I honestly don’t know why more people don’t know this. One of the more interesting times in American history. Lots of similarities between 1920-1940’s and now. Both in the USA & internationally. Another thing most people don’t see or refuse to recognize.
I love American history & history in general. The books I choose to read are usually histories or biographies. While I would NEVER say history repeats itself, I do say human nature does, with very unfortunate results.

I honestly don’t know why more people don’t know this. Most likely because it wasn't taught in school. Or it was taught in such a boring way they don't remember. Just an example of what I learned in US Government class. We had to memorize all the presidents and their vice presidents; the different branches of government; the preamble to the constitution. Nothing in depth. This was a class required for seniors in high school. I remember none of it. I don't do well with rote memorization.

One of my boys favorite history teachers talked about how history is usually a bunch of boring old dead guys. He worked really hard to make it fun, interesting and relevant to them without rote memorization. They had revolutionary and civil war reenactments.

I do know this but I’m an admitted history nerd with a Political Science degree. Don’t ask me to do any sort of math though, my brain is stuffed full of weird trivia and has no capacity for numbers left

Well I had no clue but my US history was taught by a football coach, so that may explain some things.

I was lucky enough to grow up in a town with a superb public school system. Bad teachers never lasted more than one school year. Rote memorization would get a teacher fired. Students in general loved & respected our teachers. Fortunately their principals also backed them up. My first 2 years in college (let’s just say Ivy League) were a repeat of my last 3 years of high school, right down to the text books. Good teachers can literally change your life. It is so sad that more kids don’t get to experience what I got with my public school education.
