This guy wrote an opinion piece for the Washington Post where tries to make the case the Democrats have “candidate quality” problem as well.
The first thing to remember is when a conservative writes an opinion piece about the left it’s anything but objective and should be taken with a grain of salt.
As a Democrat the only one I concede a 1/4 of a point on is Fetterman. He had a stroke, he is recovering , and his doctor has given him a clean bill of health to do the job if elected.
His example are…
From the article…
“Opinion Democrats discover they’re not immune to the ‘candidate quality’ problem”
By Jim Geraghty October 20, 2022 at 7:00 a.m. EDT Jim Geraghty is the senior political correspondent at National Review.
“Perhaps the biggest surprise is in Arizona’s gubernatorial race, where Democrat Katie Hobbs, the current secretary of state, was supposed to enjoy a solid advantage against the very Trumpy former television news anchor Kari Lake. But the race is tight, and Democrats are worried — especially because Hobbs refuses to take on Lake in a debate.
“I have no desire to be a part of the spectacle that she’s looking to create,” Hobbs said on CBS News’s “Face the Nation” this month.
“If Katie Hobbs loses,” fumed Arizona Republic columnist Laurie Roberts, it will be because she “ran away from confronting Kari Lake.” Roberts complained that Hobbs, having “kept more eloquent Democrats out of the race,” has an obligation to inform voters about her policies — and to “show us exactly why” her “hard-right opponent would be a disaster for Arizona.”
”A lot of Democrats will put up with flawed candidates, but seeming cowardice in the face of confronting Trumpism might well be a bridge too far. If you’re not willing to get up on stage and lay out why your opponent has all the wrong ideas, why are you running for office?
Then there’s Fetterman, who is forcing Pennsylvania Democrats to deal with the fallout from health issues that he didn’t fully disclose before the primary. Fetterman suffered a stroke on May 13, the Friday before the Tuesday primary in Pennsylvania. His first brief statement about the stroke came out on May 15, declaring, “The good news is I’m feeling much better, and the doctors tell me I didn’t suffer any cognitive damage. I’m well on my way to a full recovery.”
Five hours before the polls closed on primary day, Fetterman’s campaign issued a statement that he was undergoing surgery “that will help protect his heart and address the underlying cause of his stroke, atrial fibrillation (A-fib), by regulating his heart rate and rhythm.” Fetterman won the primary with 57 percent of the vote.
We don’t know that Fetterman’s rivals in the primary — Rep. Conor Lamb or state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta — would be performing better in the polls right now. But we do know that neither one would have “has he recovered from his stroke?” as a lingering potential problem.
For most of the cycle, Wisconsin Democrats licked their chops as they looked at Republican Sen. Ron Johnson and his subpar job approval numbers. Maybe overconfidence led them to choose the hard-left Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, whose progressive bona fides include having advocated cutting police budgets and abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. (He has since backed off those positions.) Barnes hasn’t led a poll since mid-September, although a more recent poll had the two candidates tied. Democrats might be getting flashbacks to 2016, when Johnson looked like toast but won by three percentage points.
Elsewhere, it is fair to wonder whether two retreads from 2018 were really the best choices for Democrats, or just the most familiar ones. Once Stacey Abrams in Georgia and Beto O’Rourke in Texas announced they were interested in running for governor, they essentially froze out other options. But the pair seem better suited to wowing correspondents for New York-based glossy magazines than appealing to culturally conservative electorates in Southern states.
Sure, Abrams’s and O’Rourke’s out-of-state fundraising is off the charts, but that’s probably just vacuuming up money from grass-roots Democrats that would be more wisely spent elsewhere.”
And while some may agree with this guy’s assessment, they are no where close to being in the same category as this guy and many of the other candidates like Oz, Vance, & Lake to name a few.

Only the best and the brightest…
Either he is thinking of New Jersey where he has a home or he thinks Pennsylvania IS part of the Atlantic Coast. And he is clearly saying the Atlantic Coast.

“Dissociative identity disorder Also called: DID, multiple personality disorder “ “A disorder characterized by the presence of two or more distinct personality states. Dissociative identity disorder, previously called multiple personality disorder, is usually a reaction to trauma as a way to help a person avoid bad memories.”
In this video Walker is saying he diagnosed with a dissociative identity disorder.
Is this the kind of person who should be elected to the Senate especially when his wife feared he might kill her because of diagnosis?

I live in Nebraska. The GOP candidate refuses to debate. He only meets in small groups in front of his supporters.

