I want to get mine done but holy cannoli they’re expensive. I don’t want big, very obvious fake lashes. I just want eyelashes again. If you get them, how much do they cost in your area and how frequently do they need to be filled in?

I have been getting extensions for about a year and half. If I need a completely new set it costs me about $200. I usually get a fill every two to three weeks. That costs about $80. I don't do super crazy eyelashes. I get a volume set but I don't like them super long because I wear glasses. Without extensions, my eyelashes are short and stubby too.

Here in Tokyo, a full set costs about $50. I used to get them every six weeks for about two years. I never bothered with infills. Unfortunately it left my real lashes even more sparse and stubby than before. I suppose it’s a bit like getting gel nails removed and your real nails being really brittle. Now I only get them for vacations and special occasions.
When I lived in the USA in 2020, I got them done at someone’s home as recommended by a friend. Worst experience ever. She used clumps of thick lashes rather than singles, and I looked like Betty Boop. Fortunately it was right as lockdown started so I didn’t have to face the world.
If you get them done, go to a reputable salon, and make sure you can choose the length, thickness, and curl of the individual lashes:)

I get my fills every 2 weeks for $75. not super long as they hit my glasses when they are to long. I like the way they look..as my lashes are nonexistent without ..

I felt the eye lashes came with a lot of maintenance and I already colour my hair / get my nails done. I ended up buying eye envy and I developed beautifully long eyelashes. It was a great option.

I use a lash serum and get a lash lift every couple of months. They don’t look ridiculous, and the price is much more manageable.

I got them for a while about a year ago. I loved the way they looked - I did the “classic” style, not super thick and long and obviously fake, but like if I had really nice natural lashes (which I definitely do not). But the maintenance - both cost and time - made me quit. An hour and $100 every week and a half was just more of a commitment than I cared to keep up with. Plus I tended to have a lot of shedding because of the pillow I use (one of ones that cradles your head to keep you sleeping on your back - I apparently lean the side od my face against the “cradle” edges while I sleep.
I use Latisse now and the results aren’t as great but it’s a lot less of a time commitment.

I’m working on getting better with false eyelashes I put on at home. The cost and time commitment of getting them done elsewhere is too much for me.
