Did anyone order their November kit? I have been intrigued by the sneak peeks, but had not ordered yet. This morning I checked and they have already sold out this kit.
I love the way they have used the circle on cards, the depth of the wreath some DT have created, the cute scenes inside the circles. Thinking that I may attempt a lift of some of those ideas, using my circle dies. I MUST have enough dies and inks and stamps in my Christmas stash to make something based on these samples...

That was fast. I did order it, yesterday evening. I don't normally get the Hero Arts kits, but I all ready knew I had mix and match opportunities with other things in my stash for this one.

The kit and Christmas tag samples are fun and cute, but I think many of us could do something very, very similar with what we already have. Since it’s sold out, you have nothing to lose by trying with your current tools and supplies. Maybe make it a challenge and see how many of us can manage it with our current supplies and dies? I’m tempted to try.

Not to be an enabler (but I am) it’s not sold out. It was just a glitch yesterday. You can order it.

Hero just posted on IG and said they made a mistake. See below.
OK, how else can we say this: We made a mistake. So sorry! It turns out one element of the November kit has been delayed – we previously received just a partial amount – and we will receive it soon. What this means is that you can still order the kit, despite it temporarily displaying as "sold out" yesterday! It is NOW available on heroarts.com, while supplies last. 🎉
• Do note that anything ordered today (11/8) or later will not ship until the end of next week – approximately 11/17. Anything ordered yesterday (11/7) will still ship on time, with shipping beginning the end of this week. Nothing has changed.
• Any items you order with the kit will ship together.
Again, so sorry for the false alarm on the sellout and the delay in shipping going forward. Once this final quantity of kits sell out, like a typical month, we will not reorder, and the kit will be sold out (for real). Wow, what a day, sorry again! We appreciate your patience and support. ❤️

Maybe make it a challenge and see how many of us can manage it with our current supplies and dies? I’m tempted to try. You are ON! But I can't play until after Friday (I am grandparenting this week.)
Thanks, GiantsFan and scrappinheather, but I have already decided NOT to get the kit. Might have caved before I saw the Sold Out, but now looking forward to see what I can cobble together without this one.

I played around with these this evening. The top circle was obviously inspired by one of the Hero Arts samples, although I should have added snow to the trees. The other two circles I made based on what dies I wanted to use. The red bows are 3D. All of my dies are from Queen & Co., although I did go through ALL of my dies, trying to find whatever would work well. After I made these three circles, I looked more closely at the samples, and realized that my wreath dies are a bit smaller than what the ones by Hero Arts, and the circle die that I used was chosen to fit the wreath die cuts that I had. As a result, the inside decorations of my circles are bigger as far as proportion than the Hero Arts samples. It was fun to play around with it, though, (and certainly more fun than doing housework when I’m still dealing with rotten allergies). Here is my first attempt, but not necessarily my only attempt as far as this challenge:

It's pretty, but that 'make a wreath/snow scene in a circle' concept has been done many times over. Not at all hard to execute with some branch/foliage dies or other scenery elements. The only piece in there that looks even slightly unique is the shooting stars, which I haven't seen before in that sharp of a curve. if you have any scene cover plates or scene building die sets, use them and die cut a second time with a circle, and voila! Yours are a lovely take, scrapnnana.
A fun finisher to this type of element is an ornament topper / ring, so it looks like something to put on a tree. Make two sides and you can even do so!

Those are CUTE, scrapnnana ! ITA about the shooting stars ring, Embri , but I think I may have something to work for that. Need to check my star dies. It is smaller, I think, but the diecut could be cut apart for this challenge, I think. And I have some SB glitter foam... I remember seeing a twig wreath die I really liked a couple of years ago. Right now, I can't remember if I resisted the urge to grab it up, or caved... I have a MS pine bough punch and a KaiserCraft cutting plate that cuts a bunch of small sprigs, so I can construct a pine bough wreath. Okay... back to grandparenting. Dgs wants to finish making his cards for his cousins. I might play around with some blue inks and splatter to get some skies ready for behind my wreaths...

These are great, grammadee! The star swirl/clusters look so much like theirs, and I love that you turned them into shakers, which are definitely one of my favorite types of cards!

