So unnecessarily tragic.
I saw a post this weekend on Instagram where someone says they should stop releasing the shooter's names and just treat them as a number. So this would be school shooter number 36.
I will pray for the family of the victims.

But we’ve been assured that armed guards and locked doors will stop all this!

Oh, Lord, when will it ever end? It's never going to stop. Americans love their guns more than each other. Not enough people care to vote for politicians who will change the gun laws.

But we’ve been assured that armed guards and locked doors will stop all this! More guns. Always, always more guns. It's disgusting.

It was 8 years ago today when my alma mater experienced a shooting. Four students were killed and the shooter, also a student there, killed himself.

Right down the road from my niece's school (she's a teacher). Terrifying. Everyone in her school is terrified.
Did anyone see GMA this morning? The poor woman who law enforcement LIED about in Uvalde and said was responsible for leaving a rock in the door (they said they were wrong a week later)? I just sobbed when I watched her. She was shaking and shaking and stuttering. She has to wear noise-cancelling headphones when she's outside. She is completely broken. Collateral damage.
I am so so angry about people who support people having assault weapons.

Oh, Lord, when will it ever end? It will never end as long as the government is more concerned with donations than it is in the life of the children and people effected by senseless gun violence.

Oh, Lord, when will it ever end? no. it seems the majority of voting americans have made it clear it is a cost they are willing to bear/rationalize/justify for perceived freedom. that freedom that costs so many lives and have some making decisions to home school, not go to a concert, etc. canada just passed a handgun law... and some of the same shit comes out of people's mouths/social media "yah but this is just punishing law abiding gun owners, not criminals". it would seem there is a correlation between quantity and availability of guns and gun deaths. shrug. some are unhappy about this new law, but overall, it seems to be highly supported.

Oh, Lord, when will it ever end? When law makers and the public decide to work together to properly address, challenge and review gun culture to ensure that children have a right to a safe education where they will not be killed is a priority. Nothing will change until the mindset of "my gun rights above all else" moves.

Nothing will change until the mindset of "my gun rights above all else" moves. We might need changes in the Supreme Court, too. The court in 2008 (Heller) decided DC couldn't pass a law to restrict handguns. And they recently struck down a NY law, too.
