I do not understand the love of pasta that some people have. I'm trying to...but I don't get it. Pasta to me has 0 flavor. It's the stuff on it or in the case of lasagna all of other ingredients that make it good.
My husband loves pasta. He gets disgusted when I ask. To me it doesn't fill me up and it tastes like cardboard. We had spaghetti tonight. He made a sauce with sausage in it. That was good, but kinda watery. I know, I know....pasta just isn't my thing.
Anyhow, explain your "love" or even your "dislike" of pasta! Is it the pasta or the other ingredients that make it what it is for you.
Please share your thoughts!!

Every once in a while I like it, but I feel generally like you do (I also don't really like rice for the same reason). I will take the pasta sauce and dump it on fish or chicken instead.

I hate pasta. All types, the texture and the taste.

I love it so much. All kinds. It’s a vehicle for delicious sauces and flavor combinations. It’s comforting. It’s easy to cook and you can do a million things with it. Oh, and it goes great with wine.

Pasta to me is like the bun on the burger.. I am not a bun person but together with a bun and a burger makes it good. So while the sauce is great (in some cases) the pasta is there just to 'keep' it together? Something like that. There is an Italian place I LOVE LOVE.. their Chicken Parm.. I could eat the whole thing and not touch the pasta.. just the chicken, cheese and sauce. So so good. The pasta, it's there. Blah'ish.

I like pasta. I prefer Asian noodles (ramen, somen, soba), but I wouldn't pass up a plate of pasta of any kind. I really like pasta salads. Maybe because it doesn't have much taste by itself, the pasta really picks up the flavor of whatever you put on it. But,I also like the taste of rice, just rice with nothing added to it (i.e. butter, salt, etc). Yes, I can taste rice. My family doesn't understand how I can taste plain rice.

I like pasta. When we cook too much spaghetti and have it left over in the fridge I'll sprinkle a little water on it and heat it up in the microwave. Add a little butter and some Brady Street from Penzeys. Yummy!
Now I want some pasta!!

My husband feels like you do, and while I like pasta, I rarely want a big plate of carbs for dinner at home. I’d rather splurge on homemade pasta with some delicious sauce at the Italian place.
The only pasta I really don’t like is rotini. No idea why. The shape-texture bothers me, I guess.

pasta is like bread or tortillas for me -- a vehicle for other stuff! so while it's generally frowned upon to eat alfredo like a soup... on noodles it's a-okay

I think that is it, pasta sucks up the flavor of what ever else you are eating and gives it body. No way am I eating a bowl of meatballs and sauce, or a bowl of Alfredo sauce, or cheese sauce or even just pesto chicken but throw some good pasta in and it is delicious. I do prefer spaghetti squash to pasta though in regular spaghetti and meatballs. For those of you saying it tastes like cardboard, certainly there is terrible pasta, but good homemade noodles or even quality store bought pasta should never be flavorless..

I like it, but seldom eat it. I do love a pesto sauce.

Pasta is the easiest, most versatile, most bang for my buck food I can keep in the house.
Need to feed a bunch of boys who are bottomless pits? Pasta keeps them full the longest Need to feed a crowd? Pasta Need a less than 10 mins to the table meal after a long day? Pasta Need a lot of energy before a busy day? Pasta Need something you can put in a lunchbox and eat cold? Pasta Need something cheap because it’s the week before payday? Pasta Need to pull together something with all the half used leftovers in your fridge? Throw them over pasta Need to feed a mix of omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans? Pasta Want to unwind with some wine and try an elaborate new sauce recipe? Pasta

I could eat it just salted. It's the texture and the mouth feel when it's cooked al dente - I love it.

I am also not into pasta. Sometimes I’ll hear about people eating buttered noddles- like that’s it- butter on noodles and I can’t even get why one would want that! Lol
I eat pasta- dh loves spaghetti, lasagne, etc. but I’ll just have some and eat a bunch of salad and bread. I would never chose it myself though.

Love plain pasta and white rice. Only better when you add other foods and sauces to them. Yum!

I have never been a fan of pasta, rice, or bread. I did love my mother's lasagna when I was a child, but that is so filled with other things that the actual pasta portion is a minimal part of the dish. Same with her spaghetti. The sauce was so flavorful and Dad always made cheese garlic toast to go with it. Now that is a bread item that I actually liked.

I've never really been of pasta as a whole. Occasionally I like some macaroni salad but other than that I could pass on pasta everyday.

We are a pasta family. Italian and Greek. I even love the smell of it boiling. Such a versatile item for cooking.

I'm not a fan of pasta either. Bland, and lots of empty calories with too many carbs. I do like many of the things that are made with pastas, like others have said, what is put on the pasta makes the pasta. Its a rather cheap item to produce, so I have a real difficult time understand how Olive Garden can charge $19.99 for a plate of fettuccini. Its just noodles and white sauce with a little cheese for goodness sakes! $4.50 extra if you want chicken with it.

I.love.pasta. I also love the sauces and other accompaniments that go along with it ... especially seafood! I could eat a different pasta dish everyday!

Thank you for validating my dislike of pasta.
I like the term "vehicle" in terms of pasta. I think that's a good way to put it. I should of created a poll! My husband wants me to tally the results. I told him I'd check back later.

I’m like you. It is more about the sauce. I usually have just a small amount of pasta and then put the sauce on that and a bunch of veggies. Pasta on its own is not that great.

Hahaha! I’m not even sure what to say. We eat alot of pasta in my house. My kids will eat pasta with butter and grated cheese, or even boil pasta in chicken broth and call it soup.

I love love love pasta in all forms. I love it with just butter, Parmesan and black pepper, with maybe a bit of arugula. I love a simple roasted tomato pesto pasta I can do in 15 minutes and a 4 hour bolognese. Italy is my favourite country and part of that is the food.
I will say that growing up I did not like pasta and found it very bland. I now realize it was my mother’s version of pasta - just noodles over cooked with too much bland sauce. But once I ate at a quality Italian restaurant, I was hooked.

Add a little butter and some Brady Street from Penzeys. Yummy! Now I want some pasta!! I will do the same thing, although my preferred seasoning is a mix of season salt, parsley, and some pepper. Oh, and a LOT of butter!! I don’t like all pasta shapes; rotini is my absolute favorite (plus it holds the sauce), orzo and other small shapes are gross… but the texture of a well-cooked pasta, and the carbs? Yummm!!! I don’t like plain rice, though— rice is, however necessary for a good Chinese dish, IMO.

A lot of it is the texture for me. (I'm a pasta lover.) But if it is overcooked, I'd just as soon not eat it.
And plain rice definitely has a taste! I also like rice. Not a huge bread fan unless it's nice fresh warm bread and butter - other bread is mostly eh to me.

You pasta haters are nuts! 😂 I like all things pasta.
My go to meal for one is steamed veggies with bow tie pasta sprinkled with pepper jack cheese.

I'm meh about it. Rest of the house likes it, but doesn't ask for it regularly. Ds always asks for Mama Pasta for his birthday dinner.
I do like rice, and can taste it. We eat a lot of rice bowls.
