The bathroom, really, the bathroom? The desk? I wasn't counting that one.. I was looking at the one in the laundry room! HA

Honestly, I don't think it's *that* heinous. I might try to tone down some of the oak, but I do love the built-ins.
The desk in the kitchen would be a great place to put larger small appliances like an IP or maybe make it into a coffee/tea station.
The one in the laundry room would be great to use to fold clean clothes and I think the one in the bathroom could be made into a dressing/makeup table.
My favorite is the sunroom.. I would love to have an enclosed sun porch.

I agree.. but just seeing it like it is cracks me up as they were built for desks. The bathroom one is a vanity type.. now that I would love.. putting on my makeup and doing hair.. instead of sitting on my toilet.. HA. Sunroom is great.

I hate the inside AND the outside. I hate almost every house built in the 80s/90s and early 2000s. I like old houses and brand new ones.
That house is full of everything I hate. I feel triggered by the whole thing. 😂

Wow! The exterior of the house and a lot of the interior is just like one of my best friend's homes from childhood. That was in the mid 90's though so it had more of that decor going on. I actually like the exterior of the home. I'd love that sun room too.
ETA: the chair right next to the toilet.

Giant waste of space. Although it is convenient to put the garbage can and recycling bin where you would put a chair.

The sunken tub...the hideous sun room...the ugly bricks (not like traditional old brick, which I love, but this era brick always makes me look away) I don't know why I hate those bricks so much but they're so ugly. The only thing missing is a bunch of country blue and dusty rose and some geese wearing clothes and a floral wallpaper border.

Those people never met a glass table they didn't like!
I'm still puzzling over the fireplace... - what is the material? is it a tile of some sort? or a stone? - the mantle looks like it was glued on and is just floating against that weird background - is the fireplace usuable? the grids in the fireplace cover make it look like windows

At least it doesn't have a great room, an unforgivable sin of wasted space.

The wall unit headboard. Shelves, cabinets, drawers, cubbies, nooks, oh my! I had one on my waterbed, back in the day.

My in-laws have something similar.. it was so popular at the time and so expensive. I had total bedroom envy when they purchased it. Now I think.. DAMN, I hope I don't inherit that!

That’s a LOT of oak. Of course oak is the definition of the 80s and the builders’ standard. Shameless confession. I always wanted a built in desk in the kitchen. No space in my townhouse sadly…..

I always thought when you have a desk in the kitchen, you made it in life! That was my high standard.. haha Now my high standard is built in trash/recycle area... Yeah I don't have huge goals apparently

I love my kitchen desk. It was especially useful with kids so I could watch their computer usage or help with homework while I was cooking. This was in the pre-laptop era.
We still have a large screen Mac desktop there and I use the drawers/cabinets for bills, misc. paperwork, office supplies, etc.

It's not crazy like all done up in Madonna or Cyndy Lauper.. But I just couldn't get over how "80s" this one is.. that built-in headboard / bookcases in the master bedroom? that was probably originally a waterbed, lol!! (my high school boyfriend's parents had a waterbed very much like that in their master bedroom... and they left us home by ourselves a lot, lol ) eta: I actually really like the screened in patio. oh, and the sunken bathtub? wowee. I would fall.

I made it in life and didn't know!
I have a "desk" in my kitchen but it is only the width of a single cabinet.
I didn't realize it earlier when desks in the kitchen were mentioned because my mom put a microwave oven there in 1981 when she got her first one. There has been a microwave in that space ever since.

I would fall. The bedroom suite my in-laws have was definitely not a waterbed.. this was years after that started fading off. There is a local furniture store called Woodley's that specializes in expensive furniture. I just looked at their website to see if they even carry that type of furniture but they don't. I can remember going into their store and just drooling over those beds. They probably paid close to $8,000 (20+ years ago). It is pretty but totally dated. It's so heavy too. And still looks brand new, she is very anal about her household stuff. It wouldn't be a bad thing to inherit it is just TOOO much. (My house is lacking in storage so much that something like that would be helpful.. lol)

We have an 80's house. Any time I think it needs to be updated, I need to look at these photos. They remind me of a bit of the 90s too. I think one day we'll update our bathrooms, but I think they were updated not too long ago though. Styles change and some do last longer than others, that is for sure.
ETA: Our old kitchen had a big ol oak desk in it. We took that out and moved the fridge into that space and it made the kitchen 100% larger (also pulled out a small island).
