What are your favorite dies for manual die cutting machine? I love any of my nested basic shapes and use them frequently. Also love my Elle’s studio tabs and seals. They are great for embellishment clusters. I just ordered a Tim Holtz ticket die and the stamp set. I think I will get a bunch of use out of it. What dies do you use most? Would love to know any suggestions on good font dies. I have a few alphas, but I would like more.

I have a set that I picked up at TM a while back and can't remember what brand - it has a journalling spot that looks like torn notebook paper, a pen, a paperclip, a geotag, a thumbtack...
I've used it surprisingly often compared to my other non-basic shape sets

I love the nested basic shapes too, but especially when they have stitching embossed into the die cut. Another couple I love are Elle’s studio pocket die and attacher die although those are super new to me but I can see getting a lot of use out of them. I also like these TH Thinlits that give me more "greenery" to tuck into cluster since there are never enough (if any) included in embellishment packs. www.scrapbook.com/store/sz-661206.html

I use this tag die a lot, but don't buy it until it goes on a better sale. I got it for half price.

I like the nesting dies, too. My most used are Taylored Expression circles and Spellbinders stars. I am enjoying my Daisy Mae tattered shapes--circle, hexagon, archway/rainbow, stars. And my Jaded Blossom gnome dies and the different dress up add ons.
My most commonly used word dies are "Happy" and "birthday", "Peace" and "joy".

Nesting dies, labels, tiny hearts and arrows, and my PL pocket dies. Yes, the corners are rounded. I can't cut a straight line to save my life, even with my paper trimmer.

I exclusively scrapbook, & alphas (mostly Quickutz) are my most used dies. I also reach for nested tags, labels, & tabs dies often.

The alphabet dies that look like wood grain are favorites of mine.
I thought they were Memory Box, but I couldn't find them.

Queen & Co. Foundation dies. They are great for both scrapbooking and card making.

I still love my QuicKutz dies, both the 2x2, 4x4 and other Revolution sizes.
I have nesting balloons, scalloped circles, circles, and stars.
I use the 2x2 die shapes the most.
I also have Hero Arts dies that go with stamps, Lawn Fawn, and Echo Park dies.
I enjoy all the brands I have and am happy with them all.

Oh geez, it's so hard to pick! My favourites aren't necessarily the same as the dies I get the most use out of. Nested shapes for sure; they're so versatile. In my opinion everyone who die cuts should have at least a set of nested rectangles, squares, circles, stars and hearts. Hexagons, domes, slimlines, ovals, florals and triangle nesting sets are also nice to have, if less used. I love layering sets, particularly animals. My collection is big enough at this point that I can often make whatever I need, even if there's no actual set for it. Shape-shopping my stash is a pure joy; finding that exact right bit to make the idea in your head real. There's no better feeling.
Boxes and interactive card mechanisms, envelopes, tabs, notches, shadow boxes and pop-ups are not my most used, but they're enjoyable to play with every time. I have a whole binder just for interactive dies.
I don't own many cover plates. I know a lot of folks love them, but I have a hard time looking at most of them and not going "I could build that with the dies I already have". So I do. I'd rather buy some trees, a lake edge, bush borders, and plants to make a scene with those instead of a forest lake cover plate, since I can mix those individual parts any number of ways. A cover often forces you to always put it together the same. My most favourite set is a colour swatch die. It just cuts out a bunch of rectangles, triangles and squares in various ratios that fit on a 5cm square card. Conveniently those fit into slide pages, which makes keeping track of my paints, colours and mixes a far less memory taxing affair.

Don’t get me started…dies are my favorite scrapbook item besides patterned paper. I do have a Cricut but I still like the crisp cut of a die better.
I started collecting them when I got the original Sizzix.
It was fun in the old Two Peas days when QK would do new releases and we would get excited about it.
My favorite alphabets were made by Zipecut, they are so cute and I got in on them after they stopped making them so had to hunt for them. Some of those alphas like QK were expensive, I remember staying up late for when some online store started their QK sale so I could be sure to get the alphabet I wanted.
My favorite dies are my 12 inch scallop borders. I don’t see companies make full size 12 inch borders dies any more, so I am glad I have them.
The shapes I use a lot are hearts and flowers. Also a circle on a scalloped circle.
Now I am a lot more choosy about what dies I buy. I tend to buy the nesting dies (rectangles, squares, circles, tags). I want to buy dies I will get a lot of use from rather than the cute shapes (like a lipstick or frog) I used to buy that I rarely use.

