up most of the page. It had multiple mats of different border thicknesses and a small amount of journaling. It worked well for that particular photo, but probably wouldn’t for most pictures.

Am I a theme scrapper? Yes, with a splash of "sometimes, I try not to be."
I enjoy coordinating my products with my photos. If I am scrapping our Christmas baking photos, I love adding little bits here and there that really make it look like the gingerbread house exploded and all the candy sprinkled on my layout. Sometimes, I feel a photo just calls for that.
But I do try and mix things up too. When I am working on a large project, like the Christmas season or my wedding, I like to incorporate multiple collections to vary up my embellishments and papers. For example, to scrap last year's Christmas, I used Doodlebug's Let It Snow along with Shimelle's Glitter Girl collections. I think the variety helps keep a project from getting boring for me to work on. Some of the layouts are way more Christmas-y than others, but all still coordinate together through the matching color schemes.
I do agree with you though, I think I am more of a theme scrapbooker simply because the products that are available today are very themed.

I am a themed scrapper most of the time. My go-to for non-themed layouts are my Felicity Jane kits. Here is an older non-themed layout. The paper was just so perfect for the photo. This or That 1 by Mikk Lynn, on Flickr

I think I am more of a theme scrapbooker simply because the products that are available today are very themed. I think this is where I fall too. I use the themed supplies because they came in the die cut pack or on the sticker sheet, and I think "realistically, when will I ever have an opportunity to use this specific thing again?" so on the page it goes. I do buy some themed products because they are themed; travel and Christmas and the occasional birthday themed supplies fall into this category. That said, I do consider how much of an embellishment pack I will use, and I tend to lean towards papers like map prints over luggage tags or suitcases because they better suit the photos and stories I scrap, and I usually pair those themed supplies with more general colours and patterns.

About 95% of my layouts are themed. I have a 9 year old so many pages lend themselves to it.

I am a theme scrapper, and have been since before the industry moved that way, but more with colours than individual icons. I ask a lot of circles and stars and doilies and other generic embellishments, but if one is available I like to throw on a sticker or diecut or stamped image that fits my theme.
I like to have options, so I collect a lot of themed diecut and sticker sets, and also wood and metal, but I don’t feel I have to use it all on one project. That is why I am drawn to the themed paper collections as well, even if they don’t go with these particular photos. Thus my huge stash…

I always scrap with themes. I will say 99.9% of the time just in case there is the odd layout here and there.

I'm a sometimes. I do scrap with some themes, but it's more in an effort to coordinate my photos with products that fit the mood of the photos. Hiking and nature photos often get scrapped on those types of paper lines, and lots of photos tend to get scrapped on seasonally appropriate paper lines (spring, fall, holiday, etc). I also get a kick out of finding a perfect embellishment for a photo that fits the theme.
I also love general lines as well though, and I have hoarded a lot of Vicki Boutin because I can use it for many different photos. It reminds me of my earlier days of scrapbooking. For these layouts I stick to general shapes when embellishing (circles, tags, banners, washi strips, hearts or stars, word stickers).

Primarily, I'm a themed scrapper.
I do have some layouts where I just based it more around the colors in the paper & photos and/or the photos were generic enough to not really be themed. But for the most part, if I've got beach pics, I'm using beachy paper, embellishments, etc....

I would say that I am mostly a non themed scrapbooker. When I first started scrapbooking I was young and childfree so the themed products did not really work with the kind of layouts that I was making. I tend to buy lines that are more on the versatile side and if I buy a themed collection I like ones with generic b sides like stripes and polka dots. I have a wide variety of single sheets with very different and specific patterns, I am more likely to use one single piece of themed paper than a whole collection pack of them.

I tend to lean toward products that aren't so themed they can't be used for anything else. I steer clear of a lot of EP and CB and Photoplay because they are so heavily themed.
