Is there going to be an unlimited card swap again this year? I love participating each year but didn't see any posts this year. Just wanted to be sure I didn't miss sign ups...

typically the card swaps have been hosted on the NSBR board with signups in October, I think - I have no idea about this year's plans though

If the person who runs that one decided to do it again, sign ups go up in early Oct with finalized list going out end of Oct, Early Nov. We are now on Quarter 4 cards for Halloween and Fall.

Correct, I'll host one this year. There's usually another one hosted by lisacharlotte. The sign up for mine will open in the middle of October and be open for approximately 4 weeks. Hope you are able to join us!

tc Yes, I organized one last year as we had two camps of peas on issues with using real name vs peaname and wanted to limit the number of participants. I was always in the unlimited participant group, but two swaps end up cutting into the numbers anyway. So, if we can clarify how you are structuring, we can figure out if we actually need two? I’m willing to take on overflow if there is a cutoff participant number and we have more interest than that number.

I’m willing to take on overflow if there is a cutoff participant number and we have more interest than that number. As you probably know, I took over MichyM's swap, which was supposed to be the limited number exchange and no requirement on using real name. As you also know, I did a "test" exchange for Valentine's Day and we just kept rolling each quarter. I participate in both swaps during the holidays because I really enjoy exchanging cards. But I can see the need for some peas to want a limited number swap rather than an unlimited number, therefore I volunteered to take over the limited exchange when MichyM asked for volunteers to organize it last year. I agree though, I think both exchanges end up being about the same number of participants. I was thinking of limiting my swap to 50 participants. I think we'll get better participation for the holiday exchange than we do for the quarterly exchanges (which have been running right around 30). And 50 seems like a reasonable number to limit it to. I think there's still a need/want/desire for your unlimited exchange. And I'll definitely be signing up for yours if you host it. :-) Thoughts, contradictions, agreement?

I think there are a number of people who appreciate the limited Holiday Card exchange (50 participants) and I personally would hate to see it somehow become unlimited. Other than a couple of peas who have issues that stretch far beyond the card exchange, it worked out well the two years I hosted. My two cents.

Yes, the first year you ran it, I participated and it was easy to get the 50 out. Last year I decided to participate in both and got all cards out. I had the time and energy to do so. This year though, I will need the limited card exchange for various reasons. I know the other always has the stipulation: mail to who you can. But I always felt bad not sending to everyone.

I just posted a question about this on the NSBR board. I'm glad to see that the limited number exchange is still happening and look forward to participating. I did Valentine, Spring and summer ones and enjoyed them.

tc, would it be possible to allow those who participated in the 50 participant exchange last year first crack at signing up this year?

If I remember correctly there were about 78 participants in the unlimited with about 6 or 7 of those who signed up also in the limited (50 max, I think 48 signed up) card exchange.
I remember I made over 120 cards last year. And yes I goofed sending 2 to a few peas lol

I've got too much going on right now. Hoping to design my own holiday card for family and friends, including peas I have addresses for, though. I think I might even know what the card is going to look like! if I can stop second-guessing myself.

This might be a dumb question but do we write in the cards or leave them blank so people can give them away?

Last year, I got one card from someone (I can't remember who) who signed her name on a post-it inside and said to send the card on to someone else. I thought that was nice.