The star swirl/clusters look so much like theirs, I thought of this die right away when I saw their kit. It is one of a bunch gifted to justjac and me by gramma awhile ago. No idea of the manufacturer. of course it was not where I thought it would be, but found it in a set of dies I had packed up for last month's crop. It is a complete wreath, but I cut it in two pieces so used one on both these cards. I definitely will be playing some more with the scene in a circle, but probably won't make very many more shaker cards with it. Somehow constructing that element makes the whole process feel like less fun and more work LOL.

If shakers feel too much like work, you might want to look at Queen & Co. They make shaker making really easy. I am such a sucker for their stuff.

Here ya go, scrapnnana: the die. I could cut some of these for you if you pm me your address. About 3 1/4” outside, maybe 1 1/2” inside

Thanks for the kind offer, grammadee, but I have a die that is similar, just without the stars. I think I would almost prefer the stars separate, anyway, so I could cut them from a different color….. If I change my mind and want some die cuts, though, I will PM you. It was a fun challenge to do the Christmas themed circles, but while going through my dies, I came across a really elegant ornament die from Heartfelt Creations. I had forgotten about it. It’s not a circle shape, and it’s already got some ornate elements to it, but I am kind of itching to play around with it to see what I can do with it. So many fun things that I want to make, and not enough time to do them all.

This was a fun challenge! Here is my tag. I used PhotoPlay Wreath stamp and die set, Hero Arts Snowmen stamp and die set for the tree, and Elle's Studio Christmas phrase stamp. Oh and Quickutz circle die for the base. http://instagr.am/p/Ck2ObZqOrj8

Very cool, pantsonfire! Thanks for playing. Love the foil to back up the tree and wreath.

I totally agree with you that building shaker cards feels more like work rather than fun to me. I don't know if it's because I'm not as well practiced so I have to think too much as I'm working, or if it's because the materials are so plastic...

Can you post a link? There are different types. I think the type that Queen & Co. offer are a lot easier to put together, and if you run out, you can actually make your own with craft foam and acetate and their dies. I tried the shakers by My Favorite Things, that are a kind of shaped plastic “container” with a flat top but open on the bottom, and they were a lot more awkward to make. I don’t know if I am describing things well, but my point is that some shakers are easier to put together than others IMO.

I've never bought shakers, only done completely DIY ones, but I think for me it's really about not enjoying buying, collecting or playing with plastic bits very much - sequins, acetate, foam, etc. I don't enjoy anything to do with foil either. I've tried the flat shakers too. I've heard good things about the Queen&co ones but I'd much rather just stick paper pieces together on cardstock.

Thanks for clarifying, joblackford. Shakers aren’t going to be everyone's favorite thing. I was mainly curious because of the way you described them. I wondered if it was a particular type of shaker, since some are more like a raised plastic shaped window. I didn’t realize you referred to the shaker bits when you referred to them being plastic. They can really vary, but yes, I can see why the plastic bits would be a turn off. I tend to feel the same way about powders and other messy artistic mediums. It’s why I don’t do a lot with heat embossing and some of the artsy craft goods that are so popular. They look cool, but I don’t like working with them.

I'm trying to drill down to what I actually enjoy creating vs what other people are making that looks cool very different things! I'm currently trying to imagine myself actually sitting down to roll paint onto a gel press. Would I ever choose to do that? I don't know that I would...

I have the same hangups around shaker cards, joblackfordDislike that they have so much plastic and the adhesion / potential mess issues around that. I don't trust foam tape to hold up long term, which makes shakers a potential ticking time bomb of plastic flotsam in the recipient's home. Layering up cardstock outlines takes a fair bit of effort and you still have to secure the top acetate in some way. So by and large I stick to paper whenever possible. Same with glitter & powders - I absolutely refuse to work with glitter that sheds even slightly. It's unnecessary and just makes more plastic waste that is a hassle to clean up. Instead I usually reach for metallic or holographic paper which can be just as eye catching without the 'craft herpes'.

Shakers aren't my thing, either. That said, I've seen some really cute ones, and I do appreciate the effort that goes into them.
