What is my emotional attachment to certain patterned paper? If I love it, I really have a hard time cutting it up. And my October Afternoon paper that I have left? I would rather frame it than use that stuff. It is so pretty it makes me happy just looking at it! (How long is too long to mourn a company shutting down?)
What brand do you have the most trouble cutting up?
My friends know how much I love them by which brand of paper I use on their cards. LOL. I used some OA recently on a card for a fellow scrapbooker and she took more value in me using my OA paper stash than in the card itself, I think. HAHA! (She is worth it!)

I have the same for October Afternoon and for Scenic Route paper. I think it's that I know I'll never get any new papers from those companies again and that once I use it, it will be gone. It's ridiculous, I know, but it's so hard to even use scraps of these papers!

I just had a conversation about this with my husband. I was showing him what Christmas collections I had to choose from to document Christmas this year, and he immediately went for October Afternoon's Holiday Style. I explained to him that I refuse to use that collection until I have a proper Christmas with snow. Florida Christmas photos just won't work for me with that lovely line!

I’m exactly the same as you, and I also miss October Afternoon. I struggle to use it and many other favorite papers.
However……I have figured out that I can scan and print a letter sized piece that is almost as nice as the original, so I will never really run out, LOL. It’s nigh to impossible to get it exact. Printers are deliberately made to prevent counterfeiters from just printing money, and those same precautions will make it impossible to duplicate paper exactly, but it comes close enough for my card making when I use irreplaceable papers.

(((Hugs))) I think the more you use those special papers, the easier it'll be. And if you're scrapbooking - they aren't gone -they're just on display in your albums...
How many times do we read about people who saved their pretty things - scrapbook related or otherwise - for a special occasion - and either never end up using them at all or not liking them so much in the future? Use the good paper - enjoy seeing it everytime you flip through your album. Or frame it and hang it on the wall and enjoy it as art. Don't let it get dusty in the back of the stash.

I get it. There are some Steven Duncan scenery papers I refuse to cut in (and yes, I have them on rotation through the year in a large IKEA Ribba frame ). It's just a few though. I also would encourage you to use your hoarded pretties anyway for the exact reasons Linda listed. It's just not worth saving for the perfect occasion. It may never present itself. Or give yourself a deadline with a list of ideas to make the scrapbooking with a precise paper/collection happen. sarahsprettypapers It may be time to book yourself a December weekend in NYC so you can use that beloved line. Whatever the case, you only live once, yadda yadda. Enjoy it all, including the precious stash. I have totally booked weekend getaways or done some things "for the scrapbook collection" and you know what? No regrets. It only added to my life!

Sorry to add some gloom to the thread. What if something happens to you and your family might not know how special that paper was to you and just donate it to the thrift store? Or to some kids who are just going to cut it up without a thought? Or bag it with a bunch of Bo Bunny and sell it for $1 at a garage sale?

If something happens to me you all would know, as I have instructed my DD to come here, make an account and RAK it all. Sorry, edited to add that yes, all that lovely paper is better off in albums. Also, if you are not able to do that with it, maybe do something just for you, like a journal or something.

We have a local second hand craft store in town and any time I come upon any OA or Scenic Route paper or embellishments I always think of the peas. I have a ton of SR from when they were closing and I got a few warehouse boxes. I have a little OA from my LSS. I don't have a specific brand, but I do have lots of lines that just get pet and put back on the shelf.

I have **SO MUCH** patterned paper left over from when I used to do paper scrapping. I have a TON of Basic Grey, Kaiser Craft, Crate Paper, KI Memories, Cosmo Cricket, My Minds Eye, and goodness knows what else. One day when I get around to catching up with Chinagirl828 , she will be getting a big box of 10+ year old paper hahaha! I say to you, use that paper TODAY. I held onto a lot of my favourite designs, waiting for just the right photos to scrap with it, and now it's sitting collecting dust. ETA: Not to mention all my Bazzill. So much Bazzill.

I totally get hoarding the special paper, I have some that I just always flip past because I love it so much and can't seem to find the project that is special enough to use it on. I've also got some paper scraps I'm hoarding for the same reason. Not being able to buy that paper again is probably the main reason I hoard it, but I definitely have some that are just too pretty to cut into. There are some Steven Duncan scenery papers I refuse to cut in (and yes, I have them on rotation through the year in a large IKEA Ribba frame ) I've done this too. I've got one of his Christmas papers framed that I pull out during the season, as well as an old MME Christmas paper. No shame in using the too pretty things just for decoration. We really must catch up so I can help you declutter

You all are so funny. And so "me". October Afternoon is my most treasured and hoarded paper, also some of my Jillibean Soup. But that may be my resolution for next year: start using it up before I get senile and forget what it's all about.

My October Afternoon paper stash is probably my most hoarded! I will use it on what I consider " special projects". I know that sounds so silly lol. I love my Mini Markets

My OA and Basic Grey have their own drawers... they don't blend well with my other papers so no point in sticking them in the rest of my stash... but I do use them. OA has been really great for my layouts about my reading life, and any Christmas layout I use the OA for comes together really easily...
I recently used Basic Grey (Persimmon, I think) for a layout about jury duty...
It will be a while before my stash is depleted, but maybe someone will finally come along and make papers that aren't all pink and flowery and themed by the time I run out... crossing fingers.

Oh yes! I knew what this was going to be about when I saw “emotional attachment” in the title. Pink Paislee Daily Junque, I adore that release. It’s probably a little (lot) dated now, but I love it so much. I’ve used it in layouts but I kept a precious set of paper for myself, just to look at. It brings me so much joy!
I love that idea of telling my daughter to make an account here in the event of my dying for RAKs! Who else would appreciate my hoard?? Lol I don’t know anyone in real life who scrapbooks like I do.

Ha! I too have coveted OA... scrapnnana I'm so glad I'm not the only one who does that. I figured it'd be taboo to mention it... if I'd gotten the PPS Haunted kit this year I would be doing that with the cute rainbow halloween papers, they're so pretty!

OA for sure, but I will say my most very favorite layouts are the ones that I've used oA on and it is by far the easiest paper for me to use, so I'm trying to not be so parsimonious with it.
I will miss them until my last scrapbooking day

None. Use it. You’ll love looking at those particular layouts or as someone suggested….make a special journal just for you. I used to hoard a bit but then I got over it. We buy it because we love it so why not use it to enjoy. Back in the day, when 12x12 was scarce, I used to scan and print the odd sheet of 8.5x11 so I could splice the paper to make a 12x12 sheet. Worked out pretty good.

Oh how I love and miss OA. I also reserve it for my most precious and special projects. In fact I think I’m going to cut into some Public Library here in a bit.
Sometimes I wonder if the owners realize what a fortune they could probably make if they were to revive the line.

Peachy Cheap sells OA from time to time (that they have produced), and the quality of the paper is better than when they first started doing it (or so I have heard).
They recently had an OA Christmas collection, Let it Snow I think, on offer.
