I have a teen dd who loves clothes, but is getting so frustrated by the dresses. Short is in, but the girl is 5' 8" or 5' 9" currently. Everything on her covers her butt, but barely much else.
There is usually not a store in the mall she doesn't hit trying to find something, but it seems they are all short. Anyone else with a tall teen that has found a store or two that they have good luck in?

My newly-14 year old daughter is 5'9''. It can be a challenge! We have had luck with Macy's, Lord and Taylor, Express and the Gap.

My almost-13-year-old is 5'10". It's hit or miss for dresses -- trying to find something that is long enough for her that doesn't make her look like she's 30. We've had some success at our Stein Mart. I just bought her a dress for her band concert there.

I'll be following this to see. So far we've had good luck with the maxi skirts so maybe that's an option? We recently ordered Hollister jeans in long but they soon became too short so I don't know where to go from here - thankfully she wears them tucked into boots most of the time but sigh, I feel your pain!!

I feel your pain: my 5'13" (OK, she's really 6'1") DD wears a 27" waist and a 37" inseam and trying to find tall and skinny sizes can be a challenge. Online we like Long Tall Sally (they do pop-up shops across the country and they're at Mall of America). We've been able to find off-the-rack stuff at Nordstrom's Rack and Ann Taylor. Dresses are pretty good at Express. Jeans (like Miss Me and Silver) are available at Buckle in long inseams (Buckle's t-shirts are cut pretty long, too). American Eagle has been stocking more long sizes than they used to: it's worth a try. Hope that helps!

Try Gap, Old Navy or Banana Republic online. Maybe even Nordstrom online.

Mine has good luck with jeans in long sizes at American Eagle. Dresses are more of a challenge - as someone mentioned above, the dresses that cover a little more tend to be styled for a grownup woman, not a teenager. She has one dress right now that came from Penneys that hits her mid-thigh, and other than that she tends to pick ones that can be worn as tunics and pair them with leggings.

And as it is common to get the "do you play basketball?" etc questions, she decided to answer that with, "No, do you play miniature golf?" Guess all the ?'s were getting old. Back to the op, it seems to be hit or miss. Short dresses in style are hard to fit without being next to obscene. Shorts are the same. Good luck. She had some luck at local Maurices where they seemed to have more longs. maurices <<<<you could check online

American Eagle has Extra Long in some jeans. I buy those for us. (me & my teen) Old Navy has talls in a lot of stuff. LL Bean has Talls as well.

My DD is 5' 8 1/2". She buys most of her dresses at the Ann Taylor outlet store. If you watch the sales, they go half off often enough. This time of year the dresses are more dressy, but by Easter and the summer they will have knit and more casual dresses.
