My niece was just accepted into this school. My sister is kind of worried that it might be a scam or something. We can’t find out much about it. Power of the Peas- anyone who can recommend this place? Any experience with it?

It’s a real school as I used to get my hair done at one of their locations but they are facing multiple lawsuits over student loan fraud and I believe recently they were part of the group that students had all their loans forgiven because of massive fraud.

Iowa is not far from me, so I googled, just to see if there was any info out there and as the above poster mentioned, they don't seem to manage money well. I think I would be leary attending this school.
Does you niece plan on working in Iowa? Most states have their own licensing requirements and one needs to be certified by the state they work in.

A couple of the people who used to do my hair had graduated from there and my best friend's boyfriend graduated their barber program. But, that was several years ago (mid to late 2000s), so while I have known people that graduated from it I don't have any recent experience. I know exactly where the Davenport location is, it's a real place

Several kids from my area have gone to one. Ft. Dodge is closer to me, and that is the one they have gone to.
As far as the scammy/student loan stuff - I would be ware of that with ANY school. Especially tech/vocational schools. There are many fantastic ones out there, but the loan and money stuff sure seems to get kids stuck in financial difficulty.
FWIW - most of the hair dressers who are high end successful around here have gone to Aveda schools. They are the ones that are solid booked and can charge the higher prices, and have a strong client relationship.
