As I posted, my concert was postponed. I've already cancelled the hotel and am working on changing the flights. They will cost about the same (I could get about $40 back). I'm going back and forth on whether I should book a trip to NYC to see Phantom on Broadway before it closes. If I go, it would likely be in January.
I'd go to Phantom one day/night and try to hit a Devils game or maybe a game at MSG.
I'm thinking a Saturday morning through Tuesday evening or something like that. I'm sure I can entertain myself, but I'm wondering where to stay. If I find someone to go with, my budget will go up, but otherwise mid-range would be best.
Where have you stayed in NYC that you would recommend? I know I can get the PATH from the World Trade Center to Prudential. I've stayed next to Prudential Center, but never in NYC.

The two times we went to NYC, we stayed near Times Square/Central Park because it is close to a lot of things. But the next time we go, I want to stay in an area that is not as touristy, more south of the Times Square. I just want a more peaceful evening setting. LOL! It would be nice to walk to the theater though.

You should absolutely go. NY is amazing by yourself anytime of the year. I’ve stayed at Residence Inn Midtown East - which is a great location. It did not have all the ny ambiance or amenities I wanted (which come at a steep price) but definitely could be what you are looking for.
You might look at The New Yorker which was recommended here.
I personally would focus on what neighborhood I wanted to stay in - and I would not want to stay right in Times Square.

I have stayed right off Times Square and Broadway. I loved the location when I’ve gone.

I prefer to stay in midtown when I'm there (which has been far too long ago!) - because it's central to everything. I like to be close to Times Square, but not right in the middle of it.
The last two times we went, I'm thinking around 2017, we stayed at the Roosevelt hotel, which is very close to Grand Central Station.

I've done NYC by myself and loved it!
I've gone twice and both times stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn at Times Square.
It was great and their breakfast was delicious!

Look on booking.com and see what comes up in your price range. I want to say that we stayed at the same Hilton Garden in 2015 as tracylynn. I know it was billed as a Times Square hotel, but was actually several blocks away. It was under $200 a night and there’s a parking ramp right there if you drive.

We were there this summer and stayed at M Social Near Times Square. We loved the location. Not in the thick of the Times Square craziness, but near the theaters. It might be a bit expensive, though. I know my dh had also considered the Hampton Inn in the area, too.

It's on the "outside" of Times Square kinda. So, all the way North of it, and on the next street over. So, you're right there within a quick walk, but not sitting on top of all those people. It was a great location.

Of course you should go see Phantom on Broadway and you should play in Times Square, too. I have practically an entire album just from the M&M store and the old Toys R US. Go have fun. If anyone deserves to enjoy life, it's YOU! GO!

We like to stay in mid-town, the Flat Iron District or the Garment District.

We’ve stayed in a quaint older hotel farther uptown. Close to the park and the subway. We got in over 20,000 steps everyday we were there. So much to see and do. I think the Hotel was called the Belnord.
I love that neighborhood.
