I know we've had threads like this in the past but I thought we'd revisit it. If you want scrapbook manufacturers to come up with new stuff, what would you like?
I'll start: I want pet lines that aren't cartoony. Maybe silhouettes of real animals. I have a black cat and the only places I can find realistic looking cats are in some Halloween lines. I don't mean photorealistic, just not cutesy. I also want a more sophisticated color palette- enough of the primary colors and pink. This would be great for both cat and dog lines.
Most of the pet lines that companies release are the same- I'd love to see something different.
I'd love to talk about Christmas lines but I'm not even sure where to start on that one.

I still have a tiny bit of THE SLAB (I think it was THE SLAB 4) from M's in 2003... if that was tweaked a little (more depth? not just a pattern over a white background) I would buy all of it... it was pretty versatile. No theme, just patterns.
I really don't like "sticker sneeze" pp unless I use it for the entire background, I don't know why... something about floating Christmas tree pattern just doesn't inspire me (to buy it, or to scrap with it.)
And whatever Basic Grey did, if someone else would do something like that I'd the happiest scrapbooker in the world!

breetheflea - some of those Slabs really were very versatile artbabe - right there with you on the pet paper I want B-sides - the tone on tones, stripes, SMALL plaids, small prints, woodgrains, SMALL ginghams etc...in a wide variety of colour palettes - and coordinating embellishments that are more generic than themed - tags, stars, circles, hearts, banners, arrows, flowers, enamel dots, Alphas ... I've bought a couple of paper pads in recent years that I've used a TON and I'm always on the lookout for similar. But it would be nice if they had coordinating embellishments. I will say that Paper Studio does have some decent paper pads that are barely themed or not themed but again - no embellishments

One thing I've noticed about myself though - is that the designs that tend to catch my eye on new releases aren't always the ones that actually work well for my layouts and I wonder if that's part of issue - basic useful B-side type prints aren't as eyecatching and perhaps don't sell collections as well? Or maybe that's just me?

While I don't do layouts, I'm always on the lookout for versatile paper. Woodgrain, non-floral nature patterns, stars or starry skies, non-denominational Christmas and winter themed things, non-gendered adult and kids themed stuff, basic small patterns, rainbow that isn't cartoony, watercolour or abstract in non-pastels.
So much scrapbooking paper is what I call "granny couch print". Big florals, curlicues or paisley, you know what I mean. Utterly useless for my personal style, it ends up being scratch/testing paper. B-sides are often my go-to's because they're just better.

I want non-themed versatile patterns in a good color palette. Heidi Swapp had a paper pad that was awesome. It was blues, green, orange, and grey predominately and really useful for different things. I like some of Vicki Boutin ‘s lines because they aren’t super themed. I think Pinkfresh is good at that also. Themed collections have a place, but everything doesn’t need to be themed. I’m definitely more attracted to B sides because they are more usable. If I like a color palette I will ignore the theme and focus on the B sides of the paper. It would be great if companies would do generic embellishments (labels, tags) instead of just themed embellishments. I would buy a package of embellishments that matched papers that wasn’t geared to a certain theme.

And like almost everyone else has said, I would love a paper pad of generic non-themed designs in multiple colors that go together, or like a color wheel paper pad, something like complementary color paper pads or triadic paper pads if that makes sense.

I am a theme scrapbooker.
I want: Bigger size stickers at least 2-3 inches in width and height. NO tiny sticker sneeze. Class reunions Night out Night in Take out, Drive thru, eating out Hanging out on the porch, in the back yard, by the fire pit Styles like the old days of >> Daisy D's, Rusty Pickle, Creative Imaginations, Sticko? Graffiti, the older My Minds Eye Brighter, bolder colors. I am tired of faded vintage and pastel.
I copied and pasted this from a previous thread: WORDS that are bigger in size, at least 2-3 inches in width and height. Shenanigans
Misbehaving
Party of one, two, four, ten, etc..
So this happened
Hanging out
First time for everything
More of this....please!
Whose crazy idea was this?
Night out with friends
Lunch date!
A day out
Now or Never
Unsupervised
Oops!
The time of my life
Life Documented
Guilty Pleasure
Unplanned adventure
Spontaneous
Bad ass!
Checking this off the bucket list
Oh hell yes!
Out and about
Spending time with you is my favorite
My favorite people
Because someone has to be the crazy friend, Aunt, Grandma, Uncle, etc...
Ringmaster of the circus
Wandering along
Serendipity
Still crazy after all these years
This is what memories are made of >>>>
It was them I had the best moments of my life with
Quality time together
Festival
Can't take him-her-them anywhere

Reading your post I'm picturing a pet line by someone like Graphic 45. Sophisticated and realistic. That would be right up their alley. Or maybe Reminisce. They are almost too realistic sometimes, but it would be something different.

Have you seen the new Simple Stories? They are taking their Color Vibe papers and making color collections with them and also have matching washi, chipboard, enamel dots, buttons and flowers! I think it's a nice way to get matching items that can be used for anything and can be used alone or mixed in with other product. I thought it was kinda cool. link
