So what is big now? We've survived llamas and sloths- what is trending at the moment?
What color palettes are big now? Is Christmas still pink and turquoise? Does Halloween still use purple?
My scrapbooks are basically a 20 year museum of trends. I don't scrap in order so a serendipity square and fiber layout can be right beside a sloth and enamel dot one.
So what is new?

I'm so glad you posted this because I was wondering about mushrooms...
I was at a upscale craft/vintage market and noticed a lot of mushrooms in decor, jewelry, textiles, etc. So I searched on scrapbook.com and noticed some mushrooms in new lines from Paper Rose, Dress my Craft, Simple Stories....
So anyone into mushrooms?
Once in a while I will scroll thru sb.com's new products and coming soon sections to get a feel for trends.

So anyone into mushrooms? Once in a while I will scroll thru sb.com's new products and coming soon sections to get a feel for trends. Me! I have always LOVED mushrooms (they’re related to my career) and I have noticed an increase in mushroom icons in the last few years also. I’m in my mid-20s and I definitely have noticed that the 70s/psychedelic look is very “in” right now, especially among the younger generation and with that comes more mushroom icons. Im partial to the classic mushroom icons that are in a lot of Fall collections but I love that they are becoming more prevalent. Just the other day I decided what I really want in my craft stash is a whole sheet of little mushroom puffy stickers. I would probably just hoard them. Another trend I’ve noticed lately are hedgehog icons. I used to only see them in Fall collections too but it seems lately they are more common. Maggie Holmes Garden Party for example had cute hedgehogs and that was a very spring themed collection. I actually had a pet hedgehog for the past 4 years who was my little sidekick and showed up a lot in my albums. I loved finding hedgehog icons to use to scrap him. He passed a few months ago and I have been hoarding anything hedgie related for a memorial album. I know a lot of people don’t care for the random animal icons and I agree with that on most accounts. However, I come across uncommon animals in my daily life more often than the average person due to my job so I love when there are REALLY random, not trendy animals. For example, I think the badger in Garden Party is amazing and I’m looking forward to the random skunk and hedgehogs in Crate Paper’s Christmas collection this year. That being said, I have never been able to use a tiger or sloth or any of the trendy animal icons we have seen in the past. Let’s bring in some raccoons or maybe a goat here or there. I wish all the bigger brands didn’t pick one “trendy” animal to feature in everything and then use it to death in every collection for the next few years. The animal kingdom is diverse and I want the stickers to prove it.

I wonder if we’ll see a wave of rabbits, since it will be the next Lunar animal.

I feel like mixed media is big on YouTubers who scrapbook.

I was at a upscale craft/vintage market and noticed a lot of mushrooms Maybe it is due to the Boho style being popular now? There were a lot of rainbows for awhile but maybe that has died down.

So anyone into mushrooms? I fell in love with the mushrooms Vicky B put into a couple of her collections. They get lumped in with leaves - they can be generic if you are scrapping the outdoors. The last 2 years, I feel that scrapbooking has become LESS trendy. And I am so happy about that. I think it's related to the difficulty with production/shipping in the world and so the community has started going back into their stash and rediscovering old trends they liked. Or maybe it's just me growing comfortable with my style and saying, "nah, I'm good" when new trends don't appeal!

I think some groups of products are leaning towards boho, mixed media. Lace patterns, floral patterns, whimsical, eccentric patterns, splashes-swirls-swipes of multi colors, etc...

Well, whatever the new trends are, the digital world will probably be a few months behind. I was loving all of the rainbows that were suddenly appearing in digital collections right about the time the rest of you were sick of them haha! And do you know how long it took for digital designers to start putting "stickers" in their collections? I did sooooooooo many layouts using dimensional flowers and I now want to go back and replace with floral stickers. Is Christmas still pink and turquoise? I certainly hope so! I bought a new teal coloured tree last year, and I will be using it again this year, so I need teal/turquoise/mint and pink Christmas kits.

The new trend I’ve noticed is ditching albums with crappy quality and moving towards make your own albums with binder rings and old hardcover books… especially when I’m watching peoples Halloween album plans! There are at least three creators who are using this as their base this year.

Really cool.

Hm, hard to say. I don't follow trendy releases, and my tastes run eclectic. It always surprises me when I look at AliEx shops and sort by Orders to see what their most popular items are. It's rarely something I'd look twice at! Florals and lacy things are seemingly perennial.
There have been a lot of slimline options recently, now that I think about it.

I think it was on the Christmas thread but there ended up being a whole string of posts about forest animals. I agree- I love it when there is a wide selection of animals. I was thrilled when Steven Duncan's zoo line included an orangutan, a mandrill, and a lemur. So many zoo papers forget there are other animals beside lions, elephants, and giraffes. I am always on the lookout for goat products. I think one of the reasons that there doesn't seem to be an animal at the moment is that AC got rid of Shimelle, Amy Tangerine, and Dear Lizzy. Those lines usually included the animal of the moment. I was at a upscale craft/vintage market and noticed a lot of mushrooms in decor, jewelry, textiles, etc. So I searched on scrapbook.com and noticed some mushrooms in new lines from Paper Rose, Dress my Craft, Simple Stories.... I particularly like the realistic ones that were in a couple Simply Vintage lines. So are we finally done with gnomes?

There have been a lot of slimline options recently, now that I think about it. I like the slimline stamps scrapbook.com has come out with. Since I primarily scrap with divided sheet protectors, they are perfect for stamping on a 3x4 journal card. You could do more than one card at a time.
Also the scene builder dies like grass and clouds. Build a scene on a 4x6 or 3x4 card.
I rarely make cards (like greeting cards) though and I've also had better luck finding the far less popular items on Aliexpress like medical dies and stamps.

I'm guessing the mushrooms are related to the gnomes (and I don't think we're over them - Spellbinders had them for their September 2022 stamp/die!)

I rarely make cards (like greeting cards) though and I've also had better luck finding the far less popular items on Aliexpress like medical dies and stamps. Oh definitely. AliEx is my go-to for cutting dies. Besides being the only affordable international option, there's just so much variety! The things I want do not tend to be popular, with some exceptions. I like unusual animals and layering dies, even if they're impossibly fiddly by most people's standards. I couldn't care less about yet another realistic flower silhouette or lacy edge or Christmas/Easter/Halloween/Birthday themed anything. Full up on floral, leaf and grass motifs.

Kreative Kreations just posted a new Reminisce father collection. Now I love Reminisce for the most part, especially their photorealistic papers. But this new collection is stereotypical mustaches, ties, and all that father drivel that is so tired and non representative of fathers since 1940.
Very unhappy Reminisce. Missed opportunity to start a new trend in father/guy/masculine themes.

Is this a trend? During lockdown there were some collections honouring first responders. There was a Reminisce line Emergency Room with several medical icons. In the last year, I have picked up a Reminisce line featuring firefighters. Last week I picked up some of the papers from P13 You Can be ANYTHING, and this morning we checked out First Responders collection from echo park.

I used to pass by the mushrooms, but now if they are realistic looking (49th and Market), I am happy to grab them. I have a few that are cutesy looking, but not really into them as much. They do remind me of the 70's.
