To your house? I'm doing some temp work and can't decide to have my check mailed or drive 16 miles to get it. Never had mail stolen, but...

Are you at home? Will someone get the mail soon after it is delivered (I am assuming it is put in a box by the street)? I would feel safe to have it mailed to the house, especially if there are not a lot of instances of Mail theft in your area.

I used to. Not any more. Too much missing mail since DeJoy took over. Sunday plus one day. Driving all over to deliver mail for others that hits my box. Neighbors bring ours over. Crazy stupid.

I don't think we have much mail theft from our actual mail boxes. But our delivery is awful. So no, I wouldn't have a check mailed to me.

My mailbox is in the wall of the house so my mail comes in the house rather than sitting outside so mail stealing is not an issue for me. However, we have pretty moronic mail carriers who cannot read addresses so mis-delivery of mail is an issue for me.
If direct deposit was not an option, then mailing the check would be my choice in this situation.

I wouldn’t think twice about having it mailed, unless I needed the cash immediately. If you don’t receive it in a few days a stop payment and replacement check can be issued.

That used to be a concern. Our mailbox is on a post out by the street, easily 100’ from our front door. Shortly after we moved to this house there was a rash of mail thefts from mailboxes in our general area and we opted to replace our regular mailbox with a locking box. I haven’t lost a minute of sleep over that issue since. I think the locking box cost a hundred bucks or so, it was some of the best money we ever spent.

My daughter used to have her mailed when she worked at The Gap and we never had an issue. Come to think of it, my older daughter had hers mailed too when she worked for Harper-Collins and never had an issue either.

yup... we have all of the mailboxes at the end of our road, and I've never worried about anything that was mailed. (despite what our busybody neighbor, Bill, says about 'you gotta watch out for other people stealing stuff' lol.)
I'd personally get direct deposit if it was available, just to make it easier, but...

I highly recommend it! Although we rarely receive much important mail anymore, it does give us a heads up to look for important pieces that should soon land in the mailbox. In our town we have community mailboxes located throughout neighborhoods, so knowing when it is important to check the mailbox or if it is okay to let it sit a couple of days comes in handy.

I’ve had many checks from clients mailed to me. I’ve never had one lost or stolen. I can’t predict their arrival because they often are net 30ish terms.

Thursday it’s here? Was supposed to be Monday!? It’s how I find out that stuff is actually missing and I don’t get. Also have a ring camera in which I have watched the carrier remove mail from my box and I never get it.

I suppose it really depends on your area. Our neighborhood has banks of locked mailboxes and in our 13 years here, there's never been an instance of one being broken into. So, yeah, I'd not hesitate to have it mailed.

I have a regular mailbox and sometimes have checks mailed to me. In the last seven years, one was lost once.
With that said, I will probably get a PO Box soon as I don't always want to give my address to clients.

All our "paychecks" get mailed to us. I've only had one go missing, and had it reissued. Ours are payments from the beef packer, so it can range from 100K to almost 400K, if we ship out a lot of loads at once. We used to get our checks a couple days after the cattle left the farm. Now it is at least a week. Yikes.
We do go pick up our grain checks from the elevator in person.

We don't have roadside mail deliver where I live so it would go to the post office and I would be OK with that. For me it would depend on whether you have a locked mailbox/have had any issues in the past with things going missing.
PS: I'm just mindblown to read all the replies about people still being paid by cheque. My first job was in a bank in 1981 so coming up for 41 years and our pay was direct deposited back then. No job since has had anything other than this. If I ever get a cheque (super rarely) it annoys me no end that I have to make a trip to the bank to deposit it.

Yes, but I live in a small town and my mail is delivered at the end of the block and you need a key to access it

Depends on where you live. There is a lot of mail theft and fraud where I live. I try to do everything online now.
