my husband got home from burning man sunday and his car was filthy too.. unloaded, and before he even showered, he took it to the car wash and got it washed and detailed. he hauled a trailer with drums.. part of camp "thump thump".. he came home a bit early cause we are leaving for vacation tomorrow.
I have no desire to attend... I go camping instead. he has been out washing gear today.. and will have to tackle the rest when we come home!!

Half the gear is still loaded and the trailer is still hooked up for now. The rest will get dealt with tomorrow and the car will get a bath (or two) How’d your DH fare in the dust storms?

the key to washing anything, including the car is vinegar!!! cut with water.
he said the dust storms were gnarly, but he goes well prepared as far as gear and clothing. he has a desert camping tent.. and uses a bike or mobility cart to get around. the cart is all decked out with lights and a flame that goes off as they wish.
we have to unload anything immediately when we get home.. so all in basement. I did see a few burning man cars around town today!! that dust is distinctive..

That is clean compared to what we have daily! Farm life - stuff just doesn't get washed that often. Gravel travel is the only way to get around. And when it rains, it's mud. I do have my 'town' truck that I keep pretty clean, but even it suffers during harvest. I try not to drive it often, and have my 'work' truck that I use most of the time. I can usually see out the front windows in my work truck. Back windows are solid covered in mud/dust.

That's still a thing? hahahaha! I went a hundred years ago and it was a complete hoot. I had no idea it was still an event.

80,000 people show up... my dh goes with a group.. 8-12 other people. they build a big shade structure, have the decorated cart, rent a storage unit in reno for year round storage, etc. this year, dh was the safety officer for the group and took a bin of first aid stuff. it was his 4th time.
san francisco is noticeably less crowded that week.

Can I ask WHAT is Burning Man? I have only heard of it in the last 2 years or so. I guess I could Google, eh? lol

I am intrigued but would never attend (bathroom issues . My dd lives in South Lake Tahoe and talks about the cars that come through, especially the art cars on their way to and from Burning Man. Then the dusty foot and handprints left at the grocery stores by burners stopping in town!

My friend and her family just got back. The pictures I've seen, both of the car and of them, are perhaps even worse! But it sounds like they had a ball, so good for them. (I hate being at all dirty unless I'm gardening or an afternoon in the woods or something. I don't think I could hack several days out there!)

Bored Panda have posted pictures from this year's event. Looks very interesting but mega dusty! Great photos - thanks for linking! I would LOVE to see the artwork/installations in real life, but can't wrap my head around the exit. I'm glad your DHs survived and enjoyed candleangie and ntsf .
