I've done lots of searches for this, but it seems like if you ask 10 crafters what the best adhesive to use to re-sticky a Silhouette Cameo mat is, you'll get 12 different answers! I've seen everything from quilting basting spray to Krylon spray adhesive to tape runner.
Just wondering if anyone here has tried more than one adhesive, and what worked best? I don't have anything on hand so I'll have to order something. I'd rather not buy multiples of something I'm unlikely to use for anything else.
Thanks so much!

I have a Cricut. I could never get them to re-sticky. I've tried them all. Scraping and washing in Dawn dish soap. Using a Zig glue pen. Spray adhesive. Aleens craft glue.
Recently I've just been using washi tape to stick down my paper. I re-use the tape over and over again.

For my cricut mats I use the zig glue pen or Aleene's Tack It Over and Over and have had good luck with both of them. I think the Aleene's works better. I've never tried anything else to compare. I did buy some spray adhesive but seemed like too much of a pain to tape of the edges, etc.

Before reading these posts I tried Aleene's Tack It Over and Over, and it was totally horrible. I dotted a thin line around the mat, and then spread it thin using an old credit card, to make a thin layer of glue over the whole mat. Let it dry until tacky. Then stuck on my cardstock and cut. And now I can't get any cardstock off my mat. I will soak it and try again. I can order another mat, just wanted to stretch the life of this one a little.

With the Aleene's you have to dilute it. 1/2 water 1/2 glue otherwise it will be too sticky.

I seem to ruin my mats with random cuts from wrong settings before the sticky wears out. I did try scrubbing paper off one mat when I used really crummy paper from Hobby Lobby and it was completely stuck to the mat. I washed the mat to remove the paper, but then had to use a scrubbie to get the paper off the mat and pretty much scraped all the adhesive off the mat. I've used the really wide 1" Zig pens to restick parts of the mat, but haven't done the whole thing.
If you have the Aleene glue already, try watering it down like Breatheflea suggested. Just use a cereal box or something to play with the dilution. Stick scraps of the paper to the dried adhesive and see how easily it comes off.

I use the Slice repositionable spray adhesive to stretch my Silhouette mat. I think I wiped it down and let it dry before spraying initially.

I use the Zig wide tip. It's easy, and I'm lazy. I they not to have it too thick of a coating, just thin. You do have to let them dry overnight uncovered. It has worked fine for me for my Cameo, Cricut, and Gazelle mats.

I have tried the krylon spray. Hated it. lumpy adhesive, not a smooth coat. Haven't tried anything since that disaster...

I have great luck with the Krylon spray - lol
Don't over scrape your mat. If you have lots of deep cuts in your mat and have fine pieces of it coming up - scraping it will make it worse.
Lightly clean it. Make sure it is dry. Tape off the edges with painters tape. LIGHTLY spray with the Krylon Easy Tack. Let it dry for a bit and then give it another LIGHT coat. I let it dry 24 hours then.
My mats are lasting a lot longer now that I make sure my cut settings are not too deep. I can wash them several times to bring back the sticky. I wet them with warm water and gently use my finger tips to loosen the debris. I don't even use soap. Run some more warm water over it to wash off the dirt. Shake off the water and let dry completely. They will be nice and sticky again. Just don't get carried away rubbing and scraping.

I use the Krylon spray too. One can lasts forever. They stick very well after that.
