the only ones i have memorized are DH's, my sister, and my brother's. that's only because they pretty much haven't changed their numbers since they got their cellphones.

Not since auto dial started.
I keep a few peoples numbers on a paper in my purse, just in case....for some reason my phone is not accessible.

I know mine, DH's and my Dad's. For a long time I would have to look up my Dad's every time I needed it for an emergency contact (when DH and I were traveling International and we needed someone stateside to give to cat sitter, neighbor, etc.) Now that I have it memorized, I can also use it for his Walgreens rewards cards because we don't have one for ourselves, lol.

For my family members and close friends, yes.
For newer folks in my life - nope.

Yes, I have a number thing. I can also tell you my first credit card number from 1986.

I used to know so many phone numbers also but then everyone here had the same first 6 digits so it wasn't that hard. We still don't have to dial the area code for local landlines. I still remember a few landlines. The only cell number I know is DH's.

I don't memorise people's numbers anymore but still remember a few old ones from when I was a child.

Not any more. If it's a number I would be physically having to dial every day, then I would, but I honestly don't know the last time I called someone.

Ha! lol. I'm lucky if I can remember my own phone number, never mind anyone else's. I do know my dh's office number but I just realized that I'm only confident with it if I see the actual number bad. I have my dd's ds's, and dh's cell numbers written down and in my purse just in case for some reason I don't have my phone or it isn't working. Guess I'll add dh's office number to that list.

I know my parents' home phone because they had the same number when I grew up there. I know our own home phone. I know the number for my vet's office. And that is all. I don't even know my own cell phone number, let alone anyone else's.

I'm terrible with numbers. So I have never been one to remember many phone numbers. And I don't even use my cell outside of my car, so I still need to enter numbers, but except for maybe 6 numbers that I have routinely called for many years now, I have to always look up every number I want to call in my planner.

I used to remember everyone’s home phone numbers. My first full time job was with a Telco. At the time it was the only Telco in the country. I knew which prefixes were for which suburbs, and memorising numbers came very easy to me.
But for some reason I can’t really remember mobile phone numbers. I know DSO’s and the kids’ and my mum’s numbers, but nobody else’s. I always make sure to ring them in full rather than selecting the name, so I can remember them.

I remember older ones too. I've told my now adult kids if there's ever a catastrophe of some sort I have to get a hold of each other and we no longer have numbers saved, it'll be up to them to contact me. I've had the same number since they were little so they know it better than me. (Mom, mom, mom, mom!)
If pressed, I could probably call them by memory but may get one or the other randomly/mix up numbers. Just so used to just touching their face/pic in my home screen.

No. If I HAD to get a tattoo for some reason I would get a few key numbers somewhere discreet...my kids, my husband, my sister. I know my husband's only...and my mind could go blank in an emergency.

AussieMeg good idea actually punching in the number to call. I look every so often to see if I remember but this would (or should😉) certainly help. @podlove Also, good tattoo idea. I thought of that once or twice, too. "In case if emergency call..."

katlady, an old thread bumped - could you update the title? Or are we collectively going to ignore the bots and just re-hash the old topics? 😁

No. I only know my dh’s phone number. Everyone else is on speed dial or in my contacts.
I can tell you my phone growing up that I haven’t had for 42 years though…😝

I know my cell, my husband's and our house line. I kind of know my parents (only bc their cell numbers are 1 off, so I can't remember whose ends with 8 and whose ends with 7) and their home landline. I don't know my kids. I can tell you my childhood home phone, the library (bc I worked there as a teenger), my high school (which is now my kids) and my best friend. And of course, 867-5309 (Jenny).

I only know my childhood landline number which my parents still use; time which no longer works (853-1212); and of course Jenny (867-5309). If I lost my phone I'd be in a world of shit.
