So, that first one was a little fussy for me, so here is card #2. It's not noticeable in the photo, but I splattered some Mica Spray on it as well for just a touch of shimmer. I think for card #3 I may try either inking or watercoloring a BG. There was a card that showed up on my IG feed this morning where a card maker used a couple of azalea dies with a watercolored BG, and I wanna give it a go. I also have some embossed woodgrain paper that is fun to distress, so I'll try that as a BG as well. I think part of my problem with these coneflowers is that they have no stems (I know I can make my own), so they need some serious "grounding" to make them work

So nice - I love them without stems! You could cut out a skinny curved piece for a stem. Some cards using the set have that. Or draw stems. it could be fun to have just the blossom(s) with black or some single color stamping and stem(s) behind it, and colored in. You’ve seen cards/art like that right? Like a line drawing but just one focal point in color? A stamp would make that easier. Or it could allow coloring stamped flowers with just one or two die cut. They’re so dimensional and textured with so much going on, I think they look beautiful without much going on too. I almost bought the set—and am re-enabled—and imagined clear/white heat embossing on white CS, maybe a few splatters or not, and call it a day. Here’s a square one from Ardyth with just one blossom. Square cards have helped me go in other directions, though postage costs more. Not that I’ve made a card in ages. ardythpr.blogspot.com/2021/08/coneflower-thanks.html?fbclid=IwAR2t2AmaIphBCJoODs5kYVe0FrGDGIR9FIaYAoejo_IlS6VKqLT9E7XnYtsETA: like using this stamp set behind it. And even stamping rather than die cutting stems from it. www.franticstamper.com/Gina-K-Designs--Clear-Stamp--Colossal-Coneflower_p_175597.htmlETA2: Sorry for hyjacking your thread into brainstorming. I should just buy it.

Beautiful cards MichyM! I have the same dies and you’ve inspired me to do some creating with them this weekend.

Similar to this idea (the one on the left)? blog.honeybeestamps.com/summer-stems-and-coneflower-cards/Ardyth’s card is lovely, right? Her youtube videos are short and to the point—and fun. The pretty card on the left combines some of my imaginary cards. So a white background and white die cuts. OR one very light background color and splatter. Or white background stamped with black or fog or gray or pale non-neutral color with coneflowers and/or leaves. Or white or clear heat embossed background or scattered coneflowers or leaves on white. Or the palest of colors. So that’s six or eight cards—which all could be more clean & simple than many would like. 😆 If stamping or die cutting coneflowers for the background I’d match the style of the focal die cut. IOW, not a realistic coneflower, maybe a stamp like this, or smaller: gummiapan.com/products/2625/tjock-rudbeckiaI couldn’t find what was in my brain (thank goodness?), but finally found this lovely card. The right side of the card fits, with focus totally on the gorgeously blended butterfly. For jumping off inspiration, more could be added to the left, made with less white to the left, a different size, etc. stampinonthefly.com/2022/06/freshly-made-sketches-529-2/

I forgot. Coincidentally I’d ordered some tiny flower dies, including coneflowers, from a company in Sweden after watching Christine Stokes use some to zhuzh up vase dies on one of her youtube videos. These are the coneflowers I bought, but more pop up along with stamps by searching for coneflowers on their site. English works. gummiapan.com/products/14230/sma-rudbeckior (Googling the largest measurement and “to inches” gives the height. Ex: “44 mm to inches” is 1.7”. Similarly, “25 kr to usd” was $2.32.) www.gummiapan.com Their prices and shipping costs were low, and shipping speed fast to the east coast. Christine Stokes on youtube: The tiny die cuts used on vase die cuts: youtu.be/dkY0FkdeZLQAnd just for kicks, this one for a new way to use a background stamp: youtu.be/NvZ-cvMKZwc It reminded me of a neat technique learned years ago with a small rectangular stamp, but it can be done with a great big background stamp.
