Totally an aside, but what are you all buying from AliExpress. I might be tempted to go to the dark side and try buying something. Pretty much all my crafty supplies except for paper and glue come from AliEx. Mostly I buy dies. Lots and lots of dies. 3-6$ a set I can afford and not feel like I've wasted my whole hobby budget on a single item. So, some caveats about buying there. If you don't hit the expedited shipping threshold or pay for faster delivery, it can take up to two months to stuff to arrive. Probably about half the stuff on there in metal cutting dies are knockoffs of other brands. The rest are things like generic shapes, rarely exclusive designed-for-that-shop items, and designs adapted from clipart or other vector images.
Like eBay, there are thousands of individual shops/sellers on AliExpress. The service and quality varies. I would consider myself *extremely* picky and I get about an average of 1/3 of items that fail my standards and end up requesting refunds for. Typical problems might be things like the size is off, missing poke hole, manufacturing error / flaw, or rarely, damaged in the mail. While that might seem like a high failure rate, I've gotten refunds when asked for 99.9% of the time (when provided photo evidence of the problem, of course). It's worth the hassle for me because there's no way I'd be able to afford the variety of dies I own otherwise.
It's important to pick sellers who have clear listings. Read the reviews. If you are in doubt about what you're looking at, pass. There's almost always someone else who's selling the same thing or a very similar item. Shops vary on shipping costs, combined shipping discounts, coupons, and other bonuses. Read listing details carefully.
The search on AliExpress is, quite frankly, garbage. It heavily prioritizes showing sponsored, previously viewed, and wishlisted items no matter what search terms are put in, making it more like shopping a flea market than a store. www.pricearchive.org/ or reverse image searches are better at finding things on AliEx than its internal search is. Logging out helps a little too, but it's annoying. Shops and listings tend to be transient, very few stick around for years. There are regular sales, the biggest of which being on November 11 (11.11). Most months have some kind of sale, usually in the realm of a 10% discount on orders of 40$ or similar.
If you open a dispute, never, never, ever close it, no matter what the seller tells you. Once a dispute is in progress, let AliExpress deal with the resolution. You only have a 15 day window upon receipt of your package to put in a claim if something's wrong, so be proactive. Test everything you get as soon as possible, don't just toss it in a bin and give five stars because it arrived.
Other things I've bought include embossing mat, specialty paper, laser cut wooden pieces, stamps and assorted tools.
That link is golden! My suggestions at ali are always the same so I just assumed that’s all there was. With that link I’m seeing way more Nested dies! Might even find the circle stitched die I’ve been looking for!

If I have to use the AliEx search, I'll keep one incognito window (private browsing) open to search in, and lob the results over to my logged in window when I want to actually put something in the cart/wishlist/check out the store. As I said, annoying. But at least it keeps down the constant barrage of "hey you looked at/bought/wishlisted this item, so you must want to see 100x more of it, right?" No. No I don't!

I have had things in my cart many times, and have begun checkout a handful of times, but I always hesitate when I get to the payment point. How are you paying? Am I unnecessarily paranoid about fraud?

Has anyone bought inks? I would like to have more colors but I don’t use some colors often enough to justify the cost. I’ve seen some on aliexpress and have been tempted

Am I unnecessarily paranoid about fraud? I have a credit card with $1000 limit that I use for online only. I've been buying from AE for years and have NEVER had an issue. I even get refunds when I dispute a purchase. If there was fraud, I'd be the first to yell it from the rooftops. Give in to your inner bad girl and order from AE!

I stick to stand alone dies and gems.

Am I unnecessarily paranoid about fraud? Initially I was concerned as well. I use my normal CC. I've yet to have an issue with AE <knocks wood>, and if I did, from incidents in the past, I know that my bank has got my back. I do not save my CC info on ANY site whatsoever.

First purchase on AliEx was November 2017. So yeah, a bit over five years, hundreds of purchases, and I've never had an incorrect charge and I do cross-check all my refunds and purchases against what I'm expecting to appear on my financial statements.
Like eBay, your financials only go to AliExpress. They aren't shared with individual vendors.

So after way too much research, the issue is the AE cart is on the .com website but due to some “upgrade”, in the US, iOS browsers are now redirected to the .us website which is where the products reside. In essence you are adding to a cart you cannot access. The work around for iOS is to use the app. I was able to add everything to my cart using the app then go to the desktop site to pay. I’m going to try on a windows PC using Firefox. Apparently that still works. 🤷🏼♀️ Thank you for letting us know! I just want to confirm that I am using Mac and Google Chrome and that it is working fine, in case someone sees this later and is using Mac. I finally figured out how to install chrome on my iMac. I am back in AE business! Thanks for confirming. My withdrawals were awful but 4 orders have fixed that 😂

That’s good news!
Also, I think the adding to cart issue is resolved. I’m now able to add using safari.

I have so many things in my cart right now, trying to work out the best break points for 11.11 when it comes to total cost, free shipping thresholds, coupons, store discounts, coins. @_@ I love this time of year but also sometimes it makes me want to throw up my hands!

It is a fair bit of effort, but (on average) this is the best prices of the year. We should probably split this off into a new topic since it's strayed pretty far from the original problem! Give me a moment, let me see what I can do.

Thank you Embri - that must have taken you quite some time. Very much appreciated by me, however, who loses patience with Ali Express very quickly. However, thank you to everyone upthread who shared experience and links which made my afternoon whizz by in no time. I really didn't want to sort out my studio anyway!
