Okay, I'll admit it, I am totally lame at titles.
I see some of you have these really clever titles and mine are:
The name of the person in the photo The city or state the photo was taken in Beach Cool kid Awesome Love Happy Selfie
Rarely do I use anything interesting. I used Rub-a-Dub-Dub for a photo of my 3 nephews taking a bath together when they were little and I thought I was so clever. I used Two at the Zoo once and that was stepping out of the box. My titles are lame. I can occasionally be funny but I'm not a fan of punny.
I'm pretty content with my lack of imagination but I was wondering where everyone else gets their ideas.
Also, what do you use for making titles? Do you cut them out? Use stickers? Stamp?
Most of the time I use Thickers (adding glue, of course) or I use a premade one that comes with a collection (Cocoa Vanilla has great ones). Back before my Cricut cartridges got sticky I used to cut them out. That reminds me I need to de-stick my cartridges...
So tell me about your titles.

I am not big on journaling, so most often my titles describe the photo itself, whether it is a specific location, person, or something nice and generic. I also enjoy a good pun or using a quote from the event.
For example, a recent layout I did was of my grandmother and husband going for a ride in the car. What I remember most about that day was my mother (jokingly) threatening my husband not to speed with grandma in the car, so the title wound up being "You better not speed with Grandma!" Ha!
(And yes, he did race around with grandma!)

I’m not big on journaling, so I like to make my titles special.
I try to capture things as they are said, to use later as a title. For example, we went to SeaWorld earlier this week. My friend’s 7yo daughter said “so gross, but cool” when talking about the cleaner fish. I’ll use that as the title when scrapbooking about the explorers reef area.
Another place I like to look is on Etsy. There are t-shirts, etc. that have cute or funny says related to all sorts of things. For example, a layout of the flamingos at the zoo will be called “Flocking Fabulous”. It was seen on a shirt in a gift store in SeaWorld. It’s also found on shirts on Etsy.
I use Thickers or other alphabet stickers. I enjoy mixing and matching colors, sizes and fonts from word to word. I’ve recently started including stamping words, too.

I journal on virtually all of my layouts and I usually take my titles from that. It can be a word or two and sometimes even a short phrase taken directly from what I've written.

I often don't have a title and when I do - it's pretty basic

I like to look at the phrases and words on die cuts or sticker sheets for whatever supplies I am using.
There is an ebook from SG/AD called Writing to Remember. It's a very large ebook but I have used the section just on titles a ton of times.
Other times I go with whatever pops into my head while I am working on the layout. My latest process video has a title "of course they are sleeping " and the layout I am working on today my title is "hello nachos beer and normalcy"

I am totally lame when it comes to titles too! I wish I had just an ounce of kitbop 's creativity when it comes to titles. It's embarrassing to admit how many times I've looked at my almost-finished page and thought "WWKD" (What would Kitbop do) hahahaha! There are some photos / pages that I think don't actually need a title. If I'm scrapping a photo of my DD, just because it's a gorgeous photo, I won't put a title on it. Instead I will use little word strips on the page. I am LOLing at the Rub-a-Dub-Dub title. Didn't we all do that exact page back in the late 90s?

I love titles.
I use a word related to the photos. I'd have to pull out my scrapbooks, to list them all.
Here are some I've used in the past. Birthday Party Concert Night out Hanging out Celebrate Star of the show Dessert Good times Ice cream At the park Parade Treats Ball game School Play Shopping Barbeque Karaoke Singing Dancing Cocktails Friends Crazy!

I love a clever title, but I am not clever. Most of my photos are events, so it's usually self explanatory. When I first started scrapping, I'd agonize over what my title should be because I thought it was some kind of requirement. Now, I rarely do them. Even if it's a page that is just photos with no obvious back story. I add that in the journaling and skip the title.

I like a clever title when I can think of one. If not, I at least want the title to be descriptive. I did a layout today with the title "Visiting Longtime Friends" I didn't want it to say "old friends" even though the friends were people I went to high school with. I refuse to think of us as old.
I usually use Thickers for the main words and sometimes stickers for part of it. "Visiting" was made with October Afternoon stickers and the rest with some old BAsic Grey chipboard Thickers. You can tell that all my supplies are old, even if I don't want to refer to my friends with that adjective.

I’m not creative with titles. My favorite is a two page layout with pictures of my dog sleeping belly up, legs splayed in different places in the house. I titled it “Let Sleeping Dogs Lie”.