I can’t believe that people aren’t talking more about this.

it boggles my mind that in some key races, one or both of the candidates are truly the only ones that made it to the top of the ticket. where is that mind blown emoji when you need one?
are potential candidates afraid of the public scrutiny they will face? will some refuse to kiss up to the party just to get the support they need? what is? how did someone like Hershel Walker make it to the top of the ticket? that's rhetorical. i've heard the opinions.

It’s an ignorant rant. I will never understand why people seriously want someone as unqualified as this man to represent them in Congress.

Someone should ask her where is her verifiable proof and don’t let her not answer.
But people like her just stand up there or give interviews to a friendly press and no ever pushes back so they just lie unchecked.

Why autocrats pick incompetence = to demand loyalty... Scarborough mocked Vance as a phony populist who was unable to connect with voters in the state where he grew up and he said Walker was clearly incapacitated and unfit to serve, but he said there was a reason Donald Trump hand-picked them and celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz in their Republican primary races. "There's just a historical pattern here, Hannah Arendt, when she's talking about the rise of totalitarianism and documenting rise of fascism, she says that strongmen do -- they replace competency with loyalty," Scarborough said. "So they'll get rid of the senators, get rid of the members of Congress, get rid of the bureaucrats who are competent... and they'll replace them with stooges who are idiots. Look at Dr. Oz -- not qualified. He's a TV doctor that sold magic beans, and from New Jersey, votes in Turkey. Look at J.D. Vance, we talked about J.D. Vance. Look at Herschel Walker, you look at Blake Masters out in Arizona." "You have people that are unqualified, in every respect, to be a United States senator," Scarborough added, "But, again, replace competence with sheer political hackery and they fit the bill for Donald Trump."(Fast forward to about 2:50) www.rawstory.com/donald-trump-totalitarian/

No hatred, just prefer Fetterman. If I had gone against people who had a stroke, I would have missed wonderful days/years with my grandmother ... She had difficulty walking because it affected her leg and arm, she did have to search for some words, but her mind was just as sharp as ever. Therapy back in the late 1950s was not as good as it is today. As an aside, Dr Oz has had some difficulties with a medical society of late from inadequate data for a research study... *** Wait here it is . So much for Dr Oz credibility... Pennsylvania Senate hopeful Mehmet Oz was banned for two years from presenting research at the American Association for Thoracic Surgery conference after submitting a shoddy study that he ultimately was forced to withdraw. The Washington Post reports that experts at the AATS raised "questions about the strength of the data used by Oz, a cardiothoracic surgeon, to reach an important medical conclusion" about undergoing a cardiac bypass with the aid of a heart-lung machine. *** Ivan Oransky, co-founder of Retraction Watch, told the Post that such bans on researchers are rare, particularly if they involve high-profile researchers such as Oz.“It’s something they take very seriously and reserve for fairly significant issues, whether they’re behavioral or issues of scientific integrity,” Oransky said. www.rawstory.com/mehmet-oz-2658578469/

Honest question: do you believe Oz and the other people you support will make things better for Americans? If so, how? Please be specific. Not just “they’ll reduce inflation,” but specifically how. Not just, “they’ll stop illegal immigration,” but specifically how. How do you propose they will make better the lives of women and the unplanned children they are forced to bear? How will they make sure all Americans have access to healthcare? How will they improve public education for everyone? How will they reduce crime and specifically gun violence? How will they fight the opioid crisis? I await your answers, because they are very thin on the ground from the candidates you support.

Right Wing Watch has provided an outline of what they call “10 Extremist Candidates to Watch on Election Day”
First Up Blake Masters. He is running for US Senate against Mark Kelly..
Running for U.S. Senate in Arizona is Blake Masters, a 36-year-old venture capitalist. The libertarian turned “America First” candidates is a protégé of Peter Thiel, the billionaire Republican funder who does not believe democracy and freedom are compatible, and has enjoyed the backing of the coup-supporting Mercer family. Though Masters tried to walk back some of his election denialism during a recent debate with Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly, his anti-democracy stance is clear: Masters has falsely claimed that Trump won the presidency, and promised Trump that his campaign wouldn’t go “soft” decrying the results of the 2020 election.
Masters is the preferred candidates of white nationalists who see him as a “fellow traveler.” Andrew Anglin, the founder of the neo-Nazi Daily Stormer website, has thrown his support to Masters, while VDARE, a white nationalist-promoting website, has celebrated Masters as an “immigration patriot.” Robert Wallace of the white nationalist Counter Currents outlet said that people like Rep. Paul Gosar and Blake Masters repurpose white nationalist talking points. “So, what does that tell you?” Wallace said. “It tells you that they’re most probably engage with our media outlets. And so they’re sort of fellow travelers. And we have reason to believe that because again, they’re repurposing our rhetoric.”
And what are those talking points? Masters has repeatedly perpetuated a version of the racist “great replacement theory” popularized by Fox News host Tucker Carlson, alleging that Democrats are trying to bring illegal immigrants into the country to replace native-born voters. He has said that critical race theory is “anti-white racism,” and blamed the United States problem of gun violence on “Black people, frankly.”
Master’s attempts to appear more moderate during the general election are at odds with the stances he’s taken. Masters has come out in favor of a national abortion ban and wants to classify fertilized eggs, zygotes, embryos, and fetuses as persons in the law with full constitutional protections. Beyond making any abortion a crime, such a law could well ban some forms of contraception and fertility treatments. Masters has also suggested the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was a “false flag” operation by the FBI, stated his belief gay marriage should be illegal, and fearmongered about trans people.
A recent poll shows Masters and Kelly neck and neck, while another poll gives Kelly a 6-point lead. Adding to the uncertainty, Libertarian candidate Marc Victor withdrew from the race on Tuesday and encouraged his supporters to vote for Masters.”