Makes sense, I suppose. The longest dies I have are slimline grass borders and they're not much over nine inches long. Most die sets I see for sale are aimed at cardmaking.

Some of my 12 inch scallop dies are at least 15 years old, they were made by Sizzix for other companies. I have 12 inch scallop dies from Hello Kitty and Doodlebug and Stephanie Ackerman (manufactured by Sizzix). They still cut like butter, love them. I notice that Doodlebug's new scallop dies are smaller, like you said made for cardmakers.

I also have a cricut and love love love dies. There is just something satisfying about the edge of a good die cut.
That said, I don't have a ton, because I told myself for years that I do not need a manual die cutter due to said cricut. Well, some of those delicate shapes the cricut really struggles with. I love my leafy dies, I have a big fern type die, hearts, circles, trees. One label die that I use all the time.

QK made dozens of great 12” border dies. Check out eBay—there must be a lot on there. I picked up tons of fonts that way years ago, some for as low as $10 a set. My favorite dies are the intricate lacy ones with lots of details and the cute intricate ones. But I seldom use those. My most used fonts are definitely nesting shapes and words. I have a QK magnetic binder full of words—thanks, thank you, happy birthday, congratulations, love, etc. They are a quick way to finish a card.

My most used is probably a small leafy set, like crabbybear I often need a little more greenery than die cut packs give me. I've got an older set by Paper Smooches and a set I bought earlier this year by Paper Rose and I love them both. I use a set of various sized hearts by Lawn Fawn a lot (I most recently cut them out of felt and love how they look), and I have a torn notebook edge by Bramble Fox which quite possibly my favourite die even though it's relatively small.

You sure its not your trimmer? I got a new fiskars one and realized it was defective. I'm still not sure what was wrong with it but it didn't cut straight. Had to throw it out in the end and go back to my old one

I just tried a Photo Play die (and stamp) for the first time and am happy with the brand's quality too.
Nice clear cut with the die and easy to line up.
Stamp took a bit more prep to get a good clean stamp but after rubbing the costing and using stazon ink, it stamps nicely now.

tag dies, wonky heart shaped dies, also postage stamp shaped dies ( in multiple sizes ) Do you have any tags sets that are just the tag with no embossing section? Looking to change out my tag set. The one I have is from Michael's and 2 of the 3 tags had embossing sections and I never get a good, clean cut or emboss.

Queen & Co foundation dies. So many options to create cards. I could replicate most straight cuts or shapes but I really like stitched edges.

I have quite a few cardmaking dies that I reach for often, mainly rectangles to make the card base. I just ordered three of Gina K's master layout dies ( 2, 7 and 11) and am hoping to have some fun with those if they ever get here! For scrapbooking, the most used dies are alphabet dies from Kat Scrappiness and Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Do you have any tags sets that are just the tag with no embossing section? ... I have & often use nesting tag dies, specifically Hero Arts Tag Infinity Dies (bought on sale at JoAnn). I've also seen the SB.com Jumbo Nesting Tags (a SB.com exclusive) recommended in previous threads. HTH.

Nesting dies in all the basic shapes. And more with different edging designs (i.e., stitched, filigree, etc.) and I think every crafter benefits from having all the basic shapes nesting dies in their stash. These would be the first dies I'd recommend to someone new.
Foliage/greenery dies that I can use year round and still use for the holidays, too. I have many sets that I can mix and match, and I can use them with nesting dies, too.
I like having multiple sets of wreath dies from multiple sources to mix and match for year round crafting. Plus, I can use my foliage and greenery dies with them, too.
Standalone layering dies, especially if for the holidays. I love the holidays, they always fly by too fast.
