i'm in the "less is more" camp. it would be one 4x6 photo per page or a few photos scaled down to wallet size or photo booth strip size.

More pics is pretty typical for me, although I do a lot of 3x4 and sometimes 2x3 (which seem a little small for my aging eyes). When I do have a lot of 4x6 and if they are in groups of landscape or portrait, I'll stack 3 together in a row, either horizontally and vertically. This gets paired with a 4th pic that's overlapping a bit at an angle. That's one of my most common standard layouts, to the point I get sick of doing it, although really helps with a lot of pics
If you really need to make more space, I have taken all the 4x6's for one layout and trimmed them all to 3x5 (or maybe 3.5 x 5.5).

I would use pocket pages. I love being able to use all of the best photos and not having to worry about photo placement and resizing for a layout. When I scrapbook in the traditional 12x12 size I tend to scrapbook trips and vacations, I might take a whole heap of photos of different beaches or the views from a bush walk, there is only so many photos of trees and beaches before it all gets too same same so I like that I can focus on the best photo of that subject and also have the other nice photos to compliment. Sometimes I cut a pocket page down as well if I don't need to use all of the pockets. If I am doing more than one photo on a layout I do no more than three 4x6 and I tend to use no more than 4 if I have printed them smaller.

I scrap the memories so I care much more about photos on a page than the scrap supplies.
Now you would think the opposite if you saw my stash. But I literally scrap both photos if dgd moved her hand slightly. Many of my photos are 2x3.
So probably somewhere in between my obsessiveness and one photo is a good place.

I scrap 4x6 size but have cropped photos down to 4x5 or 4x4. I tend to use fewer photos on my layouts because I love all the embellishments. I have made photo heavy layouts too but my preference is definitely fewer so I have room to embellish. I have started to put extra photos into pocket sleeves and incorporate them into my scrapbook that way. I have a friend who routinely puts 7 or 12 photos on her layouts and teases me for my 2 page spread with 5 lol

I would use a mix of different sized photos. That’s one reason I print 99% of my photos at home. I can print the same photo in a couple of different sizes if I can’t decide before I start my LO.
