Canadian Thanksgiving has come and gone. We did a potluck here with everybody bringing something. I provided turkey, and then made a lovely fall sangria (sliced honey crisp, sliced granny smith, sliced lemon, sliced orange - 1 of each, 2 cups apple cider, bottle of white wine & 12 oz bottle of ginger beer). DH's nephew also brought one, that he subbed a bunch of different alcohols for what it called for (I can't remember what, but some kind of honey whisky I think) but his was much sweeter, and had a ton of apple chunks floating in it.
The next morning, my DS said - it's a shame to throw out all the apples - make a pie? One of our faves is apple crisp - I use Ina Garten's recipe. So I took all the booze soaked apples, took most of the peel off, added in a couple fresh apples and made THE best pan of apple crisp we've had in ages.
So there - make sangria then take all those boozy apples and make a crisp!

Yumm!! Boozy fruit for the win. I always add a spoonful of calvados to my apple pies and crisps. It gives it a really nice layer of flavor.

ETA: I make a fall Sangria with Pinot Grigio, apple cider, caramel vodka, and sliced apples (have not tried it with citrus) that would also probably serve this purpose.

Both of these Sangrias sound yummy! scrappinwithoutpeas do you mind sharing your proportions? I just picked up some bourbon soaked pineapples at the farmers marked last weekend... I'm considering doing something like this with them.

Both the sangria and the crisp sound delicious.
I made a similar sangria for a holiday party that had pears and cranberries in it and am regretting I didn't find a way to use the fruit after.

That sounds wonderful. I won’t make sangria anytime soon, but I may just try soaking some apples in some wine and rum. I always soak raisins in rum or whiskey when using them in a recipe. It’s a game changer!

My DIL's mother always makes booze soaked strawberries for the Fourth of July. She uses tequila, vodka and rum. She dips them in different chocolates so you know which ones are which. She is always the first one to be invited over for the Fourth!

I'm not a drinker, but always a fan of apple crisp! My husband and I went apple picking a few weeks ago, and we made one that was really tasty. Went to do it again, and I accidentally added the butter that's supposed to go on top into the food processor, so I made a dough. We just ripped the dough apart and put it on the sugar and cinnamoned apples and threw it in the oven. Still came out tasty, despite my happy little accident.
