So ACOT sent an email overnight announcing new distress holiday sets for sprays and crayons. Are any of these colours in Tim Holtz's distress line of inks? Has Tim mentioned an upcoming release? I am confused. I thought he was the driving force behind the distress line, but I don't see his name on these products.

Love the colours of that second set - but I don't need sprays, I've only ever used the two I have on challenges

Those aren't his colors. I am sure they are banking on people not noticing that.

They’re Ranger/Tim Holtz limited seasonal products—like the ones for Halloween—so are different colors than regular Distress. I think they shipped to the stores this past week. Once they’re gone they won’t manufacture more. A youtube video about the line will be out on 10/8. Just fyi, this was the Halloween line: timholtz.com/2022-distress-halloween/

Too many memories of Tattered Angel sprays whose nozzles clogged after about 5 minutes. That's why I was wondering about the inks.

Maybe that will answer me about the possibility of inks.

As mentioned, these are a special blend. They won't be available in any other form (only in spray) or again. I have the Halloween and Christmas sets from last year and the Halloween set from this year (I had FOMO!). I'm goin to hold back on these. I just don't use sprays enough.

I have a complete set of Vicki Boutin art crayons, but none of Tim's. Assuming they kinda work the same way. Wondering did you get these pearl ones? Having crayons with mica might be fun to play with.

Vicki’s look wonderful but I’ve only seen them used in her FB videos. Tim’s are more like Gelatos, if you’ve used those. It’s been a long time since I used either one, but I liked Gelatos more, even though I love most of the Distress line. Using his crayons with other Distress products would be nice for color combining and especially accents. (Wanting all the things!) Just my off the cuff take; YMMV.

After they dry you can definitely see a shimmer vs regular distress stains.

Using his crayons with other Distress products would be nice for color combining and especially accents. (Wanting all the things!) A question about the tips. Are they shaped to lend themselves to accents? I use the VB crayons like I use gelatos--that is colour onto acetate, then pick up with a water brush. But the crayons themselves have a rounded tip not good for small spaces, and they look, when coloured directly onto cs, rough and grainy, like kids' crayons do.

Off topic kinda, but does anyone know when Tims Christmas line will be released? Im talking about his paper/emphemera stuff. His live video to introduce the ideology line is on October 15. He's changed his method for doing releases, so now the releases hit the store before he does the video launch - so you should see them online in the next few weeks. Here's his video schedule for Christmas stuff: October 1 - Sizzix October 8 - Distress October 15 - Idea-ology October 22 - Stampers Anonymous They're always at Noon EST.

As others have said, these are a special seasonal release from Tim Holtz and Ranger. (If you look closely at the label, his signature is sideways just before the word "Distress").
Anyway, I love the colors, especially the first set - one or both of these may have to go into my cart. I do love using sprays here and there and these colors are just beautiful for the holidays.

I have the ones from last year, both Halloween and Christmas sets. They are beautiful but for some reason its very messy so I haven't used them much.
Will skip these for now.
BTW is there a new distress color coming out soon? I haven’t hear anything about it.

There should be a YouTube live in the next few weeks with makes from the new stuff. ETA: should’ve read all replies. Date for the live is above.

grammadee and 950nancy Seasonal Mica Stains and Crayons from Tim Holtz and Ranger. I don't think you have IG, but check Tim's youtube channel as he has videos on the seasonal Mica Stains and Crayons which have a shimmer. Shows how to use them and they are really pretty. They started last year with sets #1 and #2 and now we are on sets #3 and #4. So there is a pallet of 24 Mica Stains that can be used all year long. He said in the video that he did a combination of Distress Colors to achieve these colors! They really compliment the oxides and inks!

mom you can see all of the different releases on Tim's Index system on his blog. Dies, Inks, Ephemera are already posted. Here is a link for ephemera. The month of October he does a weekly live that shows the products and the makes. However, stores like Joann's already have some of the product. Remember retailers put that stuff out early! timholtz.com/products/idea-ology/seasonal-christmas.html

But the crayons themselves have a rounded tip not good for small spaces, and they look, when coloured directly onto cs, rough and grainy, like kids' crayons do. There’s your post; I knew I didn’t hallucinate it, but forgot which thread it was in! The tips aren’t pointed. So when saying accents I was picturing a couple of cards I’d seen on line but of course couldn’t find, where ground espresso or black soot was used minimally to add a bit of dark contrast - just the edge of the crayon skimming along some areas to make other colors pop and/or connect to a black layer. I used to color stamps with Gelatos, lightly spritz with water and stamp to get a sketchy watercolor look. I have the original card we did that way in an LSS techniques class long ago. I’ll try to find and post it in my split coast gallery if you want to see the look. I think the new Tim Holtz watercolor pencils would much more do what you’d want since they can be sharpened and color like any colored pencils, then smoothed out with a tiny watercolor brush. And the shavings from the sharpened pencils can be kept for watercoloring too. Jenn Shurkus—creative chick—has some great examples and instructions, as do a bunch of others.

i totally remember the clogged Tattered Angel sprays and that's why i got rid of them. i bought the TH halloween mica sprays recently just to see if i would like the mica. NOPE i do not. i hate that glittery sheen. i much prefer the non-mica stuff.
