Yes, they are called chicago screws! Just check out the screw/nail section with all the little bins.

It's been a few years since I purchased them, but I thought they were all the same diameter, I just chose what length I wanted. If you aren't sure, you can take one of the posts from your albums now, since you'll be taking them apart anyway after you buy the new ones.

They are also called binding posts. I buy them at my Ace hardware in the tool bins. That way you can just buy what you need, not what comes in a prepackaged set. Ace has then in lengths of 1/2 inch to 3 inches, if not longer.
I hated the extension posts for albums, they never seems to screw together securely. And one brand would not match another!

Or toggle bolts - at the hardware store. They are perfect and work so much better than those shaky extensions.

Thanks for all the info & choices. I had no idea you could do that! I'm using mostly D-ring albums now but still have post-bound albums that are in progress. I'm sure I'll need a few for my Disney albums.

I'll have to check our hardware stores for these too! I have always hated those stupid little extenders, but never used them. I've always bought long posts at the LSS, but they're super hard to find now. My supply is running low.
