I will be your host on Fridays. My challenges will each have a “magical” theme. This first one is “Movie Magic.” If you don’t think movies are particularly magical, consider the changes in special effects over time. Your challenge is to create a card inspired by a movie. Please include the name of the movie that inspired your card. For the twist, use a card base that you rarely use, do fussy cutting, OR use papers that are at least 5 years old. I used some older Graphic 45 papers from their World’s Fair collection to create my card, inspired by a scene from “Around the World in 80 Days” with David Niven. I used a square base (I almost never make square cards), did some fussy cutting of elements, and the papers are from an older collection that I’ve had in my stash for quite awhile. The twist is optional, and you certainly don’t need to use all three.

What a fun challenge scrapnnana. I love your card that and that paper is so striking with the orange and blue. Here is mine. I was already working on this and I thought it would work for this theme if its allowed. I have rainbow colored bees and I thought of the Care Bear movie. Finished it off with a pp from my stash- not sure how old it is ,but old. flic.kr/p/2nRne4J

Thank you, MARIBETHR and azcrafty . Those bees are perfect for the Care Bears movie, and it’s an adorable card! I know that not everyone is a movie buff, but as I went through my papers, stamps, and dies, there seemed to be so many possibilities. I hope this will be a fun challenge. If anyone would like some possible idea prompts, let me know.

@scrapnanna what a great use of great paper. I love the color combinations and the way you have used the elements of the paper. azcrafty so cute, so Care Bear (which Care Bear is your favorite?) My daughter wants to be Dorothy for her work Halloween party, so this card will likely end up as an insert card in my pocket page album.

Thank you scrapnnana - great excuse to break into my Fish are Friends 6x6 pad which I bought because it was cute and not because I had the faintest clue what I would use it for. Inspired by Finding Nemo

jjpeapea love the red shoes on your Dorothy and the little Yorkie. I remember seeing the care bear movie when I was young at a movie nite at school, but I don't remember them being popular in my country. So I don't have a favorite one. Linda I love your fishy card...and its so Nemo... The picture-in-picture technique is very cool

scrapnnana - love the orange and blue and the vintage-y look to your card azcrafty - what adorable bees! I've never seen the Care Bear movies but I do vaguely remember the bears - different colours with symbols on their tummies, right? jjpeapea -LOVE the red shoes on Dorothy!

Linda - What pretty paper! We literally say out loud "keep on swimming" to remind ourselves to just keep going and it will probably turn out OK.

Here are my cards for this challenge (there may be more as these images are being released weekly from Stamp Anniething). This challenge worked out perfectly for me as I was collecting these images for the last five weeks and was not quite sure what to do with them. Decided to make little cards (ATC sized) to meet the twist. In all honesty however, I won't be sending these or giving these cards away as they will go in my ATC collection - hope I still get to keep the twist though.
1. Nightmare on Elm Street 2. Childs Play 3. Friday the 13th 4. Halloween 5. It

scrapnnana, your card is so classy. I love those Graphic 45 papers but just don’t know how to use them. You did it beautifully! I love the balloons and orange and blue together are always my favorite. Thank you for the challenge and for hosting us. azcrafty, Who would have thought of clouds of pastel colors behind the bees? They are so perfect and add such a fun whimsical look to the card. I left you love in the gallery. jjpeapea, I love your Wizard of Oz card for your PL. The little Dorothy, with her sparkly red shoes, is so cute and your little Toto is perfect. I love the glittered Wizard house. This will be perfect with a photo of your DD in your PL album. Linda, your card is so perfect for Finding Nemo. I gasped as I saw the paper because I have some photos of little Eddie at the aquarium. Luckily I live where it was easy to call the EP Outlet store and confirm that they had a 6x6 pad and would hold it for me. So thank you for posting this to enable me! LOL! Your card is so cute. I’ll bet you will find some more uses for that cute paper. MARIBETHR, I love the little scenes you make with your paper doll stamps. These are so cute and your coloring is amazing. You have love in the gallery. My DD and DGDs have a movie that is a family favorite, so much so that driving from CA to UT my DGD quoted all the words from the movie (from the internet) and we all chimed in on many of the quotes. This DGD is taking a cruise with her DH so I made her this card. I handed it to her mother (DD) and asked if she knew which movie I was trying to channel. She laughed and said, “He gave me the world!” “Of course, It’s While You Were Sleeping.” Sure enough. I used a piece of origami paper for the background. It came home from Japan with me 22 years ago. LOL Cardtober #7 and #3

nylene Very good looking travel card. What a pretty background. I love that movie - I love the way she feels welcomed and embraced by the entire family. Sandra Bullock is a favorite actress.

nylene, your travel card for “While You Were Sleeping” is perfect for the movie, but it’s also a very pretty card. Thank you, also, for taking the time to offer very specific compliments to each person. jjpeapea, you have been doing the same, and I appreciate it. I usually try to do better about that, but I’m still so sick that I am taking shortcuts for now. I’ll try to do follow your examples as I improve.

MARIBETHR your ATC cards are so cute. They're supposed to be spooky and creepy I guess but they are too darn cute for that. I love how the background papers highlight the character, especially the striped paper for the clown. I'm not in charge but these are folded with images and backgrounds - they totally count!!!!!!!
