I’ve never used this die, and made 16 of these flowers, and a bunch of their leaves. So, if you wanted to zhuzh up the flowers at this point (fully assembled), what would you do to them? Also, I have a related question I’m going to throw in here since I’m not wording it correctly to get Google to answer…anyhow, for how long after applying distress oxides do they react to water? Ok, my little hijack over 🤪 Also wondering, do you have any card layout ideas for these? They are good sized (second photo), which is limiting. I lean towards a modern esthetic. When I google the set (Honey Bee Coneflower) Im not really getting excited. It’s times like these I realize how much of a newbie I am to card-making, KWIM? Thanks❣️ ETA: ugh, hang tight for the photos 🙄

How about shaping the petals for a little dimension......like this: sizzix shaping toolHella long, scroll toward end. And distress oxide remains reactive forever, even after drying, unless sealed with something. ETA: Those are really pretty!

Beautiful flowers. You can use white gel pen or stickels to add something to the leaves and flowers.
And I believe distress inks stay water reactive until you seal it. So you can sprinkle it with water and dab it off.
You can always search on Pintrest for some sketch ideas. There is a lot of arrangement ideas , you can always add more foliage to them too.

Those are pretty! I would do something similar to this design, but I'm a big fan of a white background. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJu5hHocnfsI'm watching her video now...man that's a lot of layers. I think I counted five. Nice and chunky!

MichyM Oxides are reactive with water just like Distress Inks. The difference is that oxides will oxidize to give a dreamy, creamy look. If you don't like that look, you can use Distress Microglaze over the Distress Oxides and it brightens the color. Plus microglaze seals and waterproofs. You use just a tiny amount as a little goes a long ways. Tim Holtz has videos on his Youtube Channel that are really good. One is a QA Demo for Distress Oxides and Distress Inks. They are long because it is like you are taking an in person class but if you want to use the products correctly and learn some cool techniques, then watch them! Your flowers look great, you could add some darker color to highlight and use the Sizzix Shaping tool. There is a vide on that too! Your flowers look great!

Thanks ladies, off to check out the links. And thank you so much for letting me know the oxides remain water reactive indefinitely. That's really good to know!

I'd add some bees or a an adventurous snail, mouse or other little critter to the coneflowers, maybe using one as a parasol or bed! They look like they'd make good umbrellas on a rainy day. But if you're not feeling like making more elements, I'd agree a simple background would probably offset these the best.

ooh, I think they're lovely. I tend to be really quite boring with mine (I have the sunflower) but one design I like is hanging on the edge of an oval die cut frame or opening. You could make it see through with acetate or just a different color - woodgrain perhaps. My friend also showed me a partial die cut opening thing from Jennifer McGuire which might work. I just remembered I can share the card I made with that technique now that my friend has given it to her parents so I will share on IG in a bit. Someone I like for floral compositions is Erum Tasneem www.youtube.com/c/ErumTasneem She uses altenew stuff but her compositions and details are lovely. Her style might not fit what you had in mind but maybe it will spark something. She is good at putting layers of stuff (doodles, splatter, die cut background pieces, etc) behind florals to make them look more special.

I think I counted five. Nice and chunky! Yes, 4 layers of petals, and 2 for the stamin, so it’s actually 6. Once I place it on a card, I’ll glue pieces of CS under random petals to “spring” them up a bit. I’m ok with all the layers cuz they’re nice and big and easy to handle. Just settling in to check out the video (and several others with this die). Thanks for the link! When I’m Google, I need to remember with stuff like this that I should check YouTube as well. There are so many “new release” videos out there. Even for older stuff like this die.

Let me know and I’ll pop it in the mail to you right away

I’m intrigued Posted and tagged you. And here's the video. The examples are not in any way related to the style you're going for but the fun fold can be done in different shapes and sizes with different dies and might give you a little more wow factor even if you keep your card design simple. Or it might just be something to try another time. I'm not even sure why it came to mind in answer to your question!

Those are gorgeous! I would Wink of Stella some of the petals to give another layer of dimension. Those would look so cute with a gnome hiding behind them!

I can neither confirm nor deny that my table may currently be suffering an invasion of paper cutouts and rapidly losing ground. It also may or may not be entirely my fault for not contemplating the consequences of adding another hundred-plus sets to my stash. (It's 100% my fault.)

These are fun flowers, MichyM. You have done a wonderful job of inking them. I am not nearly as skilled as these other ladies, but I like to curl a couple of petals under a bit--you could do that with tweezers like Laura uses in her video, but instead of simply lifting up, you can curl the tip under a bit. And I might put them against a muted floral or foliage background pp, like the patterns in some of Laura's envelopes.

If you would like I can send you some. I made this card long time ago so the picture is bad,it was more for me to remember the design instead of sharing. I diecut this design into the front of my card and added one more layer for stability. Than arranged the flowers. When you write your message make sure you stay behind the flowers .

I’m afraid to say yes to you sending anything, and then find out the colors, material, or something else doesn’t really do it for me, KWIM? Thanks for the BG suggestion and photo. I have several cover dies as well as a few embossing folders that might make nice BGs for the flowers

This is what I ended up for the first one. I need to tweak placement of leaves & the sentiment if I make another one like this, but this one is done. Gonna work on another one today. Hard to tell in the photo but I have foam dots under some of the leaves as well as some petals, so it is very 3D. I think it may require extra postage due to it's thickness. Thank you all for all the suggestions and examples, they were super helpful!

That's beautiful Michy! I bought a little envelope thickness template from Etsy that helps me know if I need to add extra postage to an envelope. I can't find my exact one, but it's similar to this. Envelope Guide

MichyM beautiful card with an unexpected color background! Tried to post yesterday before your card was shown but my post with links bit the dust—and suddenly I had to sign in. Anyway, my little system to get ideas if there’s no mojo is to 1) google the die or stamp set and select Images from the top of the screen, and some may have blogs/youtube video links. And 2) go to the company site and search on the name since they often show cards/videos. If Simon Says Stamp doesn’t pop up I often look there too. Amy R from Prairie Paper and Ink has two different takes on her blog and youtube, one with a bit of splatter since she’s a splatter princess. Mari (no e) Clarke has a video and she’s so pleasant to listen to with her calming voice (she taught high school for years). I found links to them and a couple others but since you’ve made your card won’t go hunting again but if you want to see them and can’t find them, just yell.
