The recent threads about stamp platforms reminded me of this. At creativation, Altenew demonstrated their new stamping platform which I WANT so badly. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYrJz7T9FkoBut that was 6 months ago and I was hoping that maybe it would be ready for Christmas. I intend to snap one up because I'm worried the initial run will be small and they'll be sold out for a while. I'm totally willing to be a guinea pig on this one Has anyone heard any updated news, or have ties to ask Altenew?

Altenew released a press release in July. Since the one demoed at Creativation in April was a prototype, and if they were waiting for the patent before starting manufacturing it makes sense it’s not available yet. Even if they weren’t waiting for the patent, especially given supply chain issues, manufacturing and shipping could be months. I’m curious but wonder about the large wheel size making it a little fussy to correctly place. IOW if was tilted as it was titled, would part of the stamp hit the paper in the wrong place? Hinged lids handle that. I have or had a bunch of platforms and tried one I didn’t buy so will be trying to restrain myself from buying it. I haave the one Natasha Foote recommends and haven’t used it since I couldn’t stamp for a long time. www.einnews.com/pr_news/581044294/altenew-sends-shockwaves-across-the-paper-crafting-world-with-its-first-patent

You made me too curious so I emailed them. Swift response! So they’re still working on the design.
“Thank you for your email and we're sorry to keep you waiting on this.
We're so excited to release it, however, as of now, we do not have a definite or estimated date yet. We want to make it a smooth one so we're running through final touches before releasing it to the public.
We appreciate your patience on this matter.
We are happy to help if you have other questions.😊”

Hinged lids handle that. these were my thoughts when i was watching the video. isn't the whole point of the platforms to get even and exact placement? the hinge system pretty much eliminates human error with trembling hands or accidental shift when lowering that steering wheel looking thing.

I just remembered something else that might be a little cumbersome—having to use two hands to pick up, place and put down the wheel. With hinged positioners, I ink the stamp and as the ink pad is put down, my other hand is closing the lid, simple and brainless.

Thanks for e-mailing them CardBoxer! IKWYM about the hinge - I love that ease - BUT - with my TH platform I find there are "dead spots" close to the hinge and close to the edges where I don't get a good impression. I *almost* want a misti so that I can get rid of that issue, but I have too much distaste for the company to spend my money with them!

Double or layered stamping could be done with the wheel platform which I can’t do with a block, and it would stamp more precisely since the stamp could be positioned like on any platform, assuming the tilt we were wondering about wasn’t an issue. I just don’t like the two handed part. And yes, lawsuits. I wish 20 companies would come out with versions. It would be hard to sue everyone. 🤬

It would be hard to sue everyone. 🤬 but she would probably give it a good try. LOL the two handed thing is the deal breaker.

The sturdiness of the Tim platforms is great but less flex because of it can be an issue. I bought the mini Misti for $5.00 at an LSS going out of business sale years ago and still felt a little guilty. But the shop owner would have paid MSP up front so my little money went to the owner. Have you thought about at Natasha's favorite positioner? The company is in the UK but also has a US website. Shipping wasn’t bad and it came quickly. Here’s her youtube video and a link to the positioner. A sticky mat is a good idea. If you use the link in Natasha’s channel she may get a bit of $. youtu.be/6aB0jcJUOiAwww.craftstash.us/creative-craft-products-stamp-platform-with-magnets.htmlETA They also have a bundle with a media plate. A video at the bottom of the page shows how it’s used. www.craftstash.us/creative-craft-products-8-5in-x-6-5in-stamp-platform-media-plate-bundle.html

I just watched the Altenew video. I suspect they designed it the way they did on purpose, to try to prevent a lawsuit from MISTI lady.

I can't find any more info about that. Is that going to be a new product? What's so special about those inks? Is it just the round container that they are marketing?

I don't recall if it's the same dye formula in a new package or not.

Thank you pinklady! Are you going to buy some? I wonder why they designed a round ink pad? I still don't get it. Is it just to have a twist top? I hope they post a you tube video with swatches of the new ink to explain why they went this way.

I only have Altenew cubes so I may order those the next time I place an order. I quickly glanced at the colors and I didn't see anything that stood out as a have to have right now color.

"trailblazing” since the round containers are innovative and not seen anywhere else.” – Jennifer Rzasa, Product Development Team
this is a quote from their website. just because no one else invented and produced the round stamp pad, doesn't make it "trailblazing". maybe the other companies didn't think it was a good idea so they didn't do it. and the screw on top? is that trailblazing too?

When I have dead spots it's my fault as the stamp is too close to the ridges on the edge. Try looking at that prior to stamping. Also make sure that you are using the correct side of the TH lid.

Jennifer McGuire has a video with the new inks. Only four color families so far. $7.50 per pad when you buy a bundle. A little too pricey for me.
