Backstory: My sister passed away almost 2 years ago from Covid. It has been a hard time for all of us with lots of blessings thrown in. One blessing is her youngest son is getting married this coming week. We are all flying to a destination wedding spot and he has asked my mom (so his grandmother) to dance with him during the traditional groom and mom dance.
He is looking for a good song. One that will work with dancing with his grandmother, but as he said (and yes,I almost cried) one we think his mom would have liked. It can be any type of music. I just need some good suggestions.

I'm not a big fan of the songs that seem written for the wedding dances or that are too sentimental - I would go with something like "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers or "Stand By Me".

We used 93 Million Miles by Jason Mraz. The lyrics and the upbeat music really resonated with both of us. A big plus for us was that the song was appropriate for a mother/son dance and it was unique (two of our requirements when we both started looking for a song).

Hold On To Memories by Disturbed. Don't discount it because it's a Disturbed song. It's the song my son and I danced to and it was perfect for us. The lyrics would almost be perfect in this situation.

DS and I danced to this one at his wedding on Saturday! Great choice.

First one that comes to mind is Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion.

If it were me, I'd pick a song that your sister would have loved. I wouldn't worry about it being wedding appropriate or having some deep meaning.
For example, if she was a James Taylor fan, I might choose "How Sweet It Is."

Thank you everyone. Im off to listen to these songs and see what clicks. My mom was so touched to be asked to dance. She thought he would skip doing it, as it has to be hard for him. Im expecting tears. They have really included her in so much and it means the world to her. She is 82 and honestly, she is going to steal the show. She is a beauty who loves her family!!!!!

I heard Nat King Cole’s Unforgettable in the car tonight and I think that would be perfect.
