Is he just oblivious to the fact that his own party is looking to former President Trump for leadership? Or the fact that Trump spends most of his time talking about the 2020 election? www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/10/29/obama-offers-closing-message-political-tensions-rise-us/“Never look backwards in politics,” said Dan Eberhart, a major Republican donor. “It’s a sign that you’ve got a weak bench and no vision for the future. Bringing in Obama to make the closing argument for Democrats is acknowledgment that the party is rudderless under Joe Biden. It’s not a strong move.”

Honestly I don't think having Obama speak to groups makes much difference at all. He campaigned for Hillary in 2016 and we lost. He campaigned for the GA Senate seats in 2020 and we won. He is preaching to the choir. I don't think it hurts; I just don't think it helps.
Unfortunately, Trump's endorsement probably helps candidates. I will definitely vote against anyone he endorses and my Republican DH finds Trumps' endorsement a mark against a person, but I can't say that it will be something that really sways him in the end.

All the Republicans do is look back. It's their game.

I think Obama's messaging is exactly what all Democratic candidates need to be saying. Here is hoping that in the next several days we hear a lot more people echoing him.

He can provide a guide and a gauge on messaging. If that is the case though, he needs to be out a lot earlier in the process. Maybe he is but I've only heard about his campaigning in the final days before elections.
