What is a thoughtful baby gift (boy) for a new mom who has all the basics taken care of? My go-to gift is a basket full of books and I may go with that. But, just wanted to check if anyone has a new idea. Several years out if this season and want to see if there is anything new and better.
ETA: budget is around $100.

The most thoughtful and most appreciated gift I received was a large sum on a food delivery gift card. Meals are nice, visits are nice, but being able to order 5ish meals directly to my door without worrying about the cost was fantastic.
Books are great. We really like Eric Carle and Ezra Jack Keats books around here.

My first choice would be meals. But books would be second.

I have been adding a “Things my Kid Said” journal to whatever else I give for new babies. We think we will always remember those incredible words, but we don’t. We’re too tired.

I would go with several food gift cards... i know its not sweet n cute n personal... but it is really and truly what a family with a newborn wants... some food that no one has to cook or do to much cleaning up after...

Books. We could never have enough.
I got so many clothes in larger sizes that my kids never wore because it was the wrong season for the size that they were in.

I like to give a set of silverware - baby spoon, toddler spoon and fork. Oneida and Lenox make nice ones.

Diapers in larger sizes. My 8mo old dgd is already in size 4. She received lots of diapers as her preferred gift.

I would go with books, but maybe books for toddlers/preschoolers, not just the popular board books that they may already have received as a gift or purchased. OR meals, I would have LOVED meals or a Gift Card for food when my dd was born. I swear we ate nothing but spaghetti and/or pizza delivery for the first few months. Or maybe the first year... We had so much pizza delivery that we had the delivery guy come to our door once on a night when we had NOT ordered pizza to make sure we knew about a special program they were starting. Since we were such good customers he wanted to make sure we knew about it right away. I was so embarrassed by that, but also grateful as the program really was a good deal!

At my baby shower last month, someone purchased my diaper bag and then filled it with everything you could think of needing in a diaper bag.
Same with the tub.
10/10 recommend for practicality.

Books are my go to as well, some new favorites are Pete the Cat (I love the groovy buttons) and the wish which is an ugly cry book about 2 animal parents making a wish for a baby. Poignant for some families, but should come with a trigger warning.
if books have been covered I always wanted one of those monthly photo backdrop things. blocks that give age in months or stickers. They weren't a thing when I had DD and by the time we got to DS we were flat broke. I barely had money for food let alone the cute stuff that wasn't "needed".
I was also given a travel emergency kit for the diaper bag, used that thing all the time. I'm a bag maker so I've also made a diaper bag and changing pad.
finally, food provided would be an amazing gift. At the end of the day providing a needed service to an exhausted parent(s) is invaluable.

I have been adding a “Things my Kid Said” journal to whatever else I give for new babies. Do you have one you recommend? It seems like most of my friends are having grandchildren and that sounds like a great add on for a shower gift. Thanks!

DS would never complain about an ear infection until it was ER visit worthy and had an ear drum burst more than once. He was a tough little guy!

My last baby gift was a bag of board books and a corgi stuffed animal. Every baby gets a corgi.

My friend has an Etsy shop with two versions of this - one for parents and one for grandparents. www.etsy.com/shop/itsaboutthebliss
