Good morning.
I. AM. FRIED. Mil is still having issues despite the pacemaker. So, she won't be moving to rehab today, for sure. We have to get home, because dh's team is short staffed this week and he's the on call guy. I hate to leave and wish I had brought my car, but it's necessary. Our cousins are so wonderful. They're gonna pick up where we're leaving off. Tmw we'll look for new housing for mil. They recommendation is memory care. Dinner is rehcauffe Tai for dh.
What's on your menu?
taylortroop, I pray that your brother and family are safe and sound. I'm sorry that their trip is ruined. You're a wonderful sil. I love the idea of the bear.
Ok, off to the daily races. What's everyone doing today?
Wishing my wonderful tribe a happy, easy day!

Hi I am doing ok. Dexter is good and Dad is away. I am really tired of life right now.
I am making stew for dinner tonight and freezing half of it for Dad while I am away.
I hope everyone has a great day!

I'm living life in the fast lane at work. Two more things to do before my Friday COB deadline. I'm making progress and you betcha I'm going to enjoy every single minute of this weekend. Did I tell you that my vacation is in only two weeks now? I'm counting down. I need a break, away from home.
Tonight we are going to my mom's for dinner. I guess she is making breakfast. Boo. I need to stop and pick up some croissants.
I'm just about to step out for my Al-Anon meeting and then I'll be right back to hard work this afternoon. You all have a great day.

Oh scrapmaven I was hoping the pacemaker placement would have a better outcome. Thankfully your cousins are able to help out. I’m working later today so I’m working on Luke’s table for his birthday. Waiting to hear from my sister if her condo is intact and if her downstairs neighbors made it to safety. Dinner is up in the air. Probably on the road.

teddyw, I hope that your sister and her neighbor are safe and that their condos are in fine shape after IAN. jeremysgirl, al-anon is a great resource and I'm glad that you're going to meetings. Way to practice self care. You are amazing.

I made chicken stock yesterday (let’s face it, I can only handle cooking one thing per day) and today will be the pork & butternut squash soup + cheesy bread. Okay, temp will be in the 80s today, but I’m calling it fall. scrapmaven, I’m sorry about your MIL’s continuing troubles, and that you can’t be there with her. Please try to get some rest while you can, though.

I know I should be thankful it is raining, as we have been in drought this summer, but these cold, miserable days are getting to me. At least, I am getting out to walk each day, sometimes between showers, other times I just put on my raincoat and go, so long as it's not too heavy rain. Dinner tonight is Shakshuka - a tomato/white bean stew, served with eggs cooked on top of it. I line my baking dish with sweet potato slices, and add spinach to the tomato mix and it is so good! DH has just messaged me that he is going to be late, but everything is ready to go once I know he's on the way home. scrapmaven - I am sorry to hear your MiL is not going so well. I hope you can find a suitable living situation for her. teddyw and taylortroop and anyone else affected by Ian - I hope your families/friends stay safe and don't suffer to much damage.

Oh, scrapmaven, I'm a little heartbroken for you that memory care is the next stage for your MIL. It is such a difficult decision and like the first good-bye to a loved one. I had a happy surprise when I left the bedroom this morning. I could see through a high window in the foyer to the street where a delivery truck was unloading my fridge! It wasn't 8 yet and my delivery window was 9:30-1:30. I've watered all the plants to clear the water line and will wait a few hours for it to get fully cold before loading in all the things from the garage and shopping. The plan is salmon, asparagus and zucchini for dinner. This water dispenser is 100% the reason we picked this fridge. I love that a full sized water bottle can sit in it.

I am just back from my 4+ mile walk with my DF....It is an amazing Fall day 65 degrees and sunny. I stopped on the way home to get my MUMS for the front porch.....I didn't like the size of the pumpkins so I will look elsewhere for those. I also stopped at my favorite ice-cream place for vanilla, as I will make an apple crisp to have for dessert. Dinner will be grilled chicken thighs, potato of some sort and broccoli.
Scrapmaven I hope your MIL will begin to improve 🙏🏻

I'm sorry to hear that your MIL is not doing well scrapmaven. I am on my prep and eating my lunch ... tomorrow is a "holiday" here to recognize an important day in Canada regarding our history ... too long to explain here ... anyway, I don't have to work so that makes me happy! My mum is coming over for dinner and she wants Beef Noodle Hamburger Helper! . . I'll cook some carrots as well. I'm in the process of getting some paperwork together to send to my mortgage broker ... this sale is the real deal! .

scrapmaven does your MIL have dementia or Alzheimer's? I'm so sorry. My garden is producing lots of eggplant so today I will make a big batch of caponata which we'll have with bread, mozzarella and chicken.

I had Rotten Ronnie for lunch (McDonald's) and am feeling the after-effects. I had split pea with curry at the restaurant last night for part of my dinner. It was so good that I bought a second portion to eat tonight! This is an explanation of what leannec was referring to. September 30th is the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation in Canada. On Friday, Canada will mark the second annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It's a time to remember children who died while being forced to attend church-run and government-funded residential schools, those who survived and made it home, and the families and communities still affected by the lasting trauma.

Big hugs to everyone who is going through things right now. While I adore fall, the change in temps here is really messing with my sinuses and giving me a raging headache. I'm off to a Homecoming parade (DD is a Senior this year) and then running home to jump on a Zoom call. After that I am hoping to fall into bed and have a nice cup of tea.
For dinner, since all of our schedules are crazy tonight, I made some Cafe Rio chicken and some rice - but they can put the chicken in taco form or make shredded sandwhiches. I also made myself a plate of raw veggies and hummus on the side.

Thanks all. I heard from my brother this morning. They are all safe and still at the resort at Disney World. He felt like the worst of the storm has passed so crossing our fingers.
Took a trip to Costco today and it was nuts! People lined up for the checkouts all the way to the back of the store. Thankfully they had many cashiers and the line moved quickly. My 10 yr old grandboy loves to read so I was excited to buy him 2 boxed sets of Hardy Boys series. He’ll get one for Christmas and one for his birthday. (His birthday is New Years Day).
Supper tonight was lunch meat, cheese and lettuce in a bagel accompanied by Lays chips.

Thank you ladies. It's age related dementia. FIL had Alz and we're very familiar w/it. Mil is very oriented to time and place, but we have to repeat things many times. It's quite sad to see this happening. W/dementia you often grieve the patient while they're suffering from the disease, but in this case she's still completely w/us. Congratulations on your new fridge, bc2ca. I love that water bottle feature. Now you have to go to a fun gourmet food market and fill it up.

bc2ca she will know what it means! LOL, I don't think I've seen an MEC branded/logo water bottle but will keep an eye out for future stocking stuffers. christine58, it it the Canadian equivalent of REI, started in 1971 by a group of friends that tired of running to Seattle for all their mountaineering supplies and expanded to pretty much all outdoor sports. MEC = Mountain Equipment Co-op

Today was "Orange Shirt Day" at school ... we wear orange t-shirts to recognize survivors of residential schools and their families ... the issue is so huge and it is so political and emotional on so many levels ... hard to teach to some of my 12 year old students - especially those who are new to Canada ... but we do our best!
