I’m doing the valentines one. As I said up thread I really liked the holiday one. Plus I have a star hot foil plate from spellbinders and lots of flower with coordinating stencils from pinkfresh so I figured I would use those instead of the new HA projects. I also have the HA nesting hearts and I bought the cover plate. I still wish they’d let you take precious stamp alongside. But they said not enough people signed up to let you into the prior ones.

Have any others signed up for the Valentines stamp along? If your using stamps and dies from your stash, what are you using for the flowers?
I don’t make a lot of love or heart themed cards so I spent some time digging thru my stash to find Valentines themed stamps and dies. I have a few things but I placed 2 orders for more. 😁 I think I may substitute love for hugs on some of my cards. I don’t have the columbine flower stamp & stencil so I think I’m going to use the flower spray from bee themed January 2021 MMH kit.
I watched Libby’s live on Saturday, it looks like there’s going to be quite a bit of foiling. I don’t foil so I’ve been trying to get the right sandwich to heat emboss with my cover dies. It actually worked!
I’m pretty excited for the classes since this is out of my normal stamping genre.

I forgot to sign up while it was $20, so now I'm not sure if I want to join or not. Do you know pinklady how many cards will each teachers create? That might changes my mind about sign up .

From what I can tell by the sneak peeks and homework pics, there looks to be at least 8 cards. One class is a watercoloring.

I think I will pass on this and just wait and see if you enjoyed it and hopefully you will show as your cards. I would use a hug die too. I don't make or send a lot of love cards either. And I think that MMH kit would be great. Unfortunately I missed out on that kit. Have fun!

They are doing the next one April 16th. They are going to have the bundle available with the new spring release the end of October.
Some of the techniques were some really interesting ways to use layering stencils and cutting them up in unique ways to become letters in words, using them to cut a heart out and then lining it up with a previous panel, some cool dry embossing techniques, some good hot foiling with dies tips, stuff like that

I took the stamp along classes and really enjoyed them. I liked that it was a one day event and on the west coast was done by 2:30pm.
I only had the cover plate and infinity heart dies in my stash so I had to substitute a lot of supplies. I really liked the 3 classes using the heart themed products. Valentine and love are not card themes I usually make so it was sort of “new to me”.
I really like Erica, I first found her Instagram when she did a card swap to donate to a charity for Yana when the Ukraine war started.
I loved Debi’s card and using the cover plate die as both a die and embossing plate on the same card.
Of course, I loved Jennifer’s bonus video. I can’t wait to try the technique where she embossed with the cover plate then cut the cover plate to use as a stencil.
I didn’t finish cards for the 2 classes using the Columbine stencil. I’m hoping to work on the cards for Laurie’s class later today. I wasn’t a fan of Channin’s card so I’ll probably skip it.
I’m interested in seeing the lineup for the spring event but it’s really going to depend on the cost for me since it’s a 2 day event.
I’ll try to get pictures of my cards posted this week.

Is there a # for this event? Not really, which is strange. You can try #herovalentinesstampalong and some of the cards are there. In Libby’s stories she has some cards. instagram.com/stampinlibby?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=You can go down the rabbit hole of links to other pages to see more cards.

Thank you pinklady. I love your cards and the hugs sentiment works so great! Like how they used the cover die in different ways.

$50 is pretty steep for just classes and no products. I think I’ll pass. There are a few things I do want from the spring catalog.

I think it's $45 until mid-March.
That seems pretty standard to me for pricing.
Does anyone know if they give discount codes when you register?

They do not give discount codes but the bundle is already discounted if you buy it for the stamp along. Plus you can use your crop and create code for an extra 10% ofc starting 3/1

I registered and bought the sentiment stamp and die set. The bee window die and layering stencils look so similar to the butterfly versions that I’ll sub those in.

Thanks for the heads up.
I just wish I had a better idea of how they were using some of the items to help me decide which ones I care to purchase and which I'd prefer to sub in what I already have!

Did anyone else attend this weekend? No, I ended up not signing up although I seriously considered it. It just didn't work for me this weekend. How was it? How were the projects?

I didn't attend but I saw some of the cards on instagram. It looks like Nichol Sphor (sp?) did a class with inking on colored cardstock. I loved how the cards turned out using the bee/flower wreath die & stencils. If anyone took the class and would like to share the tips, that would be awesome. I have the stencil & die but I have not used it yet. It's one of the things that's on my to use list. Now if I would just stop buying and start using.

Well, this was my first, so it's hard for me to say how they compared to other events. I had a hard time in some cases finding replacements in my stash for products I didn't care to buy, so many of them were watch and learn only for me. There were four I did some crafting along with but didn't finish. At least one of the Heroscape cards I'm not sure could be done with anything but another Heroscape, for example, and I didn't see any of them I was particular interested in at the cost. The technique of setting a MISTI up for assembly line processing was clever, but it would a completely different process on my Stamparatus, so.... The variety of techniques taught/demonstrated was very good. I think each class offered something a little different, which was very nice.
I had very, very mixed feelings about the amount of fan-girling (and fan-guying, I guess, since Daniel West was there) between the instructors. On the one hand, it really brought home that Hero Arts, while bigger than Taylored Expressions or Honey Bee, is still a family-owned and family-oriented company. These people all seem to feel like family and like they've very nurtured as artists by HA. On the other hand, it got a little nauseating at times.
I've been thinking quite a bit about how it compares to the SU event I also did this weekend and paid the same amount for, also without products. They were very, very different and I'm not sure if one was more valuable than the other.

I'd love to hear about it. I don't really like the fan-girling, either. There was a bit of it during Crop and Create, too. On the one hand, I realize the instructors are all friendly if not outright close friends, which is great, good for them. On the other hand, if I hear one more instructor ooh and ah over the fact that Jennifer McGuire popped into the class, I'll....well, I'll roll my eyes harder I guess, lol. And I like Jennifer McGuire (I don't have strong feelings either way about any instructor/crafting "celebrity), but it's too much. We get it, you guys are a clique, good for you.

I have two SU demonstrators, a local and a long-distance. The local does local events at her home, not all paper craft. She's bringing in a local artist for a rock mandala painting class later this month, for instance. But not this event.
My long-distance and three other demonstrators started doing virtual retreats the first covid spring and have continued them quarterly. I think this was my third. Each demonstrator does two projects/classes. They don't put the tutorials up until a few days before, because they don't want you to buy the exact products used; they'd rather you watch and then check your stash to find products to make it your own (and on your own, with the tutorial pdf and/or replaying the video). To assist with that, they demonstrate the basic project and then show two other finished variations using not just different colors, but completely different stamps and dies to give you more ideas.
Being SU, they tend to be more different folds/different sketches than different techniques, but there are definitely techniques. The first one I attended, they essentially demonstrated making an alcohol ink background using vellum, Stampin' Blends, rubbing alcohol in a sprayer, and a heat tool. Around the holidays, so I guess last fall, there were a lot of boxes and gift bags and tags and gift card holders.
So, all in all, I thought the SU one did a better job of giving you ideas or jumping off points for designing your own projects with what you own already, but the HA probably exposed me to more new techniques or advanced methods. Hero Arts felt a little more "sales pitchy", which is downright shocking to me given that SU is a MLM.
