This challenge is to make a card inspired by some aspect of a holiday that is magical to you. When I was a child, Christmas stockings held a wonder and a delight from the time we hung them up on Christmas Eve to discovering their contents on Christmas morning. To make my stocking card a bit more magical, I made it a shaped card, and turned it into a shaker. (The red background is simply a piece of red card stock behind my shaped card to help it stand out for the photo.) The twist is to make your card interactive in some way: a shaker, a pop up, have a lift and peek window.... OR if interactive is a bit more than you can manage, you can make a shaped card instead of interactive for the twist.

I LOVE that little shaker sock! The angled pp really makes it look like it is knitted.

scrapnnana Can I ask where you got your lovely sprinkle mix inside the shaker? My card celebrates the magical first good snow of the Christmas season - when big fat flakes lay on the evergreen trees and everything looks sparkly and clean.

jjpeapea, your shaker card is a brilliant design! Love how the stamped snowflakes support that large shaker element! Is the background of the shaker another stamp from this set?

grammadee, yes, the stamp is from the same set. I had to stamp it, scan it, import to Design Space, offset, inset, slice, the whole shebang! But I like my results.

jjpeapea , your card is beautiful, and I love how you did the shaker! You asked about my mix. I made my own mix. I used red “diamonds” and white pearls from Queen & Co., and tiny flat red heart confetti and silver 4 point star confetti from Michaels.

jjpeapea I love your card and the process sounds like a lot of work. Its very creative how you made a shaker element around a stamp. This is mine. I always loved snow globes, there is just something magical about them. Santa is on a acetate pendulum what rocks from left to right to make him fly. azcrafty, very special, the sweet little village, the open skies, the motion of the sleigh. I agree that snow globes are magical.

Snow is magical for those of us who don't liove in snowy climes. I'm super proud of this card - cut it with my Cricut (using one of the SCAL snowflakes) and stamped the design. Shakers are not something I usually make - and I didn't really have the right supplies so my sequins are in a cut-down page protector closed with scotch tape.

Linda That's so pretty! And just as effective as all my steps. I'll have to think of that next time - cut an outline and add sparkles to the back. Why didn't I think of that?

Linda your card is beautiful. Love how you created your shaker element and using a page protector is a great idea. Its definitely a mess free method and probably less statics too.

scrapnnana , your card is delightful. I love the stocking with so many fun techniques. The stitching and the inking and the shakers bits make this a fabulous Christmas card. Thank you for the challenge and for hosting us. jjpeapea , your card is perfect for the magic of the first snowflakes which we have had this week. I love the sparkly glitter and the mix of beads and sparkle in your snowflake shaker. So very pretty. azcrafty , you really outdid yourself on this card. I love every inch. You have love in the gallery. Linda , your snowflake shaker is gorgeous. I love the mix of sequins you have used and you would never know you didn’t have all the things you thought you needed. Obviously you did a great job with what you had! I am embarrassed to say I made notes of the cards I still had to make and didn’t go back to this original post before making my card. Somehow I got it in my head that it was to be a shaped card. There is nothing holiday magical about what I made so I won't post it here. It's just a shaped card. I may come back and really take the challenge again and read the instructions. LOL

Ok, now that I have reread the instructions I chose the Magic of the Nativity. Every year we seek out displays of Nativities from all lands, using different art mediums. Setting up the hand painted nativity set is always a special event. I love the Spirit of Christ that seems to permeate all activities throughout the season. Nativity Triptych Card The sides fold in and the stand on the back folds flat for mailing.

nylene That's beautiful - the peace, the serenity. I love the silhouette effect. Is the star thinner paper? Like light would shine through?

nylene That's beautiful - the peace, the serenity. I love the silhouette effect. Is the star thinner paper? Like light would shine through? Thanks. The star is white glitter paper glued to the back. The light couldn't shine through because the back piece that makes it stand up covers it up. I just tucked a tiny piece of glitter paper in before I folded the back down.