Almost all my pages have titles (or 1 title for a 2-page LO). I get the titles in all kinds of ways, sometimes from the journaling, something that was said in the story/photo, the who-what-when-where of the page(s), a punny phrase when I can think of one (rare!), something particular about one of the photos, a memory of something related to the photo...all kinds of things.
Almost all of my titles are cut on my Silhouette, except for older pages that I completed before I had the Cameo. Once in a while I'll still use alpha stickers to make a title, but not very often. I just love the look and simplicity of cutting my own titles in my own font and color choice to complement the page. Sometimes if I'm at a crop I'll force myself to use alpha stickers for all my titles on pages completed at the crop (because I don't bring my Cameo to crops with me).

I do like a good title. I have Beach, Please from years ago before it became a saying. It was also a saying I could put in my book that my MIL would have no idea I was almost cussing on my page.
I'd say many of my titles are creativeish, but I am happy to use a premade title from Simple Stories (or others) if they work for the page.

I'm not the most original with titles but I had a huge success this week.
I scrapped photos of us at the Muppets show at Hollywood studios. The layout was not coming together and I was hating it.
I had the movie poster in the middle. Then it came to me: on both sides I stamped "mah na mah na" It was perfect. Then the bottom part of the page was a big pocket and I stamped and used stickers to spell out "do do do do" a bunch of times.
I love the page so much now when it was horrible at first.
What's also funny is that I had to look up how to spell mah na mah na. I wrote it down and it was on a scrap of paper on the table. My husband was like, what the heck is this? I told him and now he can't get the song out of his head.
But usually, my titles are so boring.
Mostly I use sticker letters but I have recently bought some rubber alphas and having a lot of fun.
Other titles (I've been scrapping Disney trips): Gaston (for our photos with -- you guessed it, Gaston) Be Our Guest (for photos with Belle) Epcot (for Epcot) The Castle (I can't remember, ha ha).
I'm with you!

What's also funny is that I had to look up how to spell mah na mah na. I have a layout named mah na mah na as well...and had to google the spelling when I did it! The title is really really important to me. I like it to capture attention, and convey the basic emotion/mood I'm looking for. Sometimes, a long title can stand in for journaling IMO. The last layout I did I titled "tuff stuff" because I liked the way it looked spelled that way, and I was poking fun at my DH standing in a cold lake and then lifting 1 leg up like a flamingo because it was so cold! But I was also in a rush... so I didn't spend any more time on it than that. I typically start with a general idea I want to convey in my title, then look for aliteration, rhymes, or words that just feel good in my mouth. I consult an on-line thesaurus and my DH if I need a word that fits better. I look for puns, inside jokes about movies/music, and sometimes it's just a descriptive phrase if it feels right. Example - "cavalcade of wonderment" - started with "surprise drive-by". But I really wanted to convey the EMOTION in my DDs joy and surprise in her birthday drive-by. The online thesaurus led me to the words that fit for me.

... I was wondering where everyone else gets their ideas. Also, what do you use for making titles? Do you cut them out? Use stickers? Stamp? ... For me, every layout starts with a story. I strive for a custom title on each layout that reflects/supports its story (in words, color, product, tone, etc.) & typically use one or a combination of types, fonts, &/or sizes of alphanumeric dies, stamps, &/or stickers.

Well, just looking at the images of the layouts I posted under the stamping on layouts thread, mine are obviously pretty hum drum. However, I think cutesy titles really don’t suit the majority of my pages. My kids are older, not cute little munchkins, so a more simple, descriptive title seems more appropriate than trying to be clever. It’s great if the photos lend themselves to a fun title, but I’m not going to feel as if something is lacking on my layout just because my titles are descriptive instead.
I bought books of title ideas years ago. Have I used any of the titles? Few, if any. They didn’t fit my layouts. Most of my titles are a simple introduction to the photos, and most of my photos seem to be a bit different than what most people scrapbook, anyway.
Sometimes I will dress up the letters of the title, though. I usually die cut my titles with my Cameo, which means I can stamp on them, ink them, or dress up the letters in some way, and I love using different fonts. I have a ton of fonts to choose from.

My first thought was “I use Thickers.” Then I looked back at my latest layouts. I’ve been using cards or stickers that match my papers or memorabilia a lot. For example, my friend and I went to Menopause the Musical and I included the program and let it be my title. I did a page on learning to knit and I had a card that said Knit Wit so I used that. If I do use Thickers usually my title is pretty basic and short.

I attempt to come up with clever titles - sometimes I do, sometimes it's just simply what the photos are about. I do try to avoid stating the occasion and the year, for example Christmas 2021 or Easter 2015. So a Christmas title might instead be 'At Christmas, Together is the best place to be' with Together using thickers, and the rest of the title in typed text. 'Oh what fun', 'Be Merry', 'O Christmas Tree', and 'Deck the Halls' are other titles I used for Christmas photos that same year. I do the title near the end of my page creation, so I just stare at the photos or journaling until something comes to mind. I most frequently cut titles with a tool - cameo or Quickutz or Cricut - but I have a large collection of alpha stickers and Thickers I use when I can make them work.

