Here is a detailed video. m.youtube.com/watch?v=6b32MZDUzIAThe backing is sticky. So no magnets needed. I currently use the magnets and blue tape to keep my paper in place for stamping.

Hmmm... pantsonfire are you considering getting this? Not convinced I would need more than the sticky grid sheets. I have not dived into layered stencils, although they intrigue me. Have exactly ONE set of them right now. Like the concept of the green piece to anchor stencils while you use them, but wondering if the "registration holes" are the same for all brands of stencils, or just for Sizzix. Full disclosure: I did not watch the whole video; just the intro up until they demo'd the green adaptor and explained that the sheets are sold separately.

Though it would be cool if they would come up with a sticky sheet we could add. It looks like you can not use unmounted rubber stamps (I don't have any due to latex allergy). With the TH platform you can. You also have to buy attachments for non platform stencils so it works with the system.

I may not be following (not unusual), but sticky sheets from other companies can be stuck on the Tim platform, even a couple cut to size and stuck down. grammadee the stencil converters comes in a 10 pack to be used with other stencils and earlier Sizzix ones. Apparently they can be removed and used again, but like sticky mats would be a consumable. The third photo on scrapbook.com shows it—a tab/strip with two holes. www.scrapbook.com/store/sz-664957.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwzY2bBhB6EiwAPpUpZm_kg8Ns2CrYWsTciFoTxlDBb-mQzhoHHBFGRXaXWKncxmhvEhzq2BoCOoYQAvD_BwE

The stamp/stencil platform is intriguing. I’ve had or tried a bunch of stamp platforms (because platform junky) and two questions: 1) the long length. I flip lids to the left like a book for several reasons and 14.5” is pretty long. And 2) no corners. I rarely use magnets in a positioner, just butt the cardstock into a corner. If the cardstock needs to move over I’ll add a plastic corner or other piece. Sticky mats are all the rage; could I get used to them instead of a corner? Possibly, and I have some, but with a corner, placement is instant and precisely at a 90 degree angle. Sticking the cardstock on a mat is one more thing to fuss with and I know I won’t always place it perfectly. So repositioning will be a thing. Video from Sizzix. You can skip examples in the middle, and toward the end end the stencil converter strips are shown. www.sizzix.com/stencil-stamp-tool

Though it would be cool if they would come up with a sticky sheet we could add. i have the TH platform and i wouldn't mind having a sticky sheet. here's what i was thinking: i have an old Brother Scan n Cut sticky mat that i was going to toss. couldn't i just cut that down, adhere it to the TH platform and use that as the sticky mat? i don't think it's thick enough to cause an issue with the sandwiching of paper and stamp. what do you guys think? i just don't want to buy one more accessory if i can jerry rig something else and save it from the landfill.

Sure, worth a try. And the ultra thin ones from Brutus Monroe and other companies would add virtually no thickness. They’d be smaller but they could be pieced together.

I’ve never picked one of those up but worst that can happen is it won’t work, and best is that it will. I hope you’ll report back!

I cut an old scan n cut mat down to fit in my Misti, works fine.
