Wonder if anyone has done this before I try.
I used stencil butter on vellum paper, the stencil was pointsettias. The paper has wrinkled a bit due to the stencil butter. I was thinking of putting a piece of paper over the vellum, and ironing it to see if it would lay flatter.
The idea is to use the vellum over a background paper, and the word December-each cut out, big letters, as my DD cover page.

Hmmmm, I wonder if that would be like the time I ironed a $20 note, forgetting that our notes had been changed from paper to polymer, and it shrivelled up like a Shrinky Dink??

Inquiring mind here...why were you ironing a $20?? As for the vellum, I'd be inclined to put it in a thick book, maybe with a super light mist of water on the back (so not on the stencil butter). That may be enough to flatten it. Or with the iron, try on a scrap piece of vellum to make sure it doesn't melt (mine hasn't when embossing, although I have scorched it plus it has a definite odor when embossing that I don't get from regular cardstock).

I'd probably also test a bit first, just in case it does terrible things to the vellum or the stencil butter, but I suspect it's probably forever wrinkled. Inquiring mind here...why were you ironing a $20?? I'm going to guess to flatten it back out. Once the polymer notes are folded they have a permanent crease in them and never lay flat again.

In the days of paper money, I used to iron notes to make them nice and flat and crisp if I was giving money as a gift. It worked well for paper money. Polymer money, not so much!

So did you give them the shrinky dink version? Or use it on the card? kimba , I would not iron it. Vellum will take quite a bit of heat. Unfortunately, stencil butter WON'T. I would try the misting and pressing method mentioned above by @shells004. OR, I might glue it down onto the base, using liquid glue all over, and then put some wax paper on top and a heavy book over that. Leave it for a day for the glue to dry and the vellum to remember its flatness.

OK, good to know - we also have polymer money! But question: if you take it to the bank, will they exchange it? REmember how if money ripped you could tape it and take it to the bank because it was still "legal tender"?

When I want to minimize warping, I like to stick my background to a 12x12 cricut mat, a fairly new and sticky one. Then I add my mixed media and let it dry stuck down to the mat, usually for a day.
I have never tried this with vellum though. Maybe a light grip mat would work better for it?

REmember how if money ripped you could tape it and take it to the bank because it was still "legal tender"? No, because you have to be able to see the serial numbers for the bank to exchange it, and you can't see the serial numbers on my shrink dink note.

Update: Nope, didn't work. Ironed between a layer of paper. It actually warped the vellum more. Oh well. I ended up using the pointsettia stencil on another piece of vellum with white ink, looks great.
