So sad about that. I practically wore out all of her records in the 70s and 80s. Especially Xanadu!!!

I totally did not remember this video though I loved the song at the time. I think we were 8 or 9 and had singing competitions on the low brick wall around my friend's house. I'm sure we were as hilarious looking as this awful video. Every slumber party featured sing-alongs to Grease and Xanadu as well. ❤️ music.youtube.com/watch?v=4LjNxtwf7jo&feature=share

Oh man. My husband will be sad to hear this. He, unlike myself, does not have a fiery hatred for the movie Grease and will turn it on when it's on (even if it's for 5 minutes).

This does make me sad. She always came across as a genuinely happy and sunny person.
My 1 degree of separation story is her then husband, Matt Lattanzi, worked out at the small gym where I worked when he was filming Roxanne in Vancouver (late 80s?). He was a super nice, very chatty and very New Agey guy, and I was always hoping he would bring Olivia in with him.

Man she has battled so many health issues for so many years. She was a rock star beating the odds.
John's reaction is so very sweet.
I am so sad... RIP Sandy...

My entire family has been texting me this afternoon. They know how much I LOVED her. I sing, and I feel like Olivia had a lot to do with my "training." When I was young, I would make a microphone out of foil. I would sing to her music for hours and hours. She truly was my idol as a young girl/teen. Then I went on to sing in University choir, did some solos, etc. She truly is one I love to continue to sing to. Oh goodness, a treasure has been lost. Prayers for her family!

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed Rest In Peace. I loved the movie Grease and was eager to share it with my kids. I even got the soundtrack. It wasn’t until I heard my then 6 year old DD singing about “ lousy with virginity” that I thought maybe she was still a little young!

I distinctly remember seeing Grease at in Anchorage Alaska when I was five. I remember all the adults laughing at Sid Ceaser, EveVarden, Frankie Avalon and having no idea why but being mesmerized by Olivia/Sandy. When wE walked out of the theater my dad asked what I thought and my response was, “ I love her .” He asked who I meant and I said, “Sandy, I love her”. The next day he bought me the album and I listened to it nonstop the rest of my trip and I when I got home I listened to it over and over and over. My poor mother! When cassettes became more of a thing I bought the Grease cassette and proceeded to wear out at least three of them. My mom bought every other cassettes she made for me. I would go to sleep listening to Please Mr. Please, Sam, Changes, Small Talk and Pride, Jolene, don’t cry for me Argentina, etc, I’ve loved her for 45 years and this news made me really really sad today.
For some reason I don’t recall her ever touring to Portland when I was younger, which is odd since this is where her ex-husband was from, but maybe my mom just couldn’t afford to get tickets or didn’t wanna take me, I don’t know . Around 99 maybe 2000 she did a tour and came to Portland. Finances were very tight for my husband and I at the time . We had just gotten married , bought a house and there was a lot of personal issues going on that we’re sucking up all our money and we did not have any extra money but I desperately wanted to see her. My husband told me to buy tickets , so I looked at the prices. I told him it would be too expensive for two of us even with the nose bleeds. He told me to buy the best ticket I could for myself and we would figure it out. I bought myself a second row, center seat. I am often thankful that I went, but especially today.
She was even more beautiful in real life and her voice still makes me melt. I am very sad for her family and loved ones today. I hope her passing was peaceful and I am glad she was surrounded by the people she loved.
We are watching Xanadu and Grease tonight in her honor.