I have always used Thickers, but I also just purchased a Cricut Joy so that I have more options. Truthfully, I only have a few different styles of thickers in mostly neutrals with some random other colors. But, I’m bored with the same old thing.
I also will cut my own alphas free hand if the layout works with a less polished look. For my subtitles I use my massive stash of KP and SC small alphas.

I often use song titles, or snippets of lyrics for titles. Sometimes the first thing that comes to mind about a subject or event or story is a song, and I can’t get it out of my mind so it ends up being the title, or part of the journaling. For example, a layout of birthday celebration photos for my dd’s 19th bday was titled “Hey 19” from the Steely Dan song (my dd had no clue about the reference ) Movie lines and quotes are also sometimes good to use as titles, or a jumping off point. In my family we are constantly quoting lines from tv shows and movies, and we have a ton of inside family jokes and references, so they will often end up as titles or part of the journaling

I like to include alliteration or rhyming. I was flipping back through photos and saw “Alligator Hour”, “Packet Pick Up”, “Sister Smiles”, and “Puppy Playtime”. A lot of my titles are short phrases that simply describe the event. If I can toss a pun in there, all the better. Lines from songs, plays, or movies are always good for titles. “Remember who you are” and “There’s Magic in the Air” from The Lion King. A lot of my titles are basic though “Happy Girl”, “Hello, Big Brother”, “Sweet Cinderella”. If all else fails, a noun with an adjective save the day. I like to use thesaurus.com for many of the adjectives.
My favorite title I’ve done recently was about The Color Run. “From Start to Finish, Never too Much Color for these Two in Tutus”. That’s quite a bit longer than my usual title, but the layout was for 2/22/22 so homophones felt like a good idea.

The title is an important element of the LO to me, and definitely part of the planning. Often when wondering how to scrap a story, I struggle until I know what the title will be. Then it all falls together around that. It might come from something I saw on a sign or a PL card or a page on Pinterest. It might be something one of the people in the photos said, or a common saying that catches the mood. If I am scrapping with others, I will ask for their ideas. My titles are not nearly as imaginative as kitbop's, because once I have something that works, I tend to run with it rather than looking for something better. I usually use stickers/thickers for titles. Occasionally I cut letters with one of the two sizes of letter dies I have. A few I cut with Silhouette. Once in a blue moon, I stamp some of it, or stamp the background for it, but that is usually only if I am trying to meet a recipe challenge that calls for stamping. Most of my titles have more than one word, and usually at least two font sizes. I love one of the words big & bold with a variety of fonts/colours/thicknesses, but don't do this every time.

I love a clever title but they’re not always my ideas. I ask DD for suggestions all the time. My favorite one from her was when I was scrapping a picture of some chocolates, a candle, and a box of chai tea that she had bought for me. Her suggestion was Sweet Chai O’ Mine. I usually cut my titles with my Silhouette but will use Thickers if I want to finish up faster.

someone back in the day decided funny / clever titles were a 'thing' but who the heck cares what they think? lol. I say that because either my titles are long (like a whole line of journaling long) or I don't use them. Usually I end up with so many pictures and journaling on the page that I end up not having room for a 'fancy title' anyway.

I like to include alliteration or rhyming. Yes! I do this as well. Your examples reminded me of a layout I made for the Pokemon orchestra concert we took the kids to. I was stuck on a title, so I called my mom for ideas. She came up with "Philharmonic fun!" If I can't think of a title, I do ask other people. My husband, daughter, sister and mom have all helped me come up with titles for a scrapbook page. Sometimes it is fun to see what someone else can come up with.

I think most of my titles are fairly generic, on my travel pages I often go with something that identifies the place. I do love a good title with some alliteration or a pun, but I don't always have the right photos or story for that, sometimes I just want a title that makes it really clear where I am.
For those pages that do have something a bit more out of the box, I look for titles that really give colour and hopefully encourage people to read the story. Last sketchtember I did a page titled Captain Horatio Hornblower and the cute guy at the video shop. The title really encapsulated key parts of the story I wanted to tell about our regular visits to the local video shop: my housemate used to refer to the staff member we usually saw as "the cute guy at the video shop" and the Captain Horatio Hornblower movies used to give us the giggles because they sounded so ridiculous and somewhat dirty. I know I'd be much more likely to read this story based on the title alone than one titled "birthday dinner".