Then there is J D Vance who is also running for the US Senate..
“J.D. Vance is running for U.S. Senate in Ohio against Democrat Tim Ryan. The author of “Hillbilly Elegy,” Vance was once a “Never Trumper,” but he quickly changed his tune, so much so that Trump fondly called him an ass kisser at a September campaign rally.
Vance has said that he believes the 2020 election was stolen, and he wants to eliminate early voting, despite casting absentee ballots in the 2020 and 2021 elections himself. He has not said whether he would accept November’s election results. Unsurprisingly, Peter Thiel, the billionaire who does not believe in democracy, has poured millions into Vance’s campaign.
If you’re wondering what kind of United States Vance envisions, it’s one where Trump rules with an iron fist and only employs loyalists at all levels of government. “If I was giving him one piece of advice: Fire every single midlevel bureaucrat, every civil servant in the administrative state, replace them with our people,” Vance said.
Vance not only defended Tucker Carlson for peddling the racist “great replacement theory,” but has endorsed the racist theory himself. “Our people aren’t having enough children to replace themselves,” he said in a 2019 speech. Vance has described immigration as an “invasion” that replaces “real”—read, white Christain—Americans. “You can’t have so many people coming to the country at a time when our own families aren’t replicating themselves,” he said in a conversation with Christian nationalist Charlie Kirk in 2021.
The white nationalist-promoting VDARE has applauded Vance’s “immigration patriotism,” calling his campaign “a step in the right direction.”
Vance leads Ryan by about 2 percentage points, according to polling analysis from FiveThirtyEight. “

Kari Lake who is running for governor in AZ..
“Perhaps no candidate is more vocal about false stolen election claims than Kari Lake. The former local news anchor has centered her gubernatorial campaign on voter fraud conspiracy theories. She has said that she would not have certified Arizona’s election results, claimed Trump had the 2020 election stolen from him, and called for the imprisonment of top 2020 election officials and journalists, according to reporting from the Guardian. Unsurprisingly, she has been embraced by Trump with open arms.
Lake is eager to take steps to suppress the vote in the name of so-called “election integrity.” She has voiced her desire to do away with electronic voting machines in favor of paper ballots and to eliminate the option of voting by mail. As Right Wing Watch wrote ahead of her primary, “In a sign of what’s to come should she be elected, Lake claims that her campaign is already ‘detecting fraud’ in her race for governor and has vowed not to ‘take orders’ from ‘an illegitimate president like Joe Biden.’”
She has also engaged with Christian nationalists, QAnon conspiracy theorists, and other extremists. Lake appeared last week with Christian nationalist Sean Feucht, and she recently aired an ad featuring the homophobic and anti-Muslim pastor Justin Erickson. In October, she joined various Christian nationalists, self-proclaimed “prophets,” and conspiracy theorists at a two-day event in Phoenix, Arizona. True the Vote, a nonprofit that peddles voter fraud conspiracy theories, held an event this summer where Lake was seen palling around with QAnon conspiracy theorist Liz Crokin. It wasn’t her first time engaging with QAnon conspiracy theorists; Lake joined QAnon conspiracy theorist Ann Vandersteel’s show last January. The white nationalist America First Political Action Conference had also scheduled Lake as a speaker at its February conference, but after public outcry, Lake claimed the marketing material was false.
Lake leads in the polls against Democratic Katie Hobbs by more than 2 percentage points, according to FiveThirtyEight. “
