However, the information sent to Newsweek as the basis of Jordan's claim about FBI agent whistleblowers does not categorically show that 14 FBI agents have come forward, nor does it shed light on how many whistleblowers were actual agents, as opposed to staffers, and what proportion of the complaints were about political discourse within the FBI. Newsweek has contacted Jim Jordan's office for further comment. Yes I dragged this back. Today in the House a Republican yapping brought up Hunter Biden and the laptop yet again.
Hunter Biden is currently being investigated for tax evasion and I think something else. But for some Republicans that’s not good enough and they are focused on that laptop while ignoring the elephant in the room when it comes to that laptop and the information on it.
That elephant is “Chain of Custody”. I was going to bring over the definition of Chain of Custody but found this Letter to the Editor in a Chico Newspaper from April of this year.
“The conspiracy wing of the Republican Party is placing a lot of stock on the contents of the Hunter Biden Laptop (“If Thomas must recuse himself …”, Thiessen Commentary, E-R April 9th).
A Chain of Evidence (aka Chain of Custody) is a process and record that shows who obtained the evidence; where and when the evidence was obtained; who secured the evidence; and who had control or possession of the evidence.
Among the chain of custody holders of the Hunter Biden Laptop include: an unidentified individual who turned the laptop into a Delaware computer repair shop in 2019; the proprietor of that shop (John Paul Mac Isaac, a legally blind Republican Party loyalist); Rudy Giuliani (who lost his license to practice law in New York for “betraying his professional oath by peddling ‘false and misleading’ claims about the 2020 election”); Steve Bannon (who escaped a felony conviction for fraud only through Presidential pardon and is currently on trial for Contempt of Congress); and the New York Post (rated on the far end of ‘Right-Center Biased’ due to story selection that typically favors the Right and Mixed – i.e., borderline questionable – for factual reporting based on several failed fact checks).
In that proving that an item has been properly handled through an unbroken chain of custody is required for it to be legally considered as evidence in court, I’d say that any information obtained from the Hunter Biden Laptop is very possibly seriously tainted and would be thrown out.”

He is right in that there are too many questionable gaps in the travels of that laptop to meet the definition of “Chain of Custody”.
This lack of a “Chain of Custody” could be one of the reasons why not a lot has been said about the laptop by the FBI.
Look what happened when Comey released that letter about nothing 11 days before the 2016 election. A strong argument could be made that letter released so close to the election could have influenced the election in trump’s favor.
Hunter Biden is being investigated and no one is stopping the process.
But instead of the Republicans working on policies that help/benefit the American People they seem more interested in pushing distractions as a way to get people to vote for them.
