That's a really fun, creative idea! I thought maybe we should try it until that Jenga tower made me pause to think about cost.
And if sampling the cookies was an actual *penalty* (instead of just being behind on your count)... there would be NO WAY I could be successful!

As someone who gets fatigued after baking just one batch of cookies, I am in awe of his endurance and dedication.

When I bake cookies I usually eat a cookie off of each tray that comes out of the oven - for quality control purposes. That is a lot of cookies! Were there any burned trays of cookies? I feel like I would have a few trays in those last hours that would show that I lost focus. I love this.

Ok this reminded of my office working days where every Christmas we’d do a cookie exchange. I had to make 12 dozen cookies…. and I thought that was a lot of cookies!! 😆😆😆

I suggested he just swap the chips with something else like rainbow Jimmies but he wanted it to be a legit recipe. Awesome! And I haven't heard "jimmies" since we moved from PA (actually, before or since) 😀 Every night the cats get their "bedtime jimmies" which came from adding a few sprinkles of dry food onto the wet food. The first time I saw sprinkles listed as "jimmies" at the grocery store, it became part of our household lingo. Unlike jawn, though I can appreciate that one. Part of my name is Jimmy and as a kid my grandpa convinced me that jimmies were named for me. Yeah, I told everyone! 😁

Good for your son! I'm not fond of baking, so I was hoping the challenge was to eat 1,000 cookies in a day.

He said the very last tray were not burned, but a bit crispy bc he couldn’t reach them in time. But he was already over 1,000 by that point. Total was 1,021. Each batch made more than he anticipated so he didn’t need to make as many batches as he calculated.

Now I want, no make that NEED some fresh warm chocolate chip cookies! He should sell them to the peas. Wait, we had a negative experience with cookie selling for some strange reason. That was on the old board though, wasn’t it? No conflicts here, right? I would love to order a dozen since I cannot bake my own for months to come. All my equipment has been packed into boxes and I can’t imagine trying to make cookies without my Kitchenaid mixer. Even my cookie sheets are in a box, in a pod, and in some warehouse in Los Angeles.
I see both of your boys have a wickedly fun sense of humor!

You could use the sun or a grill if you wanted… we have a double oven too, and he only used 2 trays but he didn’t feel like swapping 4 trays at once. His time would have been significantly reduced but his stress would prob be up.

Freaking AMAZING!! How has he distributed all of them? Does he have any left? He’s still figuring that part out! I think he wanted to be like the cookie fairy and share cookies with everyone he knows. People on fb are saying he should donate to charity... or give them a bunch for their own event. There’s enough for him to spread a lot of love around. So far he took a tray to work and a few family members stopped over to get some. He will prob take some to church tomorrow, he’s working with the kids. After that I’m not sure. I met these sweet ladies, a matriarch and her two adult daughters, on vacation. (He baked while we were away.) They were so invested in his story, every day they asked for updates. So I’m hoping he will let me send some to them, I think that would be a nice surprise. But he doesn’t understand that sending cookies in the mail is a thing. They are his cookies so I don’t want to press him to do anything, you know?

Them: Tell us an unusual fact about yourself. Him: I baked over 1000 cookies in a day!

A dude after my own heart! I love chocolate chip cookies. It is one of my favorite memories with my grandmother. Now when I bake it's a double/double batch. I then give them away!

Wow! That's an incredible accomplishment. Boy, your son really knows how to stick to his plans, doesn't he? I just can't imagine baking that many cookies, especially not all in one day. Good for him!

Oh my gosh! What dedication!! (Side note---when you said he picked Tollhouse cookies because it's a tried & true recipe, my first thought was my grandmother, who hated making Tollhouse cookies because they always turned out as "Flathouse" cookies instead. I must have inherited that cookie baking issue, because chocolate chip cookies love to come out flat as pancakes for me as well. )

What a likeable young man! I like his sense of humor, too (the good luck remark). Your house (or maybe your whole block!) must have smelled wonderful.

When my sil came by to get some cookies she said the same thing, they always come out flat. I can’t remember if mine still do, but they def have in the past. These cookies are dang near perfect.
